TL:DR

  1. Consecration major nerf - The spell power coefficient per tick dropped from 0.095 to 0.042, a reduction of approximately 56%.

  2. Shield Specialization mana nerf - Mana restored per block drops from 6% to 4%, with the same three-second internal cooldown.

  3. Seal of Righteousness damage nerf - Its spell damage modifier was too high during beta and has been corrected.

  4. Righteous Fury threat buff - Holy damage threat generation rises from 60% to 90%.

Forever Beta Feedback What is the "Thunder Falls" leveling exploit?

Post image
44 Upvotes

On EU stress test there is currently one Paladin at level 26 while everyone else is 17 max. He is sitting in "Thunder Falls" zone and you can literally watch how he gains a level every few minutes...

What kind of exploit is going on there? What even is "Thunder Falls"???

[Edit] During the time it took to make this post he already reached lvl 27....

Forever Beta Feedback I love to level alts via dungeons

I have never “spammed” dungeons. I let my alts get fully rested then run a couple dungeons a night until they’re unrested, then work on another toon in the meantime. This has always been my preferred playstyle but apparently Forever “isn’t for me” according to many people on Reddit.

Why are so many people here so snotty about people enjoying dungeons for exp?

Forever Mankrik’s Wife, or: How Everything Looks Like a Nail When You’re a Hammer

(also posted this on the forums, have been thinking about this more than i should (obviously) so i wanted to put this into the void, maybe a dev sees or someone else agrees or felt the same)

Part 0, Personal Statement

Prefacing everything I’m going to say: I’m not complaining about an addition or removal. I’m not petitioning for a further change. I’m asking Why and asking the developers to ask Why as well. Also, AI-free writing ahead so feel free to correct typos or ask for clarification if something sounds weird.

Part 1, the Who and What:

Anyone who has rolled Horde from vanilla’s inception through present day (in Classic and Retail), can encounter Mankrik in the Crossroads. He offers two quests that tell a story via just their names: “Lost in Battle” and “Consumed by Hatred.” He tasks you with finding some news of his wife (unnamed for most of WoW’s history) following a battle they had with the Bristleback Quillboar of the Southern Barrens. He also asks that you collect sixty tusks from the Quillboar. This quest isn’t “iconic” the way that class quests are or the way that Linken (and other world-spanning tales) are either. The quest is almost entirely a meme for people asking “where’s Mankrik’s wife” in Barren’s general chat. It’s largely incongruent with the general tone of the quests’ texts, but it gives the quests and Mankrik himself some amount of notoriety and keeps him alive in popular memory.

The quest “Consumed by Hatred” plainly lays out in the first line: “Perhaps you know the pain of uncertainty, perhaps not <Player Class>.” We are given both quests at once, the uncertainty Mankrik speaks of is uncertainty of his wife being alive or having fallen victim to the Quillboar as he nearly did. Through your travels South, you find his wife’s remains nestled in a small tent near the Bristleback encampments. When you eventually bring news of her to Mankrik, all he manages to say is “I understand. Thank you, <Class>.” Thus ends our relationship with Mankrik. We bring him some form of closure, or certainty at least, and we help him indulge in his pursuit of violent revenge.

The story does not end here, merely the relationship between us and Mankrik. The next day, Mankrik will still have to awake into an Azeroth without his wife, he will still need to work, gather food, and avoid the dangers of the Barrens, and now he has to do all of this with the added weight of grief and loss. But we don’t see that, and that’s OK.

Part 2, The Nail and the Hammer:

In WoW: Forever an addition has been made here. Mankrik will give a follow up to “Lost in Battle” named “Her Name Is Olgra.” The new quests asks players to collect jewelry or “adornments” she wore from the Razormane Raiders (newly added mob type). This quest is not inherently bad, it makes mechanical and emotional sense to collect keepsakes of Olgra for Mankrik. It’s a smart follow up and a clean way to add a little extra experience points to an old quest giver. But now we begin to run up against what I view as a “canary in the coal mine” for Forever storytelling.

Upon completion, the Spirit of Olgra appears before you and Mankrik and implores him “Remember me, husband, but do not let your life be consumed by revenge!” We must ask ourselves now, why was this added to the game?

To preface this: no, there isn’t anything wrong with completing the narrative in such a way. It’s not poorly designed, it's not completely out of step with lore and the larger world. To me, it’s a question of “why?” Was this quest and were the characters in need of such an explicit ending? I don’t intend to insult the developers with this line of questioning, but I merely wish to understand how this fits in with their larger philosophy of the world and its stories.

The original set of quests end with ambiguity. We don’t know what will become of Mankrik, we don’t know how long the tusks we’ve brought him will offer comfort, and we don’t need to know either. I fear that the developers looked at this quest and saw something “unfinished” when instead the ending is, as the great philosopher Natasha Bedingfield once stated, “unwritten.” There are more than a handful of quests throughout Classic that take this approach. The story is left unwritten and outside of the player character’s view. Now, Mankrik is given explicit instruction on how he is to carry on living. It’s a more conventional ending, but by becoming a more conventional ending we’ve lost some of the charm that Classic questing can have: when a quest feels like a temporary and incidental glimpse into the interior life of an NPC.

I fear that developers viewed this ambiguity as a problem to be solved, a nail to be hammered. Without knowing the authorial intent for the original design, the quests leave with the player having to consider the story as part of a larger fabric. Mankrik is just another Orc on Kalimdor, the raid that robbed Olgra of her life is a reality of life in this often brutal world, and the assistance we provide is temporary and not all-encompassing. That’s where it ends for us, we have our permission to view Mankrik’s life revoked upon quest completion. This is OK, this is Azeroth after all, and our journey is just starting.

