Discussion / Question In honor of Bioware closing, why don't you post your favorite content from Bioware games?
Pretty straight forwards. With Bioware closing down, I thought it might be nice to just post a little bit of rememberence from them. Just post what your favorite thing was, be it a character, battle, game, meme, or... well... anything really. What was your favorite content from their games?
For me it was ME1 and getting to explore the planets. Now as an adult I realize just how empty they were, but as a kid I thought they were vast, open, and amazing with tons of neat and cool content. I remember spending hours exploring them thinking I'd find something even if, in the end, they were mostly the same.

Mass Effect 2's opening is still one of the greatest intros in gaming. All that time bonding with the crew in the first game, only for it all to blow up, and for your main character to start burning up in a planets atmosphere. Absolutely amazing. A great memory.

I also really enjoyed the first ME. I think I got the most enjoyment from it out of the trilogy, even though it was the least polished entry. I liked the openness, and sifting through loot.

I can’t point to just one moment, but for me I’d say BioWare gave me the most thoroughly immersive games I have played. Full of choice and consequence, fully voiced protagonist and cast…. Even by today’s standards it’s fantastic. Whether it was the medieval fantasy labyrinths of Dragon Age, or the Epic speeches of Mass Effect’s Space Opera, the gaming industry and myself are forever changed by BioWare’s storytelling.
I guess if I had to pick one moment that feels most appropriate now, it’s Anderson’s last words to Shepard. You did good, BioWare. You did good. Thanks, it’s been one hell of a ride

My first Bioware game was Mass Effect 2. I just moved into a new place, winter, super cozy, and just getting lost in it. I remember one night losing track of time, it being 1 or 2am and there i was mining planets in-between side missions. Almost getting emotional with the joy it brought me in a cold new place. Just like the cold new world we live in without Bioware.

This is crazy but I've been playing games for my whole life and have never played any of these Bioware games. Definitely remember most of them coming out or being talked about though. In any case, big RIP

Mass effect trilogy. The Citadel DLC has a very very fond place in my heart.
DAO - start to finish. I'd just lost my job and aunt in quick succession when that came out. I got a decent payout so had sometime and picked it up. Helped me through a really rough period and is arguably one of the best games ever to be made.

I know Dragon Age 2 don't go down well with a lot of people but Fenris will forever be one of my favourite game characters. I absolutely loved his and Sebastian's party banter.

The shutting down of Bioware breaks my heart, honestly. It has always been a loved studio of mine. It has been struggling, certainly since Anthem, but.... Smh. I just don't even know what to say right now. I'll definitely miss it. 😕 😪

The ending of Trespasser. Left feeling so betrayed yet hopeful about the story left to be told. I just wish that final story could have been told properly.
Also, the Dawn will Come scene.

Does this unit have a soul?
Tali better be there to answer yes otherwise you are playing the game wrong.

The entire journey from being Gorion’s Ward in Baldur’s Gate to reaching godhood level at the end of Baldur’s Gate 2. My favorite video game experience in my decades of gaming.
The Suicide Mission in ME2. Best level of all time.

Loved BioWare growing up but it peaked with the near simultaneous releases of Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. Two all time favorites. I had just gotten a high end gaming pc and getting to play those on it, especially Dragon Age, was something truly special. Mass Effect 2 fulfilled the promise of the first of playing like a mature Star Trek captain sim, but I felt like I had never encountered a game world as appropriately cynical as DA: Origins.

Im a nearly 50 year old lifeong gamer, and I've never had another experience as unique and well made as Mass Effect 2. Building the team and getting to know them, unraveling the mystery, the spectacular third person gun combat (like almost nothing else ive played), and certainly the more adult nature of the game were all very welcome and exciting.

I have played their games since Baldur's Gate days.
Which continued on to Neverwinter and Jade Empire.
I remember their announcement of development of Baldur's Gate successor during Neverwinter days which turned out to be Dragon Age years before they released. That announcement was before Star Wars KotOR release even.
I also remember downloading all the trailer clip for Mass Effect 2. Which got me into trouble because data at the time was quite expensive.

Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
Also, the KOTOR reveal is one of the best moments in my gaming history (this game was my first single player rpg back in 2003).
I know a lot of redditors are shitting on them due to their lackluster last decade but truly one of the best game studios of all time. Thanks for the memories. RIP.

I am the very model of a scientist Salarian,
I've studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian,
I'm quite good at genetics as a subset of biology,
Because I'm an expert which I know is a tautology,
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian,
I am the very model of a scientist Salariannnn!
Silence of absolute astonishment ensues Cough cough.
Rip goats. The smiles and heartbreaks you gave us will never be forgotten.
