I don’t think it’s talked about enough how his pivot REALLY took off shortly after that 30 minute N word montage got traction and “the left” started being mean to him. It’s always the same with these people, grifter or disgraced public figure with no morals. They know where they’ll still be accepted no matter how horrible they are, they know that safety net is available.

That was wild to me. I turned 18 in the early 2000s, and was politically liberal even at that time, whereas my family wasn't and mostly still isn't. I argued so much about George Bush with them, and they'd defend everything he did. Other people too - a girlfriend of mine's sister and I got into a huge argument about him in 2004.
Then... everyone just stopped caring about him and suddenly never really supported him. Just complete absence of responsibility
And I know the exact same thing will happen with Trump, and it annoys me

Is what I would say if I believed the 2028 election was going off without a hitch. Trump ain't ever stepping down, it will have to be taken from him, and I dunno if we can do that.
30
u/needlestack Sep 18 '26
it will be a little different.
I doubt it. The foundational principle of people that support Trump (and many who supported Bush) is that reality doesn't matter. Their feelings about things are the truth. That is why they love Trump: he's the first major political figure that simply and openly lies to tell whatever story he wants and is completely unapologetic about it. They see it working and it brings them great relief because it means they can finally jettison the effort to appear honest and rational. Just say what you want when you want and never look back.

From wikipedia the real reason a school has had cat litter on hand:
"The only known official instance of cat litter being placed in school classrooms for potential use by students was in the late 2010s by the Jefferson County Public School District in Colorado, where the 1999 Columbine High School massacre took place. Some teachers were given "go buckets" that contained cat litter to be used as a toilet in an emergency lockdown situation, such as during a school shooting."

this is exactly it. He's almost more dangerous than some Fox news hosts because its a bit more subtle but you can clearly see which side he is on.
There are countless podcasts of his during the election cycle where he'd downplay all of the bad things Trump was doing and highlight Biden/Kamala talking points. Attacking dem cities like Cali constantly etc.
I forget the specific incident but I remember one time he read something that looked really bad for Biden and was harping on him then later found out it was actually Trump that said it then shrugged it off.
So while he may not outright plainly say "I'm a Trump supporter" essentially all of his actions point to it

I think Joe used to be a fairly standard “brogressive” - leans left on most economic and social issues, except when it comes to anything a feminist might believe, in which case they tack hard to the right.
But as he got older and filthy rich, his social circle transformed from regular people to other wealthy eccentrics peddling their own conspiracy theories, and hack comics whose careers are dependent upon staying in Joe’s good graces. And to this day he’s put no thought into how that happened, so much so that he seems genuinely confused about why he can’t call himself liberal anymore after endorsing a fascist for President.
→ More replies (25)141
u/bloedit Sep 18 '26 edited Sep 18 '26
A brogressive does not lean left, they argue they lean left.
They support politically liberal or left policies as long as the latter doesn't seem to concern or directly benefit the former.
On that point let's not forget that politics and ideology are not the same. People may u-turn their politics, but ideology is very hard to truly change.
And it wasn't just his misogyny that stood out, all forms of discrimination (especially racism) as well as anti-intellectualism (just asking questions) have been a notable issue with him.

You do not get to say this about voting for Trump in 2024, having observed a whole term of him telling egregious lies, reneging on promises and doing a bunch of swampy sh*t.
Especially not when you have the most popular podcast in the world and sat down with the MF for 3 hours, with the opportunity to grill him on those promises before deciding whether to endorse him to your MILLIONS of followers.

This would be a (barely) defensible comment in 2018.
Indeed. It is suggestive isn't it, that the person they chose to "drain the swamp" was a known fraudster who bankrupted and swindled his way through the US for decades? Was there really no one else who could at least aspire to moderate respectability and competence for this supposed task? It's almost as if that's a bad faith belief, which they only hold (or pretend to hold) so that they can justify voting that way for other, less palpable, reasons. It's almost as if they don't care about corruption (or morals, peace, fiscal responsibility, ...) except as an excuse to go after the people they dislike.

