I preordered Cyberpunk 2077 and shortly after launch out it down until this year. I decided to give it one last try and fell in love with all Night City has to offer! But due to time and my ADHD I never progressed very far in the story. Every time I hop on I end up exploring, killing gonks and just enjoying the city life of Night City.

But I just learned everything that’s coming, especially mod support for us Xbox players and decided even though it’s been months since I last played it’s time to dive back in. My current V we’ve had some amazing memories but I’ll see you again tomorrow after work. To CD Projekt Red thank you for this amazing game and continuing to support us.

BioWare is shutting down and the next Mass Effect game is canceled, EA has announced.

Bloomberg said BioWare closes its doors amid mass layoffs at Electronic Arts, which amount to 400 people losing their jobs (approx. 3% of total staff). Roughly 50 of these roles were at BioWare.

After the franchise-best sales of Dragon Age: Inquisition, BioWare sought live-service success with Anthem, then spent the best part of a decade on the troubled Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Both underperformed. Mass Effect, meanwhile, has seen mixed success. Mass Effect Andromeda is widely considered a disappointment among fans, though the series' more recent Legendary Edition remaster was well-received.

BioWare had spent the past half a decade teasing the next Mass Effect's setting and story. We'd had it confirmed that Mass Effect 5 would have been set hundreds of years after Mass Effect 3, and feature a narrative that re-centers the action on the franchise's original Milky Way setting, long after the Reapers were defeated. Now, fans will never find out what happens next.

Discussion / Question Never Trusting Announcement Trailers Ever Again.

• Upvotes

After Metroid Prime 4's delay, Mass Effect 4's cancellation, Beyond Good & Evil 2 never coming out, and the Next Elder Scrolls being probably at least 5 years away does anyone else just have no interest in seeing game sequel announcements ever again without a release date or gameplay attached?

Discussion / Question It's fine that we're not getting ME 5. It would never have been good.

• Upvotes

Like, we know that if Bioware had of released ME5 it would have sucked.

Like listen, guys, I loved Bioware. Knights of the Old Republic was one of the first video games I played, and it might be the most formative video game experience I've ever had. Dragon Origins was excellent. Mass Effect is excellent.

But the company you love died so, so long ago. DA2 and ME3 were incredibly flawed compared to their predecessors, Inquisition as a story and as a game was a safe, corporate betrayal of what DA was about. Andromeda was a new low for shit games until Vileguard came and lowered the bar even further.

Bioware did not "die" today. It died so long ago that the corpse has stopped smelling. It was just skeleton being puppeteered on strings. And now those strings are cut.

Finally.

Discussion / Question In honor of Bioware closing, why don't you post your favorite content from Bioware games?

• Upvotes

Pretty straight forwards. With Bioware closing down, I thought it might be nice to just post a little bit of rememberence from them. Just post what your favorite thing was, be it a character, battle, game, meme, or... well... anything really. What was your favorite content from their games?

For me it was ME1 and getting to explore the planets. Now as an adult I realize just how empty they were, but as a kid I thought they were vast, open, and amazing with tons of neat and cool content. I remember spending hours exploring them thinking I'd find something even if, in the end, they were mostly the same.

Discussion / Question Sad for the devs, but Veilguard definitely helped dig the grave

Post image

BioWare is closing its doors. After more than 30 years of Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KOTOR… it’s over.

Really sad for all the developers who put their time and passion into these games. I genuinely hope every single one of them can bounce back somewhere else and keep making cool stuff. This sucks for them.

That said, let’s not pretend. Veilguard was a massive piece of shit. They tried to please a "modern" audience that doesn’t represent their actual community or the average player. Result? The game got hit with a huge backlash, sales tanked, and EA pulled the plug.

I just hope the devs and also the top management at EA actually learn from this mistake. Because doubling down on that direction was the fastest way to kill a legendary studio.

RIP BioWare.

Discussion / Question What do you think of AI use in coding ?

My personal opinion is that , as long as the assets and art are human made , I'm okay with it , it's like complaining that cars are built by robots and not piece by piece by a human , I'm talking about this because the ocarina of time pc port SOH has been exposed for using some AI tools to decompile the game

Discussion / Question Need help looking for 5-player co-op games.

My friend group and I play games together; except we have a small problem. Namely that there's 5 of us in the group and not 4. Most games that have multiplayer cap out at 4. Plus we also don't like doing PvP so we're not looking to, say, get a FPS and play against enemy teams. Rather five people playing together against the AI. We've done stuff like Factorio and are perfectly willing to mod games if need-be. For example, we're currently playing Elden Ring with Seamless Co-op. But some suggestions for games that can support 5-player co-op would be appreciated. Must be on Steam. Modding to reach the limit *is* acceptable but OBV having the game built with it in mind would be nice. No subscription-based stuff like MMO's.

Discussion / Question LETS KEEP OUR GAMES

Post image

Gamers deserve meaningful ownership rights, the ability to transfer or resell games, where legally permitted, and protections against games becoming completely unplayable when online services shut down.

This isn’t just about today’s games. It’s about preserving gaming history for future generations.

The proposed bill directs the Federal Trade Commission to establish strict regulations ensuring that when consumers purchase a video game, they receive true ownership rather than a temporary rental disguised as a sale.

In addition to securing full ownership, transfer rights, and resale capabilities for players, the legislation mandates that games with online functionality must provide an offline mode before supporting servers are deactivated. This requirement aims to prevent instances where popular titles become completely unplayable after publishers end live server support.

If enacted into law, the bill would mark a major victory for consumer protection advocates and set a sweeping precedent across the broader digital economy, fundamentally reshaping how digital software and entertainment media are sold nationwide.

Discussion / Question Passing the baton

Crazy how the death of Bioware lines up with CDPR going nuts with their back catalog.

I've been loving all the new stuff; so seeing the contrast of competence, versus not, is sad. Especially given how high Bioware reached, and how far they fell.

Dragon Age Origins is, and continues to be, one of the best RPGs of all time, IMO. Even playing it recently, it still has some of the best writing and characters, surpassing most modern games.

I just wish they channeled that, instead of the 'let's make a shooter to appeal to the general audience' thing that led to this.

Dear completionists of this sub

My heart goes out to all of you who sit down and play a game until you've only done everything. Especially when completing a good game means having to deal with bullshit trying to. So, what is a great game that you have fully completed, and you hated almost every step of the way?
