He could've had any woman. And he literally chose the only one that doesn't appreciate him.

619

u/DL_Omega 7h ago

think the saddest video ive seen a glimpse of their relationship is the one where she starts recording him and he just starts talking about boundaries and how he doesn't appreciate being on camera. he just seemed so defeated.

252

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 6h ago

In the car. Yeah. She wants clout more than a loving relationship. And she still has supporters. Crazy.

86

u/tanstaafl90 5h ago

Unfortunately for him, she's also signed a bunch of the paperwork for his various businesses. He stands to lose much more than just his reputation.

82

u/Level1Roshan 5h ago

He could lose 90% of what he has and still be fine. This shouldn't be a concern. Oh no I lost 450m and now only have 50m, how will I live?!

33

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 5h ago

Compounding and royalties.

Plus it’s not like he can live in west Philadelphia anymore. Hes to famous.

25

u/sebrebc 2h ago

He's still Will Smith, he still has many years ahead of him. He could ditch her, lose 90% of his fortune, go on an "apology tour", and be back in big movies the next day to rebuild his empire. He's not an over the hill banker, he was one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood and many actors have come back from much worse.

7

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 2h ago edited 2h ago

Yeah I love a good come back sorry as much as the next guy.

But I mean. I haven’t seen him in anything that good post Chris rock. He has definitely lost his A list status, like a lot of people do after a controversy.

I hope he lands on his feet but with hollyweird doing weird shit he may just stick to smaller independent projects for now. Directing/producing and not in front of the camera.

2

u/sebrebc 2h ago

While it's obviously because of the Chris Rock slap, I genuinely think that would all go away if he ditched Jada. I think his post and the replies show that. People were clowning on him for "the interview" but he was still Will Smith, like it wasn't nearly as big of a deal as it is now. I think the way Jada treats Will became a much bigger issue after the slap because it really showed the world how much of a bitch he is.

If he tossed her and started working on his reputation, I think people would see him as a much "stronger" dude again. Now he just looks like a pussy and that's what's holding him back from becoming a big star again.

All just my opinion of course.

1

u/Embarrassed_Mix_6619 2h ago

he just needs to get back to the days of iRonot. i think that was a peak role for him

6

u/invaderjif 2h ago

I would totally watch a bright sequel.

5

u/sebrebc 2h ago

I mean the dude was one of the most entertaining actors on the planet. I feel he pretty much played himself, a charismatic "winner" in most of his movies and all of his "block busters". But he was great at playing that role.

I think he could easily take back that crown, but he'd need to dump Jada, and go on the interview circuit. Apologizing for his behavior, specifically regarding the slap. Even go as far as playing the "being in love will blind you" angle. Imagine a sit down interview with him and Chris Rock? It would break records, everybody would watch that. Watching him own his actions, shit all he'd have to do is apologize, get a hug with Rock and flash that smile and Handcock 2, I am Legend 2, and Men in Black 4 would all be hits.

2

u/terminalzero 2h ago

there are dozens of us!

1

u/Morgus_TM 1h ago

He needs to dump the stupid a** kids from
being in his movies too

2

u/MistSecurity 4h ago

Unless he becomes destitute, and she somehow owns the rights to his likeness, he'd be fine.

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 4h ago

I mean. Everyone can tighten their belt a bit. Including you.
But why be punished for something you didn’t do?

3

u/MistSecurity 4h ago

Who said anything about punishment?

It's more consequences of his own actions than anything else. If he (or you) interpret that as a punishment, then it's a punishment solely based on his own actions, inflicted to himself by himself.

What did he not do? In this hypothetical he handed most of the power in his life to his wife. It's not like he can't afford the worlds best lawyers to help him draft shit up and tell him the consequences of these things, I guess. Oh wait, he's rich. He can.

5

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 4h ago

>trusts wife

>gets cheated on

>defends wife in public.

>publicly mocked by wife.

>(eventually) gets divorced in California a 50/50 state

> lose 50% of everything in a household he contributing to 90+% of.

>children hate him

>becomes punch line for comedians

>bad press.

>lose future opportunities.

I mean. What did you do to deserve that punishment. Love his wife unconditionally?

u/kodman7 3h ago

In this case he did choose to be with and stay with her over and over as well as fold her into the business end of things. So all of this he did do

1

u/DoubleUnplusGood 1h ago

He's not exactly being punished, but he did get fucked.

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 1h ago

Publicly he is. Like the meme we are now. Public humiliation is a punishment.

1

u/Vimes-NW 4h ago

Idk.. he may not be able to afford West Philadelphia these days. Upenn been shoppin' and Drexel (not the drug dealer) also

1

u/AmericanScream 4h ago

He lost 90% of what he had the moment he slapped Chris Rock.

1

u/The_captin 3h ago

The life style is different

1

u/kidney-displacer 1h ago

He has deep emotional wounds

1

u/Wonderful-Self-541 5h ago

Why would anyone want to lose money for any reason.

0

u/tanstaafl90 5h ago

It's not your money, so it's much easier to give away.

6

u/Caleth 5h ago

It's been my money and let me tell you there's a reason the joke goes:

"Why is divorce so fucking expensive?"

"Because it's worth every cent."

Best money I ever paid to get that toxic misery out of my life. Left me with not all that much, but I rebuilt and have a life that 15 years ago me would have thought impossible.

