I play a troll. They look pretty good to me at least.

Then I transformed into a human from a trick or treat at an inn and got turned into a human female. Holy balls the face was a real Halloween scare!

HD models bad

42

u/SystemGardener 7h ago edited 7h ago

HD models are going to be significantly more popular.

Edit : Reddit does not represent the average player in the slightest. This echo chamber is far from accurate.

•

u/AccomplishedProof260 1h ago

Even on reddit this post didn't go anywhere

•

u/Crasp27 2h ago

The HD models would be more popular regardless of how they look because most people just see the options and select the one that says "enhanced", because ordinarily, why wouldn't you pick HD? AND it's the one on by default. So it's not really indicative of anything.

•

u/TheBungler2 16m ago

That makes sense for the other settings, but this toggle is on the character creation screen.

-10

u/elyk12121212 5h ago

More popular doesn't mean better for the long term health of the game

•

u/LegitimateRule2457 4h ago edited 4h ago

And why is sd better for the long term compared to hd? Im sure both sides can give valid arguments for why it should be their version but guess what, we get both!

•

u/_nitsu 2h ago

Because the art style of this game is classic. The world is in sd and every model should be too

5

u/Im_Unsure_For_Sure 5h ago

Neither does whatever opinion you hold. Future being unknowable and all. Useful stuff.

•

u/TWFH 3h ago

Now explain that to everyone who has ever bitched about an MMO being too hard

-14

u/wtbvaltrex 7h ago

13

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

Nah, everyone I know who plays classic and all my guildies plan on using them. It’s purely the Reddit echo chamber that doesn’t like them. Reddit does not represent the average player.

-10

u/wtbvaltrex 7h ago

Everyone I know who plays classic and all my guildies have it turned off. It’s purely the Reddit echo chamber that likes them. Reddit does not represent the average player.

6

u/hamstervideo 7h ago

"your echo chamber is wrong and I know this because of MY echo chamber"

10

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

You genuinely think Reddit represents the average player?

-7

u/hamstervideo 7h ago

You genuinely think your guild does?

6

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

More so than this sub Reddit yes. Majority of wow players don’t interact with online forums and discussion.

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

Guy who has severe undiagnosed Confirmation Bias and uses GIFs from 2011

6

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

Yes I’m the one with undiagnosed confirmation bias… You genuinely think this sub represents the average wow player?

-10

u/nano_peen 6h ago

Who cares what’s more popular? I will always consider SD better than HD and that’s my opinion

2

u/SystemGardener 6h ago

And I’m not saying that’s wrong. I think it’s great they have both options and it would’ve been wrong to not provide both. I’m just saying I think the HD ones will be more widely used.

•

u/ImpossibleMorning12 2h ago

A game that appeals slightly to everyone is inferior than a game that appeals a lot to a few.

-12

u/Various_Mud_4578 6h ago

Yes because popular = good

17

u/oblakoff 8h ago

I seriously hope Blizz is keeping track of which mode is used and release them after a month or two

14

u/Anxious-Schedule-598 7h ago

I think people who aren’t super familiar with WoW forever details will choose “enhanced” because it sounds better without realizing the art style shift and how they don’t fit in the SD world.

8

u/flyingfox227 8h ago

Would be hilarious is majority of user actually use HD and they start to pivot.

12

u/AntonineWall 6h ago

There is no chance in hell that the majority of users actually use SD. I recognize that might not be a popular view here but the majority of people just dont care even 1/100th as much about basically any of this than we do; by having to go to a completely separate website -> subreddit for the game to chat about it, you’ve screened out the vast majority of players who just don’t care that much.

This leads to a looot of big echo chambers that aren’t that likely to represent the average players’ beliefs

•

u/TheBungler2 23m ago

People forget that this place is an echochamber. Half of this sub is ready to quit playing over the sharding, but the server is still going to be the most populated Classic release since 2019.

10

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

It’s 100% going to be the case, even most classic players I know between RL friends and guildies love them and plan on using them. It’s only the Reddit echo chamber that doesn’t.

