Jeff Peterson on the Hornets' draft capital and flexibility:
"I think the best spot that you can be in the NBA is being able to stay flexible. I commend our group for being able to do that in terms of some of the moves we've been able to make. We have the flexibility. We have financial flexibility. We have a surplus of picks to make moves whenever we're ready, whenever we see fit."
"I'm excited because some of these drafts coming up are still pretty good. We gotta continue to draft players and hit in the draft. At the same time, we have a treasure chest of picks that we can go out and acquire someone we've been targeting for quite some time now."
Peterson also discusses locking in Brandon Miller long term, the team's depth, Naz Reid's story and fit, the value of veteran playoff experience with the NBA's new rules, and his expectations for the roster.

I called My TV 48 and they said that Spectrum customers will be able to watch the game tonight. I was confused by that, because it contradicts what is on the NBA website. Has anyone else been able to talk with them or gotten any more information about watching the games in the Triad (Greensboro market)?

I live in Wilmington and have DirecTV Stream. The game tonight, against the Nets, is on WECT, but after that, there’s no game being broadcast until 10/31 against the Sixers when they’re on NBA TV. That’s five games with no coverage. What is this garbage?!? Say whatever shit you want about FanDuel, you wouldn’t be wrong, but at least I knew I could watch a game and where to find it. Anyone else have this issue?

LeBron James: "Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller, [the Hornets] are putting the keys into those guys' hands. You get a veteran in Naz Reid, which I really, really like."
"If they can pick up where they left off last year, they believe now. The guys that were there last year, they actually believe, 'Okay, every night we go out, we have a chance if we play how we was playing... if we play this type of winning basketball, we're gonna give ourselves a good chance every night.' They're super intriguing."
Steve Nash: "The intrigue is, how do Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel develop? Because they're two guys that can be All-Stars, and do they continue to develop, take on more responsibility... that's where they're headed as a franchise. We're gonna back these two guys and see how good they can get. Should be a fun year in Charlotte... it's that pairing that will lead them into the future."

Tyler Parker: "When does Moussa Diabaté cement himself as the best player in the league? Does he wait until after the All-Star break? Or does he assert himself early? If it’s the latter, I’m not sure the Hornets will lose a game."
Tyler Parker: "Moussa Diabaté. He has a chance to become the best player in the league this season, and therefore he has the most to lose."
Tyler Parker: "Not Moussa Diabaté, I’ll tell you that much. You don’t deal away a guy who is about to become the best player in the league. Not unless you’re the Clippers."
Tyler Parker: "Moussa Diabaté will score 101 points in a single game this season."
Tyler Parker: "Thunder over Knicks. I think this is the last season a Diabaté-less team wins the title for the rest of the decade. As for this year, I’ll go Thunder over Knicks."

Miller is a 6'9 sniper with playmaking potential, a better handle than most guys his size, great length and good athleticism. He was clearly a more valuable player when he played next to other playmakers than he was without them. This is true of most wings/players in the NBA.
I keep seeing people say that we paid Miller a superstar contract. The day he signed the contract, and the contracts only go up, he is the 43rd highest paid player in the NBA by AAV. A year from now this will be lower and it will continue to go down. He has flaws, but people get sticker shock at every young player contract because they are inherently a gamble since they are projecting value.
Miller still needs to work on his inside game, he probably needs more reps as a lead playmaker to develop there, and he needs to find the midrange game he had as a rookie again. IF he does really any of those 3 this is incredibly worth it, and if he doesnt this contract will pretty much always have trade value due to how much teams value size and shooting on the wings.
Relax

Hi ya’ll! Has anyone had any luck using ParkingWiz to secure parking near the Spectrum Center? Is there another app you recommend for reserving and prepaying parking?

Whenever Charlotte gets criticized for a contract like Batum’s, Hayward’s, or Rozier’s, a common response is that we’re a small-market team and have to overpay. But Charlotte is the seventh-smallest NBA TV market. Indiana, Utah, San Antonio, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, and Memphis all have smaller TV markets. If market size is the explanation, shouldn’t those teams consistently face the same need to overpay? I’m not saying those franchises have never handed out bad contracts. I’m asking why Charlotte’s contracts get defended as an unavoidable consequence of market size when teams in even smaller markets have found ways to build competitive rosters.

Amen
35.86(20.4%)
38.73(21.0%)
41.60(21.4%)
44.47(21.8%)
47.34(22.1%)
Brandon
44.00(25.0%)
41.20(22.3%)
37.68(19.4%)
41.20(20.2%)
44.72(20.9%)
I hadn't heard anything about Brandon's contract being structured this way, with his salary dipping in the middle, but Bobby Marks is a respected salary cap expert, so I assume he knows something we don't. Anyway, if this information is accurate, Brandon's contract will actually be cheaper than Amen's by the time Kon's extension kicks in.

Hello, I am currently conducting surveys for the fanbases of all 30 teams before the regular season officially starts. If you could fill out this poll once, that would be greatly appreciated. Results will be posted later on after the start of the regular season, likely around the trade deadline. Thanks! Also, none of these questions are marked as required so if you only feel like answering some, that is completely fine.
Also PSA for anyone concerned: This poll does not require an email address to complete and does not ask for anything that could identify whoever is taking it. These are completely anonymous and you could theoretically take it multiple times, though it is asked by me for the polls sake that you only take it once. I am not affiliated with the NBA or with any media outlet revolving around the NBA in any way, I am just an independent strong fan of the game who loves surveys like these. I was able to do this last year and was thrilled to get over 2000 responses, and hope that it can be as successful this year.

Brandon is rumored to be pushing for the Max but as we all know that won’t be happening.
What number would make you feel good?
Anything over 5/210 wouldn’t feel great imo.

A call to channel 48 today tells me they're uncertain if they're carrying the Hornet games this season. I need to know whether or not to sign up with DAZN. All interested please call them and share you interest. Their phone: 336 722-45452.
