Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread

Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.

Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

Two different yearbooks, both from the same year. First four photos are from a school in Glendale, AZ. Last four photos are from a school in Martinsville, IN. I know this might lean more toward older millennials but still fun.

I'll share the answer later!

Edit: ANSWER IS 1997!

Other Reddit is my TikTok and it’s bad

• Upvotes

We all hear about how addicted people are to TikTok nowadays. Well, Reddit is my TikTok.

I catch myself opening this app every 5 minutes like something important happened. Half the time I’m just reading random posts and comments.

Serious Is anyone else just like… really lonely?

1.3k Upvotes

Is this a thing in your 40s? Between driving kids around and a toxic hybrid job where nobody is really “friends” the way I’ve had in the past, I feel like I have very little social interaction these days. My best friend lives far away, my local friends are constantly overscheduled, and my poor husband can only satisfy so much.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Nostalgia The Brave Little Toaster is such a different movie as an adult

When I was little I remember being so upset with Toaster for leaving that flower that was so lonely. "Why did Toaster do that?!" I would think, angrily. As an adult, I see that Toaster was very broken up about it and was just trying to hide and not get overwhelmed by all the animals.

Other Rewatching The Office after working a 9–to–5 hits completely different

I started watching The Office recently, and the humor lands in a totally different way now that I actually work full-time. When I first watched it years ago, I thought the whole point was just Michael being cringe or Dwight doing unhinged stuff. Now I just find myself relating to the background misery. The pointless check-in meetings, the endless email chains, and that slow stare at the clock at 3 PM when you realize you still have hours left.

The weird part about adulthood is that most days aren't very actively terrible, you just slowly run out of steam. By the time I log off, I have zero desire to go out. I just want sweatpants, something low-effort for dinner, and a couple of quiet hours where nobody asks me for anything. Sometimes that's throwing on ol comfort shows, reading, or sometimes just relaxing with my tracys dog. I spent most of my twenties feeling guilty about doing nothing on weeknights, like I was wasting time. Turns out I was probably just exhausted.

Discussion Is everyone driving with their brights on or are my eyes just changing?

1.2k Upvotes

I have noticed a huge uptick in the last year or so of "idiots driving with their high beams on," frequently blinding me from front or back.

It's been so often now that I'm starting to question if its just me. Like my eyes are getting worse at night vision because I'm old now.

Yeah?

Discussion Is it that time already?

I just turned 40. I went to a new gym last night and did a class. After the class, the coach (who could have been anywhere like 25 to early 30s) was super nice and chatty and asked me about my fitness goals. I said "well, I just turned 40..." and was about to talk about how I want to ramp up my fitness to honor the milestone and I got interrupted with, "40?? You look great!!"

Now I'm wondering if he was early 20s. Was not expecting that response. Anyone else fell it's a bit premature?
