Running as a republican is truly racing to the bottom

I feel like it's more trying to prove there is no bottom.

You should hear the somali attack ads in MN. They run nonstop, claiming that somalis are stealing billions of 'welfare' dollars to fund terrorists back home. It's disgusting.

Somalis are our friends, they are our neighbors, and they have been here for decades. At this point, the majority were born here. Alienating and singling out our neighbors is just evil nazi shit.

Even as Ramaswamy received backlash from across the political spectrum, his campaign manager boasted to Axios that the ad marked “a campaign-ending moment for Amy Acton.”

These people have no souls.

u/Shopworn_Soul Texas 8h ago

I early voted for midterms yesterday and a lady behind me in line was positively giddy to vote for the well-documented criminal scumbag adulterer on our ballot instead of the reasonably decent human being on the other side.

I just don't know what's going on anymore.

300

u/RandyMuscle I voted 8h ago

The fact that that description does not narrow down what state you’re even in proves my point. Like if you didn’t have the flair, I would have to guess.

171

u/bayleysgal1996 Texas 8h ago

Also early voted yesterday. Uncomfortable number of older women excited to vote for Paxton in line with me. For my own peace of mind I will pretend none of them have daughters

•

u/Kahzgul California 7h ago

They’re in information bubbles where they only hear how Paxton is an envoy from god and democrats are literally demons from hell.

•

u/R2D2808 5h ago

I feel like this a point that a lot of us Redditors don't really absorb.

They consume what most of us would consider utter insanity.

So it makes total sense that they have zero issues voting/feeling/acting the way they do.

•

u/erin_mouse88 2h ago

This is the key to realizing that many arent necessarily bad people....they're just ....idiots.

These idiots have slowly been led doen the tunney to believe the BS theyve been fed for years, theyve been conned, scammed, so slowly they dont even realize. These idiots have no idea the reality of what's going on. Its like the Truman Show.

•

u/darsynia Pennsylvania 5h ago

I wish more people who think Democrats are bad would understand the difference between that and the dehumanization going on. You'd think the informant crap from yesterday would twig some of them onto the similarities between previous regimes and this one. If your leaders dehumanize your neighbors, what will they do to them when they get the full power they're asking you to vote for??

Been saying this. MAGA is a reflection of what many people truly were on the inside. They could never express it before he came to power.

But I take only 1 consolation from all of this: they exposed who they are, they can’t hide again. When maga collapses.. the retribution will be brutal.

The problem is how much of this country loves that. The fact that there are 77 million evil people is compounded by tens of millions more who just shrug. It's like driving down a highway, seeing a guy stringing up a puppy to hang, and thinking "well the puppy is probably an asshole", and driving on.

129

u/SanchoPandas Oregon 8h ago

Reminds me of this Desmond Tutu quote from 1984:

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.

•

u/Blarfk 6h ago

Unfortunately we're not even talking about people who are neutral, but rather people who actively and gleefully support the oppressors.

27

u/Emotional-Channel-42 8h ago

Yup. Being a bad person and conservative have been synonymous my entire life, and well before.

The reason this is awful - for those who didn't read the article:

Acton was sexually abused by her birth mother's second husband from 10-12 years of age. He was convicted indicted by a grand jury for it. Her birth mother stood by him and later fled the state with him.

Acton has not had contact with her birth mother since 1978. Ramasaway ran an ad featuring Acton's birth mother who calls her a liar and generally disparages Acton.

It is truly disgusting.

•

u/thehalfwit Nevada 6h ago

Nothing says Republican like siding with sexual predators and blaming the victim.

•

u/ScaleneWangPole 7h ago

I was going to say that Marsha Blackburn in TN crushing fortune cookies to demonstrate that she'll be "tough on China" couldn't be much worse, but no, this is actually worse.

•

u/dalivo 4h ago

I can't think of a political ad in American history that is worse than this one. That includes all sorts of racist ads. This one doesn't even have a patina of perfume - just raw shit.

Not defending him but Grand Juries do not convict anyone and, legally, this is an important distinction, especially in the USA.

With that said, I’m sure the Grand Jury saw sufficient evidence for them to vote that there was probable cause to charge that piece of crap with a crime.

