Just started playing Witcher 3 Remastered. Never played before and really enjoying it.

Wind's howling...

I'm back on the path after ten years away. Loving every minute of it. I had only played each game (and the dlcs) once but The Witcher has always held a very special place in my heart and I've thought of it often.

Cannot recommend it enough to anyone who has yet to experience it. I suggest slow rolling it and not rushing thru the world. I'm playing immersive with no hud or fast travel this time, and POI markers turned off just focusing on objectives and what I discover naturally. Greatly improved my enjoyment.

13

u/Silver_Fox770 12h ago

Slow rolling first playthrough in all story driven games is the best way to play for me.

The Witcher 3 is the game that got me back into gaming. I stopped playing after I had kids and had a Witcher 3 disc sitting in a tote bin in my garage for like 5 years before I was bored one day and decided to just try it. I am so glad I did. It is absolutely my favorite game of all time.

Gotta tell you, Blood of the Dawnwalker is made by some fellas that left CD Project Red and my god is it fucking amazing dude

Enshrouded! Been waiting for the 1.0 release and I’m having a great time

18

u/RUBSUMLOTION 13h ago

I just started playing as well and i normally play milsim type shooters. This game is really awesome. I am losing track of time playing.

Having the time of my fucking life with this game. How many times have I died? Let's not talk about that part. I do really value that all your stuff stays at every individual death location though.

u/KrunoslavCZ 10h ago

I can't get into it. And I really like survival games. Maybe it's not unique enough, the story or setting is not interesting for me? Usually I know why I don't like something, but can't say with Enshrouded.

7

u/Organic_Fudge1 9h ago

This is exactly where I’m at with it as well. I really want to enjoy this game and for whatever reason I just can’t get it to click with me. These types of games I thoroughly enjoy too so it’s strange. I absolutely love Valheim and its charm but, struggling with this one. I also play it on PS5 and I feel the controls are awkward to me.

6

u/bigtime6914 9h ago

It’s weird because I put a valheim playthrough on hold to play it for the first time. While I’m playing (level 5) I find the game to be meh but when I turn it off I keep thinking about wanting to play it

Control Resonant, pushing through the New game+. I'll jump to Hellraiser when I'm done with that.

Also started up Space Marine 2 with a friend for the first time, so we will play through that one together.

42

u/joodoos 13h ago

It's my GOTY.  Absolutely incredible.

They have done some shit in a video game I just haven't seen brought to life.   The art direction and writing is incredible.

On top of that the world is exceptionally done and combat.   My god man.   It's so fun.  You can switch up builds and play styles whenever you want.   The skill trees are deep.

I can keep going.

I loved the first but Remedy are straight cooking with fire on Resonant.

Buy it folks.

19

u/NeoNuatica 13h ago

Agreed, though I still think I like the first one more, this one is an amazing sequel. Basically love the whole Remedyverse though, still wish they could get the rights to Quantum Break.

11

u/caty0325 12h ago

The entire Underpass segment made me want a Quantum Break remake with the current state of the Northlight engine.

4

u/joodoos 7h ago

The underpass is the freshest gaming experience I've had in years.

Since HL : Alyx

Several times I literally had to stop and think about wtf I was doing and what was going on.

There were several holy fucking shits yelled out to the point even my wife came in and started watching me play.

Jesus Christ Be Praised!

I spent a huge chunk of time this year finishing that game. Loved it

23

u/NoxiousNate 11h ago

I need to start playing it again. Haven't had my pizzle yanked in a while!

24

u/Traditional-Chest844 12h ago

I’m in the first one! Trapped in the monastery for weeks and weeks I’ve become indoctrinated.

Jesus Christ be praised.

5

u/captmonkey 9h ago

Some people hate the monastery quest, but I thought it was kind of fun. I was a little sad when it was over and I had to leave all of my monk friends behind.

4

11

haha should clarify smithing and alchemy is relaxing, combat not so much

8

u/ikarn15 10h ago

Finally someone that truly appreciates the game as its meant to be.

Alchemy, especially at Bozhena's hut is incredibly relaxing and meditative, with all the birds singing around you and the wind gently swooshing

The run time and mechanical investment to the combat seems so demanding after playing four hours. I typically am rotating through three different games at any given time time and this game seems to DEMAND it be a sole mistress!

9

u/HoonArt 12h ago

Just think, this one is actually less demanding than the first one was.

I started it for the first time the other day. Got to a town where I’m asked to escort some people that are all on horses. They won’t loan me one but they said theyll sell one cheap. Problem is I have 0 money. They said we leave in the morning. I got afraid and got off 😂😭

Not right now because it's been too damn short, but finished Ace Combat 8 last week.

If you want one of the best games you'll ever play served with a side of post-game depression, go get those wings and soar through the Great Blue Sky, gamers.

23

u/Stigglesworth 12h ago

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to wait until the patch they announced to go back and clean up S ranks.

Ace Combat 8 was one of the few recent games that brought a big, dumb smile to my face multiple times. It's probably up there with Zero as the best in the series.

11

u/Bigred2989- 11h ago

I'm just glad I'm a member of the Pre-patch Ladon and Shadow 22 shoot down club.

8

u/Stigglesworth 10h ago

I didn't even notice the Ladon mission being that hard and I just thought we were meant to switch to our guns for Shadow 22.

