I really enjoyed the games. IMO the story in the first game was better, and the open world in the second was better. I spent more time on one playthrough of forbidden west than two playthrough of zero dawn. Though tbf I rushed the second playthrough in preparation for forbidden west.
Agreed. Zero Dawn has one of the best narratives I've ever seen in a game, and the pace at which you figure everything out is so well-measured. Forbidden West—while still compelling—couldn't hope to live up to that benchmark, but what it does is improve on the gameplay in just about every appreciable way. It's so much fun.
Not to mention the PS5 graphics are just jaw-dropping.
Very hard to beat that story revelation the first time you play through the original Zero Dawn. Forbidden West's story still has some good surprises in it, though. And I enjoyed the FW combat/gameplay even more than the first.
10/10 game series. If you played the first one it’s an even better sequel. If you’ve not played the first one I’d recommend doing that first but it’s a fantastic game both in story and gorgeous graphics
Yes I played the first one. I thought I was so strong because the thunderjaw I can put it down with few hits and arrows, but damn I was so wrong, saw the difficulty, it was on story or something.
It’s a solid 6 or 7/10 game. Exploration and combat is generally fun, setting is (mostly) good but the story is just passable and characters pretty asinine. If you like firing arrows at robot dinosaurs and ticking icons off a map it’s a good time, but people who say the writing in this game is good are wrong.
The story in FW is better than average for a video game imo. The problem is that it was never going to measure up to Zero Dawn, which is a storytelling masterpiece.
The story in ZD is a bit better, I still don’t think it’s that good. The ideas in isolation are really cool, I just think the execution is only fine, and it left me frustrated at what could have been with better writing.
