Hey look conservatives, it's more of that authoritarianism we warned you about.

1.4k

u/danishjuggler21 Sep 22 '26

Look at their subreddits, they're saying: "This isn't a good look. It gives the left ammo to say Trump is a fascist. It's obviously NOT, but this will make them say it is."

They'll never see it.

That is incredibly sad and terrifying mental gymnastics right there. "Trump shouldn't do this because of how it looks and it will give people an excuse to call him a fascists"

Not "trump shouldn't do this because it's what fascist dictators do and we don't want fascism"

They really think that the billionaires are going to make sure their lives are comfortable because they are the dumbest among us. It's insane how uneducated these people are on major historical events

My Dad when BBC exists: “State media is cancer and a waste of taxpayer money”

This announcement: “A necessity for national security, besides, why not get our news directly from the most reliable source.”

176

u/holdmyspot123 Sep 21 '26

What's really sad is growing up the US govt was considered a reliable, if biased, source. That has changed. I'm not from the US but there are usually standards as to where you can quote things from in high school and uni. We are expected to cross verify things that before we didn't need to. This wasn't the case under Obama. It's just difficult to really explain and I don't think most people understand the loss that has taken place.

A prime example of an official government repository that universities no longer trust—and are actively warning researchers to avoid—is the live Data.gov portal and its connected federal databases.

This is just mindblowing.

64

u/PhroneticReflex 29d ago

I'm probably older than you because I remember this as well, but even farther back than during Obama.

Being an American and knowing that you cant trust the governmental sources at all - not just because of biases but literal real information - is surreal. I had a feeling America would probably not stay the world power in my lifetime, but thats because I expected China, the EU, etc, to grow in prominence, not for the US to do a sprint towards becoming a banana republic.

If Mike Lindell can broadcast a looping playlist online, I'm sure the Federal govt can figure it out.

With his buddies Larry Ellison (CBS), the FCC chair, and cable companies wanting minimal regularion... I'm sure they can force them to run it.

I bought truthsocial.rip as a domain because I thought "There's no way this even gets to a functional state", and now he exclusively tweets from it and charges for fast API use. It's publicly traded and totally bonkers that it's gotten this far.

Don't underestimate the weakness of others, and the grift by Trump.

But it begs the question – will this piss Fox News off? They make shit tons of money reporting to right wingers. Will state sponsored TV cut into their profits enough to make them turn on Trump?

Or will state sponsored TV be good enough for the Murdochs that they won’t care?

It seems like at some point, Trump‘s interest will no longer align with a wealthy oligarchs who enabled him.

But then again, it seems like every time he steps in shit, it somehow just doesn’t fucking matter.

State sponsored media. Just like Russia and NK.

Like most things this is a knee jerk reaction with no plan.

827

u/kezow Sep 21 '26

You are wrong. The plan is to grift as much money as they can. Selling Trump merch and Trump branded bibles. Advertising the products of the companies/individuals that are "loyal" to the president. All while funding it from our tax dollars.

271

u/foley23 Pennsylvania Sep 21 '26

I went on to GoodRX to look for something the other day, and i saw "TRUMP RX" all over the place.

Like what the actual fuck? These fucking chuds made Jimmy Carter get rid of his peanut farm but they'll suck Trump's peanuts as long as it makes them money. absolute fucking joke

129

u/apocalypsemeowmont Sep 21 '26

Yeah Good Rx absolutely sucks now. I used to use it all the time when I worked in retail pharmacy, trying to help people who couldn't afford meds, and it was such a great tool 10 years ago. I just recently had to use it for myself and it's borderline unusable, pretty much just a shill to confuse you into buying "plans" to reduce your drug costs.

Pro tip: if you can't afford medication, try an independent mom-and-pop pharmacy. They will be faster, cheaper, and they need and appreciate your business, so they will go above and beyond to help you.

50

u/BakedChocolateOctopi 29d ago

Try Cost Plus Drugs

Mark Cuban helped start it up and they’ve been pretty transparent with their costs that go into their prices, which in my experience has been usually the cheapest

24

u/matt-is-sad Illinois 29d ago

Cost plus is the shit. It's cheaper to get my meds through then than go through insurance

State sponsored media. The stones are being laid perfectly for someone to casually walk in, and seize control of the government, and people are going to want to think it’s illegal: but it won’t be.

And it most likely won’t be the obvious candidate.