11

u/nrd1337 7h ago

Seeing as how an estimated 70-90% of all WoW players are retail players something tells me they're gonna lean towards what the modern WoW player wants visually while keeping it more classic gameplay oriented. I assume they're also going to lean that way because of cost of future updates, but who knows for sure

•

u/Hydra_Bloodrunner 4h ago

Oh no, now you’ve done it.

Classic andy’s literally cant understand that retail has 3x more players than all the servers for classic, sod etc combined- with an overlap between the two as well lmao.

•

u/Front-Investigator68 2h ago

Yeah so let’s make a game based on classic for retail players ok got it

•

u/TheBungler2 21m ago

It's for everyone, not just you.

-7

u/wtbvaltrex 7h ago

12

u/JeDi_Five 7h ago

Looking at the number of logs will tell you how healthy one population is vs the other.

10

u/rewt127 7h ago edited 6h ago

And I guarantee (and no i mean like literally yes they do) Blizzard tracks ADUs (active daily users) for all different versions of the game.

And I can guarantee that outside of week 10 of a season where M+ is basically dead. Retail has more ADUs than all classic versions combined.

They know where their bread is buttered lol. This isnt to say classic isnt a revenue source. It absolutely is. They track if players play one or both. And im certain they make enough sub money off classic only players to justify its existence. But they absolutely make more off the retail only players. And the HD models cater to them.

EDIT: And you can just have it track whether that account has logged into retail or classic in the last 30/60/90 days or both. Have it export to a excel file. And have an intern pull the data together. It would take him an hour or 2 max. Now with AI tools you could get that data in a nice tabled PDF in 1 minute. They absolutely have all this data.

•

u/elyk12121212 2h ago

It costs a lot more money to run retail than it does classic.

-5

u/Anxious-Schedule-598 7h ago

Well 100% of WoW players are subscribed without Forever being out. This is meant to draw new/returning subscribers who left. So those numbers don’t matter that much, even if they were accurate.

•

u/Salamander115 4h ago

No sub required to play the beta.

-3

u/nano_peen 6h ago

Source?

•

u/nrd1337 4h ago
  • Warcraft Logs (endgame raid parsing metrics across both Retail and Classic)
  • Ironforge.pro (aggregates unique Classic raiders via Warcraft Logs)
  • Raider.io (tracks Mythic+ run and dungeon participant volume on Retail)
  • ActivePlayer.io (third-party subscriber modeling and digital traffic estimation)
  • Blizzard GDC & Investor Reports (executive commentary on long-term daily active user trends)

•

u/A_Random_Encounter 3h ago

I guarantee the majority of players are going to be using SD. Reddit is such a vocal minority of the player base who will be playing Forever.

Most people are going to want the game to look as good as possible, which means full HD

•

u/KappuccinoBoi 2h ago

Yeah, the only people I see bitching and moaning about the models and textures and skeletons are dweebs on reddit. I don't think I've seen any negative comments in any of the guild/raiding discords I'm in, or from any the many friends I have that play the game. The only comments I've seen in my circles of actual players are "Oh, these new models are nice."

Like come tf on, let's not pretend most people don't zoom out to max distance so they can see shit better around them. I don't think I've ever really taken close up looks at people in the game.

I also have mild face blindness so, maybe that's just me.

-4

u/oblakoff 7h ago

Even more hilarious is people already starting making excuses why HD will be massively more popular :>

-9

u/Front-Investigator68 8h ago

Most will probably use SD and then they’ll drop SD because blizzard makes the wrong decision at every turn

6

u/whats_up_doc71 8h ago

Eh a lot of people who aren’t super into Classic are going to play forever, and they’ll probably use HD. And then even among players who ARE super into Classic, it’s still probably like 70/30 sd/hd.

5

u/itsmassivebtw 8h ago

Played OG 2004 launch, pservers, classic, anniversary classic, and I'll use HD. Not sure why people think just because we play classic it can't have a couple more polygons.

2

u/JeDi_Five 7h ago

If I can use HD dwarf with SD skeleton, that's what I'll do.

-1

u/whats_up_doc71 8h ago

Well the models kinda look like shit regardless of polygon count. Lots of the graphical updates are well received by lots of the classic base. But I don’t think the models are.

7

u/itsmassivebtw 8h ago

Looks fine to me

0

u/whats_up_doc71 8h ago

Good for you brotha

0

u/Pencildragon 7h ago

Cool give me the old models with more polygons then.