•

Read the second sentence they wrote right after the grand jury conviction... He fled the state with her birth mother. So not the actions of an innocent person. Here's from the article:

"My birth mother’s husband was arrested, charged with rape, and indicted by a grand jury. At 12 years old, I testified in court. I haven’t seen my birth mother since that day in 1978. She and her husband fled the state and he was declared a fugitive.”

I don't think the campaign manager quite realizes yet the blowback he's getting.

70

They were already behind in polling before the ad. I fully believe they don't care about winning, they just want to be as hurtful and ugly and vicious as they can for the rest of the race.

It keeps Ramaswamy's putrid name in the news which can become a springboard for further rightwing operations.

Fully divorced from any questions of ethics or morals or basic human decency, I understand why he’s doubling down. That ad is absolutely vile, and only a despicable pig would run it, and Ramaswamy knows that he gains nothing by apologizing for his loathsome act and that his only chance now is to own it and try to get elected King Swine of the Slop Trough.

214

u/ThatNewSockFeel 10h ago

It’s from the Trump playbook. Saying you’re sorry just opens a can of worms. Who created this ad? Who viewed it? Who approved it? Why did you think it was a good ad to run? Don’t you think it crosses a line? Etc.

Just deny deny deny until the reporters move on.

48

u/RainbowConnickJr 10h ago

Well except he isn’t denying. He’s come out and declares that yes he’s responsible for the ad and he stands by it, and they are spending four million dollars to broadcast it everywhere in Ohio for the last two weeks of the election.

39

u/ThatNewSockFeel 10h ago

Deny as in deny it’s bad, crosses a line, etc.

They are so desperate that they just attack before doing any basic research.

I imagine it unfolded similarly to Kennedy going after Jack Smith with some stupid "gotcha" about him being at a basketball game, when he had the facts completely wrong. In both cases, they either did no research at all. or someone did the research and found problems, but the facts were ignored because it didn't fit the narrative.

29

u/Mand125 8h ago

Because in their minds people are defined as good or bad.  Any action a good person does is therefore good, and any action a bad person does is therefore bad.

The rest of us, who live in the world of sanity, believe that actions are defined as good or bad, and that a person becomes either good or bad by their actions.

8

u/Omateido 8h ago

To build on this, the reason they believe that people are defined as good or bad is because they are taught that what you believe defines what kind of person you are. This is a core belief of fundamentalist Christianity, if you accept (believe) Jesus is your lord and savior, you are accepted into heaven (are defined as good), regardless of whatever sins (actions) you committed. It is a literal ticket to justifying atrocity.

My state is full of MAGA Republican trash that care nothing more than to vote for whomever has the R next to their name.

They'll claim Amy is lying and that the pushback against the ad is fake news. The same people that accuse liberals of being "sheep" will blindly follow and worship Trump and his cronies, no matter what they say or do.

That didn't help, but there were a bunch of issues with the Campbell campaign, along with the absolute disgust with the Mulroney government, that made it unlikely that she could win. The real turning point in the campaign came when she said that unemployment would remain high and she had no plan to deal with it - her support dropped off a cliff immediately.

She was a weak candidate in every way. The PCs were determined to have a woman be PM - good for them - but all of the strong candidates, like Carney and McDougall, declined to run, so they wound up with a political rookie and serial liar, with none of the necessary political instincts.

Trump has tried to exude and re-set manhood into being tough, strong, always right, and Kegseth talks about american military warrior culture --- and then there's Vivek Ramasmarmy putting out an ad that betrays being a strong man by turning being a man into being desperate, out of touch, willing to commit crimes to win (the ad may have violated federal election laws initially), cowardly and a con man.

Could Dr. Acton or Dr. Acton's family sue Ramasmarmy for defamation? This ad seems to cross a line and serve no political purpose. It's an attempt to trigger trauma with the goal of character smear. I find this hard to defend as political speech, no?

A piece of shit like all of them

3

u/gwendolyn_trundlebed 9h ago

At least now Dr. Acton can say her mother did one good thing for her. She basically handed her the governor's race.

3

u/agawl81 8h ago

So are they trying to convince the public that sex crimes against children aren’t a crime ?

Now that the Republicans know that there is sexual abuse behind this commercial, they can use it as a masturbation aid.

