I’ve been steadily losing hair since my early twenties. I’m currently 48 and figured, let’s finally do this! Kind of wish I had done this a long time ago.

After battling the self-conscious thoughts for a few years and trying out a few different hair styles, I took the plunge today as a trial. We had family photos taken last week and some combination of a bad hair day and studio lighting didn't agree with what I've got going on these days - I know it doesn't look like this on a daily basis, but it was enough to sting.
So far, the toddler and wife aren't completely sold, and the 3 year old told me I need to "Grow those back right away, now" lol
How did I do?

Just for clarification, I’m 40, and don’t always completely understand cultural appropriation.
Anyway, I’ve been considering doing it for next summer.
NO I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT A BOT. I AM WILLING TO SUBMIT PICTURE PROOF. Within reason…

Had to do one ridiculous pose (people who take themselves too seriously are no fun) but I think it's an improvement! Thank you all for the help today!
P.S. To the three people who recommended head tats don't worry I'm way ahead of you .... Updates coming at some point.
Before photos at the end.

I use electric like twice a week and shave on sundays. I feel like when I see shiny bald heads I’m just perplexed at how it can look so smooth. I swear by the next day of shaving I have a 5 o’clock cul-de-sac shadow
This is in quite stark bathroom light. I’m starting on the typical treatments. Last 3 pics are from 6 months ago. I have a big ugly head… Maybe better to keep it buzzed and minimise friction while I see if things can improve?

Losing my hair has been really hard on my confidence, and I’ve struggled with dating since shaving my head. I haven’t had a girl in four years, and I’m finding it difficult not to connect those two things.
I’ve posted pictures of myself on this (and other) sub several times, and people have been incredibly kind, telling me I’m handsome, attractive, and that the shaved head suits me. I appreciate those comments. My psychologist also tells me there’s nothing wrong with my appearance.
But I haven’t seen that encouragement translate into actual interest from women. I’m getting no likes on dating apps, even after putting effort into my profiles and having professional photos taken. After a while, the gap between what people tell me and what I experience becomes hard to make sense of.
I know I can’t prove that being bald is the reason. Still, losing my hair has become tied to feeling undesirable, and every disappointing experience seems to reinforce that insecurity.
Has anyone here struggled with something similar? Did dating change after you shaved your head? What helped you rebuild your confidence when reassurance alone wasn’t enough?
I’d appreciate honest experiences and practical advice. I’m feeling pretty discouraged.

Its just me saying hello and showing off the baldness and boldness and to the one whom requested my black watch tartan your wish has been granted

Is it time to bite the bullet? The back is pretty full but I can't photograph the back of my head easily.
It started as a Halloween costume, but honestly, I feel surprisingly handsome with this ridiculous haircut.

hey everyone. im new to this sub.
i'm 21M, recently immigrated to USA (this detail matters because being new to the country does lead to a lot of dealing with insecurities, at least for me)
much of my family experienced receding hairline, and i knew at 18 that i'd some day in the very near future lose my hair. i have not yet lost way too much hair due to use of minoxidil and finasteride.
however, i have been thinking a lot about how finasteride is just delaying the inevitable. that some day i am going to go bald, and if that's true i might consider start shaving my head off sooner rather than later.
generally speaking, i have been secure in myself. a lot of my identity revolves around working hard and being skilled. and i have never gone to the gym, but i am considering that in the very next phase of my life.
i'm currently a junior at a college in US, and i've noticed that i haven't seen a lot of guys with head fully shaved. i have also observed the well groomed guys with a haircut that suits them.
i also prefer to go clean shaved, rather than maintaining a beard. all of this has brought significant doubts to my mind. my goal initially is to shave once, see if i like it (to make an informed decision about spending my 20s with finasteride or with shaved head)
so yeah, i dont know what kind of advice i want, but i am definitely nervous about shaving my head especially because i'm in college, and given i prefer clean shaved look.
i am losing hair due to male pattern baldness, but my hairline is still in the very first stage due to use of medications. so the only reason i'd go bald would be as an experiment.
i was wondering if anyone had any advice about the stage i'm at or if they've gone through something similar

my hair has become SO THIN from the sides. I’m just 22 and this is eating me up from inside. I feel very depressed

I’ve been clean bald for like 8 years, but it’s not gotten any worse. This is about a week and a half growth. My question is— I like being bald, but if I wanted to, I think I could still get some length and it would look good with the right cut. Am I delusional? I seek the counsel’s advice.

Two reasons-
Solidarity with my mom since she was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma, currently being treated with device that requires shaving head. FUCK CANCER.
Im balding naturally anyways. When I trim my hair the pile is getting smaller and grayer.
Any tried and true electric shavers to keep me pretty smooth without a Razor? My skin has always rejected the use of blades but something electric to do a go around the dome every other day should be fine. Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone,
I’m going to be honest. I don’t think my fiancee loves the fact that I’m bald. I had really long hair when we started dating and over time, it’s thinned to the point where now I shave my head.
She’s always been supportive, no matter how much she always told me that she’s loved guys with long hair, highlighted my long hair in the beginning, etc. She said she loves bald men too. Or so she says.
When I first went bald, she would touch it and be lot more into it. Now, she recoils from it and definitely makes a conscious effort not to touch it.
I don’t want to be mad at her because everyone is entitled to their preferences. It just bothers me. It’s not like I can regrow it.
I think it was fine when we were dating but now she’s realizing that I’m going to be bald forever. She always brings up hair loss meds and idk. It crushes me.
How do I deal with it?