It was kinda BS that his flares deflected missiles fired after they disappeared, though. In the mission where you're escorting the shuttle, the other shadows also had crazy amounts of flares, and I had to bait them with a missile then fire the second shot after they disappeared. I tried that on 22 and his flares deflected the second shot after they disappeared.

7

u/Raexis 11h ago

Same here!

4

u/Inevitable_Ant_142 11h ago

Honestly, it's a good surprise to me, but I didn't expect to be this difficult, it's super hard, but it's punitive and you need to learn patterns and be good with platforms, I wasn't expecting that but it's cool

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in"

12

u/LazyPancake 13h ago

No actually though. I was done. I was free. The anniversary servers didn't appeal to me. Classic was done, retail was hot garbage. And then Holly comes out and says "Gotcha, bitch!"

I played a teeny bit of beta, less than 15 hours I'd say and it was great. I'm literally planning out meal prep so we don't go full degenerate in this house.

What kind of stuff would you normally have enjoyed?

If you like just going on an adventure Dragons Dogma 2 is amazing as long as you go into it expecting the story to be ass and the combat/world being the main event.

If you want a good story with a fresh take on old school beat-em-up with amazing world design Control Resonant is incredible.

Wardogs, blue team unless I'm feeling sweaty. Just trying to help the nubs and surprise red

6

u/PetrolHeadF 12h ago

In my experience so far this season, Red is the worst. Green team chases HZ, Blue builds a FOB and pulls drill, Red just tries to kill Blue and is always last in points, while Blue is 30 points behind Green and then pulls drill and fights the HZ and green has 80 points, Blue has 45 and Red is doing ... something with 8 points.

4

u/castille 12h ago

It’s always a fav when I’m sitting in the hot zone with my squaddies watching the kill feed scroll and not hearing the fight because two of the teams decided hate boner.

Minishoot Adventures

It's like 2D Zelda+twin-stick shooter+metroidvania all came together. It gives you a little bit of story and drops you into the world with no further guidance. I eventually got 100% of the map explored and completed and beat the final boss. There's another ending after that I also completed. Working on the endgame arena now. It's a short little game but plenty fun. I have about 10 hours put into it.

November 4th comes WoW Forever, can't wait for that!

Graveyard Keeper 2. It’s a much darker take on a game like Stardew Valley.

4

u/Wabbabaloo 11h ago

Is it any better than the 1st? I couldn't stand that whole having to wait a week to talk to a single npc.

4

u/MuffaloMan 10h ago

There is more of that in the 2nd one. I loved the grind and the game, but I’ll be the first to admit it’s not for everyone. Lots of “craft item A to make item B to make item C” as well. There’s a lot of QoL mods if you’re on PC, and more official updates coming down the pike, but if you weren’t a fan of the first one this one is probably not for you either.

Hollow Knight. Determined to at least 100% it before picking up Silksong.

Guild Wars 2. My first comfort game.

And Warframe. My second comfort game.

I am itching for a survival game rush though. Dragonwilds I finished, but Valheim, Enshrouded and maybe even Minecraft.

My yearly 100h+ hours playthrough of Factorio is on the block soon too.

Control Resonant, second playthrough. Restarted immediately after finishing my first run haha

In the times I want to be a bit more social/co-operative I'll be on FFXIV

I'm feeling sad so I'm playing Majora's Mask. It heals me and makes me feel good about helping everyone with their troubles in the game

Fallout 4 modded into a whispering hills/ S.T.A.L.K.E.R Esq playthrough

Can’t enter downtown Boston though ffs…

Imma just RP say pretend my survivor knows it’s just too dangerous to wander there so we will just never explore that deplorable hellscape

Star wars zero company after recently finishing dawnwalker

4

Approaching the end of Pragmata. Pretty fun, unique game. Combat gets a little repetitive, but there are enough options to switch up builds and strategies.

3

u/Lemjain 14h ago

Bloodborne. I'm starting my own Soulsborne Gauntlet soon, 100%ing all 7 games.

Just finished MW4s campaign and loved it. Felt like I was playing an OG cod story. First campaign I’ve done since Cold War.

u/NeonGusta 13h ago

Me too. Really enjoyed it and the ending gave me a certain kind of numbness

Marathon — awesome art style, and a gameplay style that requires a different mindset than the usual FPS games. The Finals — the best world destruction of any PC game, for sure.

witcher 3: the wild hunt

my 3rd playthrough and I’m loving it. Has to be one of the greatest RPG’s of all time

4

u/golkedj 11h ago

Yeah I find that people that dislike it never even got past the Griffin fight in the beginning and that's really when the game starts

Plague Tale Requiem. Started it right after beating Plague Tale Innosence, and I was caught off guard by everyone suddenly being british. In the first game the characters had french accents and I found it neat

u/AsteroidPack940 11h ago

Doing a genocide run of Baldur’s gate 3 with my boyfriend, so far so good lol

D4, waiting on Wowf, and I keep getting sucked back into Factorio. I've been enjoying Orc Incrimental, too. Just let it play in the background

playing through a bunch of old and obscure Japanese RPGs.

I just finished Brandish 3: Spirit of Balcan. and after such a long dungeon-crawler, I decided next I'd play a smaller one, so now I just started Xak: The Art of Visual Stage. I plan on playing more old obscure Japanese RPGs (or RPG-adjacent games) afterwards too. I think Popful Mail will be next.

Fields of Mistria mainly, but also eyeing Control Resonant