1

u/aluriilol 8h ago

It’s like 90/10 HD/SD

0

u/Working_Complex8122 8h ago

it's not like we got the original models. The faces lack any sort of expression that was previously there and are still just blurry. I would've liked upscaled SD models but this is just awful. Looks like wearing a mask from the Halloween event.

24

u/Randvek 8h ago

90% of players will never even try the toggle so they will be HD by default. SD lovers are a very loud, very small minority.

5

u/LoreChief 7h ago

Yeah that's what I think was shown in the polls too. I think SD enjoyers are under the impression they are the majority which is quite an odd bubble. I really hope we get internal results about it, but honestly I hope it's pretty even so they can continue to develop for both.

-1

u/aluriilol 7h ago

SD players when they realize they are 2% of the playerbase or less

(Actually they are copelords so im guessing they'll be like "the poll is wrong" or "it is so shit thats why, 99% WANT sd but they cant with how shit it is")

1

u/Pencildragon 7h ago

It being default will have more influence than literally any other factor. So many people will never even know they could change it.

6

u/Independent_Award239 8h ago

Most people that I’ve spoken to in game and on Reddit are using HD. I’ve come across maybe 10 people saying they’re playing pure SD.

1

u/aluriilol 8h ago

Most use SD is such a cope. Nobody in my friend group has SD on and we’re 20+ people who met in covid classic.

1

u/BottleEquivalent4581 8h ago

Most will probably keep the default option, whatever it is.

2

u/no_shoes_are_canny 7h ago

There is no default, you're given the choice of SD or HD when you first log in. HD is gonna be far more popular

2

u/BottleEquivalent4581 7h ago

Oh yeah it's 100% gonna be HD

0

u/Pencildragon 7h ago

They really fucked it by saying flat out saying one is worse than the other in the text. It's true that SD has less polygons than HD, but they really should've said "Classic" and "Modern" because those are far more accurate descriptors. People who don't know won't care and just click whatever the new thing is, zero thought given before or after.

•

u/ClassicKrova 2h ago

I'm fully expecting this to be the case, but with Humans being the most popular Alliance race, it baffles me that people would chose to be an HD model Human.

1

u/MeltBanana 6h ago

Default settings make that date biased and meaningless. So many people never actually look into their graphics settings to manually adjust things. I've known people that don't even know what resolution they're playing at, nevermind individual settings.

Most people are just going to select "enhanced" upon first login because it sounds better, and then never even think about changing settings so long as the game runs and is playable.

0

u/WendigoCrossing 8h ago

I plan on swapping back and forth on a a whim

Making full use of the features I pay for haha

15

u/Fading_Hours_ 7h ago edited 2h ago

Can we get actual HD models and not just back ported WoD models that don’t fit the game?

Feels like I’m being gaslight by the community that WoD models fit and are somehow acceptable for Classic Plus.

•

u/Crasp27 2h ago

All of this. Yes I'd love HD versions of the SD models. That would be perfect.

8

u/wtbvaltrex 7h ago

“You Classic Andies hate change!!”

Meanwhile the change is just the ugliest fucking character models ever conceived

3

u/Fading_Hours_ 7h ago

They always result to strawmans because they have no other argument

0

u/Recknepsuwu 6h ago

i keep seeing stuff like "cant wait till they announce 90% of people are using HD and they stop making things in the ugly old nostalgia art style", just pulling numbers out of their ass

-4

u/Xeneron 5h ago edited 2h ago

Fine I'll chime in. I think the HD models look significantly better than the SD models. I have played WoW since 2006 and played pretty much every release in WoW since then on release day. While I played quite a lot of Vanilla Classic when it released (As well as TBC, WotLK, Cata, and MoP Classic after) I definitely consider myself more of a Retail player (Mythic raider since it first released in WoD - not counting the prepatch Siege of Orgrimmar Mythic version).

I think the HD models look much more expressive. I really dislike the "jpg slapped onto a head" look of a lot of the SD faces. Sure I have nostalgia from the game I played 20 years ago looking like that, but I also can recognize the good things about the new models and those outweigh my nostalgia.

