Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread
Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.
Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

Got a plan to vote? Are you sure your registration is active?
This election is going to be very, very fucky. You MUST be allowed to vote, and intimidation at polling places is illegal. Reach out to your county elections office or Secretary of State with any questions or to report any issues.
Vote early and in person if you can. Or, drop off your mail-in ballot in a ballot box OR at your county voting location.
Even if we don't fuck this one up, the current administration is not going to quietly accept a devastating defeat. Let's make it very, very hard to deny that we are sick of billionaires owning everything.

We’re now in the age group that is going to live with the consequences of today’s political decisions for decades. Housing, Social Security, taxes, healthcare, student debt, reproductive policy, climate policy, labor protections, foreign policy, etc.
Don't be complacent in voting !
And Whether you lean more democratic or Republican, I personally and respectfully encourage you to vote blue for the mid terms. please 🙏 💙💙💙

How many people are realistically sending a ballot or going to the poll site next month?

Mine started today. Finishing up the slog that is figuring out who is republican hiding under the Non Partisan tag and cross referencing other garbage. Elections earlier in the year showed me how horrendous and awful some of the judges were on the ballot. Financial Fraud, Accosting and badgering people in front of them, and so much more.
It's like home work from hell

Oh great the designated shouting pit, just what my Thursday needed. Feels like every month this thread just becomes a group therapy session with more snark and fewer credentials

This is one of the best subs with one of the worst mod teams and sets of rules on this entire site.

My comment in the thread got deleted, so I’m reposting it here:
TLDR: JKR is in her villain era and giving her your money is like buying a Tesla cybertruck. You are going to get lumped in with the Musk Nazis whether you agree with them or not, because it sends a message about what you stand for.
For the context folks are missing: JKR makes money off of Harry Potter. She then invests that money into funding legislation and projects that make it harder for trans people just to exist in the UK. She spins it as “protecting women’s rights,” meaning only cis women. She is in bed with a lot of really creepy conservatives and her behavior has changed significantly from the sort of welcoming and accepting person we all thought she was back in the day. Trans people see your HP tattoo and have to wonder if you are safe for them to be around, because of JKR.
Giving her money means your money is being actively being used in her personal crusade against trans people. Some people feel that is not good and so do not give her money any more by buying HP merch or video games. Other people don’t know or don’t care, so they don’t see it as a problem.
You can take all that as you will, but now you know 💫

The right seems better at boycotting things for lesser reasons. A core tenet of liberal thought is tone and good intentions absolving someone of the actual results of their actions.