They literally don’t care. For them, support of any political movement is valid because they’re not falling back on fundamental beliefs; it’s all vibes. And because they’re disconnected from the reality of the situation, their beliefs are malleable in ways that don’t make sense to people connected to reality. In the same way that people who mainline Fox News spout off a bunch of drivel that has no real connection to what’s actually happening. This is why MAGA seems like a cult, being a member fundamentally means a belief in a different reality.
If you bring up his past support for Trump, Joe will just say he supported him partially at the time but eventually he stopped, and his support was always tepid. He’ll claim he aligns more with Bernie even though Bernie and Trump couldn’t be further from each other politically. It makes no fundamental sense but that’s kind of the point.
This is why Trump won’t be the end of this mess. There will be a small subset of Trump supporters who see Trump’s betrayal and treason for what it is. The majority will be more than willing to be led down the same path again.

This is going to be a lot of people. "I didn't like him, but the other choice was worse so I picked him," setting aside the objectively better leader any of his presidential opponents were. The conservative media echochamber that causes this "only Republicans are a viable option" thinking is driven by a core need of conservative-minded (change-averse) people: They need reinforcement of pre-existing belief. It's not a "like" as it is with most people, it's a need. Rogan's in that echo-chamber. He's reinforced their thinking so they love him for it.
It's not that people didn't exist in information bubbles before the internet, it was just AM talk radio at one point, then that and Fox News, then it gradually turned into this wall of sound that could drown out any counter-perspective. The reason so many farm towns are deep red is because of this, that you've got people isolated and insolated from outsiders, except that now thanks to algorithm-driven social media, even when they tap into the global information network most of what they see is a carefully curated alternative reality that makes the Internet sound like their small town, just a bunch of like-minded folks averse to Democrats.

His brand. Whatever that is. I agree with you, for the record. He went from an idiot that had neat people on and did UFC fight nights to a fascist propaganda artist.

A week after saying he disagree with Trump policy and criticizing him, he attend White House UFC happily as commentator.
Then praise the event later on his podcast as massive success.
This man is an opportunistic worm.

Joe is the biggest bad-faith con artist of the modern age. Never has someone changed so radically in like 10 years than this fuck after the dollar signs started coming in. He got "his" so now he loves his rich buddies.
Watch the recent ElephantGraveyard video, bro is legit only starting to back pedal cause pedobear isnt going to be able to protect him after the great reckoning happens after death.

How about that one time when Rogan and his buddy were cracking up over Joe Biden's "civil war airports" comment, calling him stupid and senile, saying that kind of idiocy would get you disqualified from any other job.
Rogan's producer stepped in, showed him it was Trump who made the comment and Biden was quoting him, and suddenly it was complete silence, awkward cough, "He flubbed his words. Happens to everyone. Let's move on.".

Seriously though, when are people going to stop covering everytime that scumbag “disses” Trump? He is full of shit and his “criticism” is always fake. He goes to dinners with Peter Theil and Elon Musk.

Joe Rogan has shaped a generation of fools. Fuck Joe Rogan. Fuck his self-righteous bullshit. I always told my cousin-in-law (whom I love very much), it’s not Joe Rogan I hate, it’s the fact that he has a massive bullhorn and stage, and what does he do with it? He spits out anything to make himself edgy but he does so as if he’s preaching gospel. Like he’s being “genuine,” and honest. It drives me nuts that people look at this twat and say, “ya know what, I think I’m going to shape my life around Joe’s words.”

The last time Joe had on a democrat it was James Talarico in July 2025. Before then the only Dem he had on was Fetterman in 2024. So 2 Dems in 2 years (Fetterman is a stretch to include as a Dem).
In that same time period he’s platformed Trump, JD Vance (2x), Pierre Poilievre, Rupert Lowe, Elon Musk (2x), Marc Andressen, Palmer Luckey, Steve Hilton, Rand Paul, Mike Benz, Andrew Wilson (2x), Tim Burchett, and Peter Thiel
Fox News is more balanced than Joe Rogan. Ever since he got his giant payday he can’t ass kiss and give enough cover to Republicans and far right politicians. It’s pathetic.
Joe Rogan is the literally the biggest MAGA influencer in the world and has had the biggest effects to push the USA into the idiocracy it is today.
So in what universe could Joe ever be consider himself remotely left wing? All he’s done in the last 6 years is signal boost alt right ideology and platform Republicans and Republican influencers.… I can’t wait till Joe is gone from the public eye

Consequences are (and should be) a thing.
That’s what he’s experiencing, and I can’t think of many people who had such a well deserved smack down coming to them as he does.
Also, also? May the Manosphere die the terrible death it deserves. Terrible people. Terrible “movement”.
