We weren’t members yet. I think we joined mid-2000s. If I knew they did bundles back then I would’ve gotten the x360 bundle when I was a teen. I also had to wait until January ‘08 to find that mofo in stock😠

I still have my lime green one that I got the Christmas it came out. Also have my Pokémon blue and silver and my brothers Pokémon red and gold.

That’s so awesome! Where did you end up buying them if you don’t mind me asking? I really want to buy an old GBC or Nintendo DS but don’t want to pay an insane amount. I feel the price variation from game shops, FB marketplace and EBay can vary so much. I never know what’s the right price to pay

Local game Store. Not cheap. Paid $90 for the Game Boy and $80 apiece for the Pokemon games. (I actually paid about $210 total because the place has a rewards program)

So many great memories playing that as a kid on road trips. Pokemon red was the game of choice...

My family didn't have enough money to get me the light, so I had to hold it up to the window so the lights from the interstate would illuminate the screen 🥲 good times.

The GBC I got for my birthday in October 99 came with Pokemon Blue.

That's a core memory of mine.

I didn't know how to read. I couldn't get past the old guy who was blocking the road to Viridian.

I didn't know what a save was and started fresh each time.

I thought that was the whole game. It was the best thing ever. Played it nonstop and fucking loved it.

Then the neighbor kids taught me what a save was and how to get Oaks Parcel to return and how to progress further on to Viridian.

Pokemon is me. I am Blue. That's me. It's me. That's why the OG Pokemon is so important in my life.

I got one for Christmas 1998 but had to wait until well into January to get one because they were sold out everywhere. I got it with Pokémon Yellow and it’s one of the best consoles I ever had.

Unfortunately mine fell on concrete and the screen cracked. Ink everywhere. Getting the GBC was a positive core memory. Destroying it was a negative one but still a core memory😭

My grandma got me the transparent purple one with Red and Blue for Xmas in 98 and I will never ever forget that moment....I played the SHIT out of Red/Blue

Damn. Got then yellow picachu edition, Pokémon pinball & yellow for my 10th birthday. It was the first day of school and I knew what was wrapped on the fireplace mantle, couldn’t wait to get home. Simpler times

u/Sean_Gin_Jee 2h ago

Ahh simpler times. I remember I was always taking batteries out of everything for mine. Much to the chagrin of my parents.

I tried trading a Scyther at recess once. The link cable kept disconnecting and I was terrified the glitch would eat my rare monster. My friend looked at me like I had two heads when I started crying over a pixelated bug. It was such an awkward, high-stakes moment for a ten-year-old.

I still have two! Raspberry pink (my original) and clear purple.

Still remember my mom randomly bringing one home with a copy of Pokemon Puzzle Challenge my brothers and I spent hours taking turns playing

The only aesthetically pleasing game boy out of every one of them for some reason to me

Gameboy color and my Gameboy pocket were both used a ton. I had a purple gbc

I remember saving up my money to buy one. Went to K mart and they only had one. It looked red on the box but it was a hot pink color irl.