Part 3, Let it Be, or: A Story Without Conclusion is not A Story Unfinished

Is the addition of an explicit ending bad? No, it might be necessary across other quest chains in fact. What I ask instead: was this conclusion needed?

The stories that can be told in Azeroth are innumerable. The world is vast, the people and personalities even moreso. There’s true potential in fresh eyes approaching Classic Azeroth and tugging at old threads to weave a new tapestry. This doesn’t mean, though, that all threads need to be tied off at the end. Mysteries do not always need to be solved for a compelling story, much like every tragedy does not need catharsis.

The Hammer is an effective tool, but so is the Seed Dibbler or the Watering Can. We can pick up and put down narratives. We can leave them simmering in the background–bubbling over or quieting down only for them to be reignited when a new stimulus is introduced.

The stories told in Azeroth don’t stop when the players fly to a new zone. The world continues to breathe, the NPCs (presumably) continue about their daily lives, and new conflicts arise and quiet down–all completely out of our view. We are not the inciting event for the narratives that unfold in front of us. We are adventurers, not champions nor heroes.

Humor / Meme The day is November 4th, 2026

The day is November 4th, 2026.

The office is getting repainted so your boss sent everyone home for the rest of the week. Your wife took the kids to the mother in laws house for the end of the week and weekend. You log into to wow servers at 3:01 and there is no queue. You head into character creation and find your main, name reserved and all, there ready for you. You watch the opening cinematic to your favorite starting zone and jump right in. It’s smooth sailing in the starter zone with everyone taking turns, lining up, and grouping up for quest mobs.

You hit level 10 and open up your talent trees. Wait a minute, something is different. Your talent trees are off, but reworked, optimized, buffed even. “The devs must have…” you mutter to yourself behind a big grin. Suddenly you notice general chat. Everyone is talking about how good the game feels. Almost everyone…

You group up for RFC at level 13 with all your friends. One of them dings 14 mid dungeon! “Did they revert the dungeon xp…. Yes they did!”, you realize.

You finish up and head back into Org. You can’t help but see trade chat light up. Mages left and right are fuming. “How could they??”, “What am I supposed to spam now?”, you see from random mages across the land. It’s Ice Lance…. It’s been removed from the game! “Blizz you sly dogs, you”, you say to yourself with a warm smile.

You check the clock. It’s just past midnight. You log out for the night. You head to bed, it’s chilly out, but you have warm covers and sleep happy knowing things are going to be good.

Forever Enchanting Vellums

With all the changes going on to combat RMT and people being warned not to take gold from strangers Vellums really should be added to the game. I know i will be reluctant to sell enchants to players i do not know and will instead just sell mats because i would prefer to not risk a ban even if it is unlikely.

Forever The United States stress test was.. Oddly smooth? I didn't have to compete for tags after the first few minutes. Did Blizzard even get enough participants?

• Upvotes

I know the timing was not ideal for a lot of people depending on your time zone, but after just a few minutes it felt like I was leveling on a dead server, and I can't tell if I get perma'd to a layer that just had no players on it or what. Legit was an empty starter zone on Alliance after the initial few minutes.

Wondering if they even got enough players to realistically stress test if I found my way on my own layer quickly after it launched for the United States.

Forever Beta Feedback Haste should work on channeled spells

During TBC haste decreased the duration of channeled spells (Mind flay, Wrack, Drain life) because it made sense to do so.

In wow forever haste does not decrease channeled spells making it a really bad stat for shadow priests or affliction warlocks.

Crit is a good stat for every class and spec in wow forever (tanks generate more threat, dps do more dps, healers heal more) and I think haste should also be a good stat for every single class and spec just like crit.

Thoughts?

Went ahead and parked my beta character in the mountains of Loch Modan so he can sunset with a view. I planned on doing a Lone Wolf build for Forever, but I got too attached to this silly little bird. I’ll remake him in a few weeks, but it won’t be the same Nippy.

VIVA LA REVOLUCION

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/official-communiqu%C3%A9-of-the-peoples-revolutionary-rp-pvp-liberation-front/2389017

For TOO LONG we have been oppressed.

For TOO LONG we have been IGNORED

False facts about our people's History contorted and thrown back at us as reasons for why we should not exist.

NO MORE!

Grobbulus was NOT an accident.

It was the culmination of YEARS of buildup from communities since 2004, who finally came together in 2019 under one banner.

Crusader Strike SoD was NOT the community's failure.

Blizzard let the streamers' fanatics run rampant with no moderation, then went for a half-baked attempt at a solution in Chaos Bolt, only to turn around and close it anyway. This is NOT GOOD DATA. Neither is any temporary or seasonal realm. We need a chance to prove we care about staying power, and this is literally FOREVER!

WE ARE MANY AND WE ARE DEDICATED

If the last few weeks have not made it obvious, a veritable Legion of RP-PvPers old and new have been waiting in the wings for a long-lasting version of WoW to call our home just as we did with Grobbulus back in 2019. We maxed out a Forum Thread, with another one halfway there! We're on the servers, in Discord, on Reddit clammoring for this.

WE ARE THE ONLY ONES BEING SPLIT

WE WILL NOT BE PUT DOWN.

GIVE US RP PVP

OR GIVE US DEATH