The biggest problem I see with the classic community is the echo chamber is EXTREMELY loud. Even louder than most communities, of which all of them tend to have problems with echo chambers. Saying something like "The change is just the ugliest fucking character models ever conceived" is such a high level of hyperbole it's hard to even form an argument against it. And the echo chamber agrees, so they come to believe that everyone just hates this which couldn't be further from the truth.

EDIT: The result of this post has been the one person to respond has basically said "HD is objectively factually bad and your opinion is wrong" and then blocked me when I tried to have even the smallest conversation about subjectivity in the matter. And somehow people wonder why I complain about echo chambers.

4

u/Fading_Hours_ 5h ago edited 5h ago

This is what I mean by strawman. “It’s just nostalgia and an echo chamber” without even trying to understand how the WoD models change the vibe and atmosphere of the game, like being more disney-esque (with being more expressive part of that).

Also, you completely ignore how new HD models (instead of a lazy retail backport) could have stayed more faithful to vanilla and better fit into the game world, whilst still appealing to those that care about fidelity which was my original comment. It’s false dichotomy and feels so dishonest and bad faith.

•

u/Xeneron 3h ago

I understand the argument completely. I disagree. That isn't a straw man, it's a disagreement. The echo chamber has told you to not even consider the fact that someone could possibly like the HD models. I personally feel no change to the vibe or atmosphere of the game when I have HD on. That is absolutely an subjective feeling, but you try to treat it as if it is objective truth.

•

u/Fading_Hours_ 3h ago

You saying it is just nostalgia is untrue. I can’t take you in good faith. Bye

•

u/Xeneron 2h ago

You refuse to even entertain a different opinion, and you wonder why I complain about the classic echo chamber? I also never said that nostalgia was the only thing anyone likes about SD, but it would be the only reason I personally would choose it. My personal opinion is not everyone's point of view in the same way that your opinion isn't objective fact no matter how much you bury your head in the sand and try to pretend it is.

21

u/Wishfart 8h ago

The wow crybabies are crazy

9

u/nrd1337 8h ago

Complete insanity

-3

u/wtbvaltrex 7h ago

Complete insanity that people playing a classic-centric take on WoW want classic-centric models?

It’s already been stated a million times but people like you don’t seem understand that people don’t hate HD because it’s HD, they hate it because the HD models are just the ugly Disney retail models. If they faithfully updated the SD models to HD then this back and fourth wouldn’t be happening

•

u/nrd1337 3h ago

You realize there are a portion of us who have played for the whole duration of the game that want Retail to be like Forever but with modern day graphics, right? Just because this is what YOU want doesn't mean EVERYONE wants it and the fact that a majority of people who play World of Warcraft play Retail I wouldn't be surprised if the devs lean the Retail way. I don't want the people that believe as you do to hate this version of the game but this isn't classic, it's classic+ the "+" means improving on the original while staying in that world. It's 2026 the game should look like its from 2026. Warcraft has ALWAYS had a cartoon-y theme to it and IMO the new models are superior to the old ones. Are they perfect? no but they look much better than the old

14

u/notverysmawt 8h ago

The thing with the HD is everything looks so god damn goofy. Orc males become straight Roblox characters bouncing around like a kids show

2

u/FrugalCow 6h ago

People act like we don't play retail because the UI and models are bad. No thats not it LOL I like the QOL retail brings so imm be using the new UI and HD models

6

u/Weaslelord 8h ago

based and true

5

u/mait789 8h ago

For me, it doesnt make sense to use HD models when the world is still SD. Also, artstyle wise the Hd models could look a lot better than what we have now

•

u/DarkAztaroth 1h ago

Maybe they should upgrade the world to HD if that's the issue :S

•

u/mait789 1h ago

If that would be possible to put in a toggle then sure

6

u/SnakeBaboonKing 8h ago

I try to be a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" type of guy, but if u prefer the hd models i recommend getting said beholden eyes checked

1

u/SystemGardener 7h ago

Nah they look significantly better for most races and it’s not even close.

0

u/Andvari_Nidavellir 8h ago

13

u/BeautifulNose2210 8h ago

Yeah man these all look like shit I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove here

5

u/wtbvaltrex 7h ago

Notice how they use some of the horrendous retail hairstyles to exaggerate how bad SD looks?