22

u/weisthaupt Sep 22 '26

If this actually happens it will be the thing that drives Fox News, Newsmax, OAN and the rest of them against him. Nothing like competition. Unless of course he just outsources it to one of these already established right wing pundit stations

17

u/MMBEDG Sep 22 '26

State run media/TV is not fascism at all(infer major sarcasm and attitude in these comments) fuck DJT

17

u/moviefan8 Sep 21 '26

This sounds like state tv. Isn't this what our Founders warned against?

Hey, look! It's that communism that Republicans are always telling me has no place in America!

15

u/simic947 Sep 21 '26

Obviously this is fascist media but keep in mind trump has below 30 percent approval rating. I doubt many people will watch.

16

u/simic947 Sep 22 '26

So trump wants to take away medias money and power. Now we be a good time for all you mainstream media to turn against trump.

15

u/Rellgidkrid Sep 21 '26

Isn’t it just amazing that people bitched about “the lying government” for decades and now THIS is the guy they choose to believe? Crazy.

15

u/ThatOldEngineerGuy Sep 21 '26

So we're at the state media phase.

Anyone else remember German history? (Sorry Germans. We'll learn)

Official state media.

15

3rd world dictatorship countries call that "state media".

I'm never really expecting each psychotic twist and turn the Trump tale takes, yet I'm also always completely unsurprised once it's here.

12

Welcome to Russiamerica

13

u/driftercat Kentucky Sep 21 '26

So another thing they are paying for with tax payer dollars without congressional allocation of funds.

14

u/orcinyadders Sep 21 '26

He did this already during his first term. They tested a video channel called “Truth Network” or some such shit, and it was comical levels of propaganda. They had interstitials of Trump images with patriotic sounding music like every 5 minutes, and the entirety of the broadcast was people kissing his ass.

13

u/TheEnd0fA11 Sep 22 '26

So we have entered the “Dear Leader” phase of fascism. Trump TV is his version of the Central Broadcasting Committee of Korea.

13

u/shootsy2457 Sep 22 '26

Just one step closer to full blown fascism.

12

u/Syrupsiipin Sep 22 '26

State-sanctioned media! His dictator buddies must be so proud

15

u/SchoedingersCat Sep 22 '26

This is unreal, no actual American "conservative" would be ok with this. It shows what the Republican Party has morphed into. A cult.

14

u/Major-Flatworm1963 29d ago

Sooo.. state tv centered around only saying good things about the guy who made it? Where have I seen that in the world?

14

u/gauriemma Sep 21 '26

This was his intention back in 2016. Then he accidentally won the election and his plans got put on hold.

11

u/Responsible_Ladder25 Sep 21 '26

Faux News will be so jealous.

If this wasn't an authoritarian leader they wouldn't call it "Trump TV" but here we are.

11

u/campfire_eventide Montana Sep 21 '26

Can you imagine being Fox Entertainment News right now? Placating Trump for years and years; surrendering all of their integrity and impartiality only for him to completely betray their loyalty in an instant. He isn’t doing anything to appease Fox or win them back. He’s essentially telling them to f*ck off and made it very clear he doesn’t need them

It’s insane to see this

And now we have state media

Was it worth it maga? He abandons you at every turn

12

u/TheGreenMan13 Sep 22 '26

Isn't it weird that it's not "White House TV" or "President's TV". It's almost like he's a narcissist or something.

12

u/Gerdius Sep 22 '26

Assuming elections happen and a Democrat wins in 2028, they should keep TrumpTV and just have it be Trump facts 24/7

"Donald Trump was convicted of rape."

"Donald Trump, a failure of a businessman, has declared bankruptcy a shocking 8 times."

"During his second term as President, Donald Trump was subjected to quarterly cognitive tests by doctors over severe and significant concern for his mental faculties."

11

u/jgmonXIII Sep 22 '26

Not a single post of this on the conservative sub at all lmao. I always peek in there when something stupid like this happens which is often and bro seeing the gaslighting in real time is insane. The news will finally hit and most comments will actually be against it, but you SEE them deleting actual people and then the only comments left are the either paid for bots with talking points or actual idiots.

The Trump Propaganda Network, where beef and grocery prices are low and getting lower, the brown people are our enemies (and so is the rest of the world, by the way) and lower gas prices are right around the corner. Trump can just snap his fingers and make war and poverty and famine go away, and all of your dreams will be happening in just two short weeks. The Trump Propaganda network pays no attention to goalposts. Things are as Trump says they are, and if you disagree, stay tuned because soon you’ll be dragged from your homes for dissent. Some of your neighbors will report on you, perhaps even some of those children.

Fucking vote.
