Try Cost Plus Drugs

Mark Cuban helped start it up and they’ve been pretty transparent with their costs that go into their prices, which in my experience has been usually the cheapest

Cost plus is the shit. It's cheaper to get my meds through then than go through insurance

Meanwhile, I'm about to pick up my monthly meds and I never have to pay for any of them. Wish you guys over there could say the same.

Cuban is still involved in a lot of the problems of billionaires, but at least he also does see real problems in the real world and tries to do something about them.

I'd rather him than people like Bezos by far. At least he's willing to pay taxes and supports higher tax on the rich.

CVS wanted $400/month for my seizure medication.

CostPlus is $60 - for a three month supply. It's a lifesaver.

I never heard of Cost Plus....I looked it up, and I love the idea! The independent pharmacy I used to work at actually operated on a similar concept. This was prior to the ACA passage and Medicaid expansion. The owner of the pharmacy had an agreement with a local FQHC (federally qualified health center: a federally funded clinic with sliding scale fees based on income, for uninsured adults). The FQHC would send their patients to us, and we'd charge those patients cost +6%. The owner calculated 6% as the cost of materials (vial, labels, bags, printer ink, etc) plus the labor of the tech. The owner did not include herself in the labor costs, and so never made a profit off those customers. We also had a few uninsured regulars who were struggling financially, and they got a cost +10% rate.

That pharmacy and the owner were such great assets to the community. It makes me so sad that the crash of '08 strangled the place, and then CVS came and opened up a store across the street, and put the final nail in the coffin by sucking away all the insured customers.

Yeah I love their transparency with the pricing. I girl I dated a few years ago has narcolepsy and needed some kind of prescription drug that basically put her to sleep for 8 hours each night (otherwise she’s unable to get into a deep sleep cycle/can’t really sleep at all)

Normally places would charge her insurances like $15k per month and give a coupon to discount it to like $300, but every year the charged costs would go over her insurance’s max around September-ish and she’d have to fight with them to not charge her $15k/month for the medicine she needs to sleep and basically stay alive/function

With CostPlus it was only like $300-$500/month or something insane