People with absolutely no taste gaslighting everyone else into thinking their opinions are insane

6

u/SadieLady_ 6h ago

Nearly all of those SD models have cleft lips on them. They look ugly. Their faces look flat and they have no definition to any of the features. The eyes are narrow and beady and I can't see how anybody thinks they look better than the right images.

-4

u/nano_peen 6h ago

It’s not a fair comparison

4

u/SadieLady_ 6h ago

But it is, taking the hair out of the equation, the faces still look ugly.

I have some good news for you though: you can just play with the SD setting on and I'll play with the HD setting on and neither of us will know about the other one, and we can both enjoy the game how we want to.

1

u/ThatLeetGuy 5h ago

lol it's literal propaganda in terms of what they chose to represent for SD. Whoever made that picked the worst faces with the worst hairstyles and combined them into the ugliest combinations they could think of. No facial hair on any of them. Two of them are balding and two of them are using retail hairstyles on SD models which don't look right together.

Take two minutes to make a character that actually looks good and you'll have a result that looks better than both the SD and HD models provided in the image.

5

u/SnakeBaboonKing 8h ago

This comparison style only works if u do the same faces and hair etc across both examples

The SD side is clearly cherry picked to look worse and you know that

13

u/Bacon-muffin 8h ago

Kinda like every single "hd bad" post...

You're not meant to just toggle back and forth which is a legit criticism... you're meant to customize for the one you plan to use.

3

u/LooseSeal- 7h ago

This is exactly it. There is not a direct 1 for 1 from SD to HD. Definitely a miss on their part. But, all of these HD is bad posts are making a character in SD and then toggling it and you get some goofy mismatch looking model. If you made the character from scratch in HD mode they look fine.

3

u/SnakeBaboonKing 7h ago

I mean even his cherry picked hd ones look like shit my guy

0

u/Bacon-muffin 7h ago

Yeah that seems to be the point, that you can make either look like shit if you want.

I mean... we're starting with human male here which is already one of the worst looking models the game has had since day 1.

0

u/JeDi_Five 7h ago

They absolutely do. But don't sit there and act like most of the posts saying HD bad aren't also cherry picked. I've seen maybe 2 posts that directly compare the same face and hairstyle from SD to HD.

2

u/Anxious-Schedule-598 7h ago

The first time I saw this pic I genuinely couldn’t tell if it was meant to be pro HD or SD

3

u/sku11_k1dd 8h ago

I’ve seen this pic shared before and it’s not the flex you think it is

1

u/theycallmeJTMoney 8h ago

The faces are all so bad. Why does everyone look like they are fighting for their life on a toilet after doing the sugar free Harbio gummy bear challenge?

0

u/userrnam 8h ago

Top right has lupus or something what the hell

-3

u/Kirxcy 6h ago

Only reason im playing Forever is because I can play in HD. Looks better to me, sorry if I have the wrong opinion, but its my guilds opinion too, and we're moving from retail to Forever

2

u/Raptor_Jetpack 7h ago

its true tho

6

u/Nomadic_View 6h ago

I like the HD models.

2

u/Shmutterbutter 5h ago

Theyve grown on me. They're definitely not all good but most the horde don't look that bad.

1

u/mezz1945 5h ago

Blasphemy!

3

u/Verified_Peryak 8h ago

60 to 70% of people will play with HD tho

6

u/userrnam 8h ago

Got a source or just vibes?

7

u/analogjuicebox 8h ago

Wait, there’s a difference?

-1

u/purple_twonk 8h ago

Yea and most people watch reality-tv and eat eat slop whats your point. Popularity does not mean quality

3

u/Skylak 8h ago

Bread = bad cause popular

-1

u/Lightn1ng 7h ago

Reality TV is entertaining. Do I have to watch Neil deGrasse Tyson and C-SPAN exclusively?

0

u/nano_peen 6h ago

Based on what?

-1

u/Noobs_Man3 7h ago

yeah alot of people complain about humans ill be playing with hd models on though horde models are alot better.

-3

u/Grand_Highway1733 8h ago

I like em.

