Talking on his podcast, Draymond Green of the Warriors said Doncic will never win an MVP in his career if he does not win one this season. This comes ahead of their season-opening clash.
“Luka will never win an MVP in the NBA. This is the last possible year he can win it,” Green said.
Green then argued that voter fatigue and high expectations turn dominant stats like 34 points per game into an expected baseline rather than an award-worthy feat
“If Luka averages 34 points a game, people are going to say, ‘Oh, yeah, of course Luka averages 34 points a game.’ And JT can average 30, and they’re going to say, ‘Oh, yeah, we know he can average 30 points a game.’”
“Both of them can average 30, 11 and 8, and people will say, ‘Yeah, we know they’re supposed to do that.’ It won’t be viewed the same way as somebody else putting up those numbers. People get fatigued by it. The same thing happened with LeBron James. You can’t tell me he should only have four MVPs.”

The refs believed the ball wasn't going to touch the rim, I'd assume.

DEAR LA,
Tonight we start our run for a championship.
Every player dreams of holding that trophy. To do it for all of you amazing fans would mean everything to us.
Each of us understands what it means to put on this purple and gold jersey and follow the players who wore it before us.
It means so much because of the passion and dedication that generations of you all have shown for this team.
I see it everywhere. The hats, the flags on cars, the murals. This city has people from all over the world, speaking every language, and the Lakers are the thing that brings everyone together.
We have a special team. We know what you expect, and we are going to do everything in our power to deliver it.
From the moment I arrived in LA, you welcomed me with open arms. That is something I will never forget.
So here is my promise to you: we are going to give you everything we have, every single night.
No excuses. No nights off.
But we cannot do this alone. You are the best fans in the world, and we are going to need you.
Every game, bring it with us.
Let's go.

"(Joel) Embiid had a declaration to make in the locker room after this one. He said, I'm going to get back to being an all-defensive team player. And obviously, if he can do that, that gives all sorts of options for this team Embiid also said that it was his defensive suggestion to the coaching staff when he picked up his 3rd foul to have LeBron James switch on to Karl-Anthony Towns. And quite frankly, it was a moment of honesty from him where he said...I can't play as aggressive as I need to play against a player as talented as KAT if I'm playing with those 3 fouls. He knows that somewhere in the back of his head, he would try to avoid picking up a 4th or a 5th or fouling out. And obviously, LeBron James was able to play that backup five and make some plays on the defensive end, leading in that fourth quarter to a breakaway dunk by Tyrese Maxey that started with LeBron James playing defense on KAT"