•

u/jrblockquote 7h ago

Jesus and Howard Dean's campaign crapped out because of a "Yeah!" Somehow this fucking slug's campaign rolls on.

•

u/Oregon-outdoors2358 5h ago

MAGA women do you approve of this filth? Of course you do, you elected Trump who rapes children!!

•

u/Major_LeeHungg 1h ago

I've seen this damn article all day... Still haven't seen the ad.

•

u/Equivalent-Bad-268 40m ago

The ad was probably pulled because it's so bad. It's literally her mother who chose her pedophile boyfriend over her 12 year old daughter.

3

u/DouglasRather 10h ago

Ohio, is this really the man you want for your governor? Another billionaire who made his money by ripping other people off? Come on - you are better than this.

5

u/DenaliBurnz 10h ago

Abusers support abusers.

I thought the worst political commercial of all time was the Indiana congressional election in the early 1990's where one candidate (who later made governor and VP) had an "Arab" dressed the part thanking his opponent for high gasoline prices

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/mike-pence-negative-campaigning-229030

True enough though, Vivek's "mom" ad truly dwarfs the above.

6

u/Funkybunch2000 8h ago

As a DRP'ed federal employee, I'll never forget this POS was originally named as a co-leader of DOGE. He can fuck right off.

3

u/GhostBeefSandwich 8h ago

Does he think if he surrounds himself with enough pedophiles that his potential constituents will forget he's not white?

u/writeyourwayout 7h ago

Sounds like it's time to send a(nother) donation to Dr. Amy Acton!

•

u/YoungCubSaysWoof 7h ago

I watched the ad, and thought it was devastating towards Amy Acton.

Then I read how Amy’s mother is estranged, and allowed Amy to get sexually abused / raped when she was 12 years old by her husband (who was tried and convicted)!

I guess they are betting on people not knowing that full story and just hoping that the mother putting down her daughter is a devastating attack? If so, God that is so low.

•

u/TurboSalsa Texas 7h ago

The 4D chess move would've been to disown that ad and make Democrats prove his campaign was behind it. Taking the high road, even if he did make the ad, would've made it a little easier for Republicans who were already holding their nose to vote for him.

Instead, he chose to double down even after the ad was debunked and panned by everyone outside of MAGA Twitter, but his campaign is so online they don't even realize how scummy it makes him look to normal people (and he looked pretty scummy before).

He stepped on a landmine and instead of trying to extricate himself from the minefield he's going further into it.

•

u/Ok-Horror-4253 5h ago

i'd like to think this is enough to kill his political career as a whole, but, there's a pedo in the white house.

•

u/HorrorOk1304 5h ago

He never had a political career.

•

u/TheRC135 4h ago

Jesus, this is low. Even for a Republican.

•

u/FocsSus 4h ago

Political candidate was raped by her step father when she was 12 and her opponent aired an ad with her estranged mother who calls her a liar.

Just wow.

Hope she beats Ramaswamy by more than 8 points.

10

u/swiftfoot_hiker 10h ago

Vivek may have just sealed the Election for Amy Acton. Just when you think Republicans couldn't be more pathetic, they sink even lower. This ad is going to backfire so badly for him, and the fact that reports are saying he's going to double down and spend more money airing it, shows how desperate he is

7

u/Common_Shelter_4605 10h ago

Vivek may have just sealed the Election for Amy Acton

He may have also sealed the election for Sherrod Brown, and a Democratic majority in the Senate

I am not getting my hopes up. I lost faith in the Ohio electorate in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

10

u/Dull_Investigator358 10h ago

With so many pedophile friends, he might truly believe every 12 year old girl is a liar.

3

u/dreaganusaf 10h ago

Viv Ramiscammy is such a little weasel excuse of a man. Viv - Go back to Texas with your LazyEyeGuy Ken Paxton.

3

u/pogishushu America 10h ago

The pedofile list is continuing down the gop ladder. Looks like it has or will reach even the cultist that support the trump Fascist Regime.

3

u/oliversurpless Massachusetts 9h ago

Ah, Vivek is clearly angling to be the heretofore successor to James O’Keefe (anyone remember him?)…

https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/12/ye-of-bad-faith/547562/

“There is perhaps no better demonstration of the bad faith that persists on the populist Right than the actions of James O’Keefe as he solicits donations for Project Veritas.”