3

u/dm_ar19 8h ago

I will probably use the HD models because they totally fucked up the SD models and they look like garbage. Do a side by side with a classic client and forever and you'll see the difference.

1

u/technomanxy 5h ago

HD looks good tbh but not for humans and gnomes

•

u/Watermayne420 1h ago

What I never see anyone discussing is switching back and forth, I use SD for my Human Warrior, I use HD for my Dwarf Shaman, I use SD for my Nelf Hunter, I use HD for my Gnome Rogue.

•

u/tikitarget 1m ago

People don't understand that a lot of people dont mind HD modles, they just don't want ridiculous retail artstyle. I think a lot of people mean that when they say HD

1

u/Rascal_Dubois 7h ago

Gotta love how for years now Blizzard has had the resources to literally maintain multiple different versions of the game simultaneously, several with vastly different art styles.

Yet despite having nearly a decade of evidence that they have the resources to support multiple separate versions of the game, the breaking point for Blizzards resources (according to this sub) will be maintaining two character art syles in Forever. That is simply not possible.

Are people genuinely this dumb?

0

u/ReanimatedBlink 6h ago

No, the point is that developing older art styles isn't as easy as "lower the resolution".

The older artstyle was a byproduct of technical limitations. When you are FORCED to work within limitations you tend to get much more creative with how to work around them. Those limitations no longer exist so matching the exact style that existed in 2004 is really not possible.

Thats without getting into the problem of technology and training. New developers and designers aren't using the old tech, they're using new tech that naturally smooths things out.

Dedicating a significant number of resources to developing wholely new content in the exact style that will prevent you bozos from crying is an impossible task and one they shouldn't waste their time on. You guys have already proven you won't stop bitching about it. I'd rather have them spend their time on the actual game.

And yes, this is coming from someone who first bought the game in Dec 05.

•

u/TWFH 3h ago

Sounds like they should have just stuck to the SD stuff and not added the HD ones

•

u/SorrenXiri 1h ago

Stuck with the SD stuff? They weren’t even going to put the SD stuff in till the idiotic streamers told them they had too

•

u/Medryn1986 2h ago

And while they are at it. Take out that lighting engine. It looks too good!

1

u/Rascal_Dubois 6h ago

Yeah ur right its totally impossible my bad

-1

u/bjlight1988 6h ago

This kind of hysterical baby behavior is why nobody in charge really gives much of a shit what andies whine about btw

2

u/Rascal_Dubois 6h ago

I'm equally defending your right to HD models. The framing of this as something super difficult is asinine and produces conflict for no reason

0

u/makjac 5h ago

Just because it’s not “difficult” doesn’t mean it doesn’t drastically increase the art development workload. The SD models aren’t just a “turn down the polygons” nob, it’s an entirely separate texture. And if not applied perfectly this sub would have its third aneurism of whatever day someone pointed it out.

Framing is as “super easy” and not resource consuming (taking away from other dev tasks) is asinine and produces conflict and unrealistic expectations.

1

u/Rascal_Dubois 5h ago

Nah yeah ur right, no idea how they'll manage honestly

1

u/Taintlord77 6h ago

WAAAAHHHHHH WAAAAHHHHHHH WAAAHHHHHHHHHH.

•

u/SorrenXiri 1h ago

The SD models didn’t even look good when the game came out, they were by far the worst part of WoW

-3

u/flyingfox227 8h ago

Decades of WoW and never heard anyone complain much about the HD models until Forever came out and now suddenly they're literally the worst thing ever apparently.

7

u/PrinceVorrel 8h ago

Have you been living under a rock or something? I fairly regularly saw posts about people hating on retail's art style on here...

10

u/mcdandynuggetz 8h ago

You clearly never played during WoD then.

5

u/whats_up_doc71 8h ago

There was definitely a VERY mixed reaction to the WoD models. Plus many classic players noped out before that anyway

6

u/SugarCrisp7 8h ago

We complained about them when they were announced as well. Blizzard went "lol too bad" and forced them down our throats anyways.

5

u/Snoo56153 8h ago

Im so glad we have a choice now

4

u/VlaamseGaap 8h ago

Lol yeah I remember in WoD we could toggle them off and Legion just made that button disappear

2

There were complaints back when they were originally introduced but it was more feedback on nuanced stuff like how animations felt very different because they were actually changed in some ways or how specific things looked compared to their actual 1:1 old counterpart.

Nothing like what you see on this sub where people pretend like the sd models are just outright better and the hd models look irredeemably awful even though the hd model is clearly an upgrade.

You’re trying to say that two completely different situations should’ve produced the same result.

If you love the HD models so much then idk why you’re so upset. You got what you wanted. The problem is that your hideous HD models are bleeding into the SD option, not the other way around.

u/rhaesdaenys 6h ago

We didn't get what we wanted. The HD models are missing over half of their customization options because we are being held back by the SD toggle with no equivalents.

Google wod model release and also those who don’t like the new models quit retail and stuck with era or anniversary or classic

2

u/MwHighlander 6h ago

Yeah? That is just factually correct.

No lies detected.

I just hope that HD models will be optional. Over 60 GB for a game that originally weight around 3-4GB is crazy.

I just want my toon to look how I want. If I choose SD, it should be SD for me and everybody else.

99% of people aren't gonna look at your characters face, if it's nice for you that's what matters the most. If it's important then you should also make HD cosmetics you're happy with, I'm betting a lot of people will be on HD

-1

u/nano_peen 6h ago

This is my issue. My human male will look good in SD but look like a monster in HD. Guess I’ll wear a helmet haha

Correct

u/Capnbaddazz 8h ago

Just don't use em I won't

A lot of people are talking about a poll and the mythical average player. But don't we have a lot of new and retail players? Won't they choose HD by default? I think that if many of them were properly re-educated they would realise that the SD models are cooler. Furthermore, I don't care what the average player thinks. I am not the average player.

It's the eyes man, the eyes just ruin the HD Models and make em look like trash

u/BottleEquivalent4581 8h ago

2

u/Radomuser12 8h ago

Have you seen the HD ones?

4

u/BottleEquivalent4581 8h ago

I understand many people prefer the old ones, but I like the hd ones better, please don't hate me

5

u/Radomuser12 8h ago

Not hate here, I wish blizzard did a better job at combining both.

2

u/BottleEquivalent4581 8h ago

The funny thing is, they used to, when the hd models came out, you could swap very easily.

It's when they changed the animations in legions that things got weird

1

u/Raptor_Jetpack 7h ago

The HD ones look like dolls eyes, just uncanny

1

u/Rolniacznik 5h ago

Because they broke the eye models on all races many years ago and they still haven't fixed it

-1

u/GraennTV 8h ago

Good to see a funny meme from time to time. Started losing hope. Thanks OP

1

u/Due_Pace_7979 8h ago

HD models are only bad because the SD models use them as a skeleton with textures applied to them.

1

u/Ymmera 7h ago

I mean there was a polling thread a couple weeks ago, within this sub, about HD vs SD, and HD won lmao

Never listen to reddit about anything. There are people that unironically argue that classic tier sets , like T2, are better looking that their retail version.

Some people are just beyond any form of redemption or reasoning

2

u/Roflitos 7h ago

I haven't seen many of the new retail sets, but i remember the castle of narnia expansion had a great plate set.

TBC imo had some of the next looking sets overall.. but t2 pally, rogue, and warlock are phenomenal lol, t3 paladin shaman and warrior too. T1 sets were ugly af.. although my favorite gear is the R13 ally set, what a beauty.

Never listen to reddit about anything

That would include the polling result you mentioned, just to be clear.

There are people that unironically argue that classic tier sets , like T2, are better looking that their retail version.

they literally are though, just better colors and a more readable design

u/Rolniacznik 5h ago

Incorrect

•

u/Advancement_Habits 4h ago

The WoD models are completely hideous for many races. Weird shit to stan.

u/frontovika 1h ago

HD models are hideous

Do you play with a CRT Monitor, and a Ball Mouse?

or do you have a 2k/4k monitor and like, a 30,000DPI mouse, too?

just curious. 😂

1

u/nano_peen 6h ago

An honest question, does a video game having better graphics make it a better video game?

1

u/Pencildragon 7h ago

Have you never heard of art? Just curious.

-7

u/dyslexican32 8h ago

Delusion.

-2

u/Borly 6h ago

They are bad.