3

u/zara2355 8h ago

Why, why are Republicans so ok with child molestation and pedophilia?

•

u/ConditionNo9459 7h ago

Hoping this despicable, vile ad is the end of Ramaswarmy.

•

u/ProfessorVolga 5h ago

Only the ceaseless depravity of the GOP would create an attack ad going 'oh yeah? Well, my opponent was raped as a child in the 1970s!' and think it was a home run

•

u/roscoe_e_roscoe 4h ago

As you know, being an asshole or criminal is a badge of honor for the right wing. Election fraud? No prob! Pedophile? Step right in the tent here!

Sad but true. For the right wing, stuff like this is how become made, like a gangster.

•

u/Positive-Room7421 3h ago

Everyone seems to be making the assumption that conservatives are offended by child rape.

•

u/SigmaAgonist 1h ago

In addition to not being elected for a despicable ad, he should be arrested for campaign finance rule violations. I know it's a long shot, but it should happen.

4

u/BareNakedSole 8h ago

I’m trying to figure out the angle here.

There’s the angle that he figures that Ohio voters are so preprogrammed to vote Republican that this is a good way to solidify the vote against a lying Democrat who abandoned her mother and they just assume she lying about the SA.

Then there the angle where he probably understands that this was a mistake but he HAS to embrace the message at this point.

I would gladly trade the state of Ohio to another country but I’m sure there would be no takers.

8

u/jayfeather31 Washington 10h ago

At this point, it's not a question of if Vivek loses, it's a question of by how much.

38

u/Timmah73 10h ago

Its Ohio man. I keep telling myself he just ended his chances right? Then I remember they elected Vance for senate and keep putting gym Jordan in there.

20

u/Ianthin1 9h ago

Neither of those guys are brown skinned. Vivek would be a runaway lock if it weren’t for that. It’s the one MAGA trait he may not be able to overcome.

7

u/Nythoren 9h ago

True, but there's a surprising number of people who vote every cycle that have no idea what the person they're voting for looks like or what their views are. They just see that little (R) next to the name and full in the bubble.

9

u/TheRegalOneGen 9h ago

I mean... He doesn't have a traditionally white name either.

Reminder that in Michigan, a literal WITHDRAWN CANDIDATE won over the Trump endorsee because his name was Amir Hasan. The dude who was won was Thomas Smith and he got over 50% of the vote. After withdrawing.

3

u/DinosaurHeaven 9h ago

But the (R) is followed by the name Ramaswamy, and there are at least tens of MAGA voters that know how to read before racially profiling a candidate.

5

u/ThatNewSockFeel 9h ago

He has a funny name too.

In further news: Ramaswamy will not be campaigning while he tends to the bullet shaped hole in his foot.

(He is a particularly despicable human being.)

2

u/conniefrancis 9h ago

He's a foul piece of shit

2

u/royale_wthCheEsE 8h ago

I wonder how much they paid that disgusting old crone. Maybe she took only 100 cartons of Marlboro Reds.

2

u/Dantien 8h ago

Republicans only care about winning, not how they do so. That is their entire character laid bare - no principles, no backbone, no honesty. Just “beat my opponent at all costs” and they never really think about those costs…

Until they have to pay and then it’s “no fair!!” and DARVO. In my 5 decades I’ve never seen humans so lacking in empathy at this scale. Maybe it’s the internet and modern media visibility but when it comes to virtue… I can’t find a single one in the GOP.

2

u/odinseye97 8h ago

Vivek pushing hard to get the pro-Epstein vote.

2

u/gaudiest-ivy 8h ago

The entire MAGA movement is just a deliberate race to the bottom. If more vile a shithead you are, the more they're clamoring to vote for you.

•

u/Actual__Wizard 5h ago

I'm a person that left the advertising/marketing industry due to unethical behavior that was way better then that.

It's pretty bad, but it's certainly not as bad as Google manipulating kids with ads for genocide though.

Granted, this campaign was "brought to you by YouTube" as well.

So, thank you Google for the two most disgusting ad campaigns probably in the past 25 years?

They're a bunch of evil monsters...

•

u/jocoquecousteau 2h ago

Human scum. He shouldn’t be allowed near kids, let alone public office.