Even if I hadn't just to not wake up a miserable mess walking on eggshells every day of the last 11 years would have made it still all worth it.

It's so hard to explain just how miserable she was making me. I've seen the reverse with some friends and friends of my now wife. They'd been 200% better off without their lay about spouses, but instead they limp along seething and upset because the fear of the unknown currently seems greater than the misery of the present.

1

u/tanstaafl90 4h ago

They have been separated since 2016, but said they have no intention to divorce. We don't know why, but my guess is money.

2

u/Caleth 4h ago

They separated in 16 but were still attending the Oscars together with her as his date in 22 when he hit Chris rock?

Nah there's some fuckery going on here. You don't take your separated spouse to a prestige event like that if you're actively trying to build a life outside of them.

Ultimately I've spent more time today talking about this than it's worth, but I don't buy that presented story for a second. How they act doesn't imply separation like a non divorce divorce it's something else. Power plays, mind games, etc. But it's not a dead or purely financial relationship.

1

u/tanstaafl90 4h ago

They run production companies together. Westbrook and Overbrook Entertainment. It's an industry event where Westbrook had 6 people nominated for Oscars, including Smith.

The real issue is we don't know their fiances and what part these companies play in holding and distributing their wealth.

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 5h ago

And yet. He defends her when Chris Rock makes a joke about sleeping with her and he gets in trouble.

Honestly. I still like him. I don’t care what anyone says.

5

u/Noto987 5h ago

I thought the joke was that she was going bald

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 5h ago

Going bald but still smash or something like that.

2

u/tanstaafl90 5h ago

The threat of taking at least half their fortune will make people act rather illogically. We don't know how much his personal fiances are tied up with the production company, what the contracts look like, etc. The royalties may be going to the company, which in turn pays him. She's part owner, last I looked.

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 5h ago

Makes sense. And I doubt he has a prenup.

1

u/tanstaafl90 5h ago

I feel for the guy, rough place to be in.

7

u/Qweerz 5h ago

The video the person is talking about isn’t in a car, I think they’re standing in a hallway in their house.

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 5h ago

I thought he was driving and she was in the passenger seat? Am I remembering wrong it’s been like 7 years

-1

u/ZDTreefur 4h ago

Omg you have the mentia

1

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 4h ago

Meh. Idc what you say.

1

u/zurdopilot 2h ago

Is that new stuff? The last i remember from him he was trying to stream a dj set and i was funny i dont remember why

2

u/hotbox4u 13m ago

Chris Brown still plays sold out concerts and is a known abuser, most likely still beats up women like it's a hobby.

Kayne West is literally insane and doing things other people would have been canceled over multiple times and his fanbase is unshaken.

Anthony Kiedis raped a 14 year old and RHCP are still selling out concerts.

Cristiano Ronaldo raped a woman, admitted to it and the world move on for him like nothing happened.

Mark Wahlberg blinded a man during a racially motivated attack early in his career and his still a big star in Hollywood.

Tom Cruise did terrible things to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes and he's still a major advocate for Scientology. When he has short videos of him being nice pop up on socials, he still gets showered with love and admiration by fans and collegues alike.

Ellen DeGeneres still rakes in millions of views on her socials despite everyone knows that she is a horrible narcissist who created a toxic and hostile work environment and had to withdraw from the industry because of it.

Elon Musk. The list is too long but he still has millions of people admiring him.

The president of the United States. Know for his horrible character since the 80s and a convicticed criminal including rape. Millions of americans vote for him not once, but three times. He won 2 out 3 and with every election he got worse. And to this day, millions still do not care.

So, her having still fans despite being a clout chaser and disloyal companion to Willis, really isn't crazy to me. In fact, she wouldn't even make the list.

1

u/Shipbreaker_Kurpo 3h ago

Last decade has shown me that no matter what crazy someone does or says, there will be some type of people to support them and they have an easy time connecting and having a voice now

91

u/PantherThing 6h ago

And then is gaslit that he's the one making outrageous demands, and 'doesnt want to work on the relationship'

28

u/jjcrayfish 4h ago

Then ruined his reputation on the biggest night of his career by slapping a fellow actor in the face on a public stage for the world to see all for a harmless joke toward his wife who was embarrassed by his dumb action.

11

u/Numeno230n 5h ago

He says in that video that he keeps his personal life and social media presence completely separate, which is 100% fair. Honestly most people burn out and fail in the entertainment business because they can't keep up barriers.

1

u/OldClothes9618 1h ago

He needs to talk to Brendan Fraser about how to come back from rock bottom

I'm convinced we're all being subjected to a public humiliation kink. But without our consent.

2

u/Jisan_Inc 1h ago

I dont think will knew either.

1

u/KorgothOfBarbaria 3h ago

I consent 😏

29

u/Neatojuancheeto 1h ago

Its kinda fucked up we clown him instead of saying hes in a horribly abusive relationship.

Its some men can't be abused shit.

14

u/Skwiggelf54 53m ago

Dude, its like when a women gets help to escape an abusive relationship, but then throws it all away just to go back to the same guy again. At that point, fuck em. They made their bed, let them sleep in it. Yeah, the relationship may be abusive, but hes choosing to stay and thus im going to call him a pussy little cuck boy.

1

u/erogenouszones 3m ago

I don’t think you understand the emotion manipulation the goes on before the hitting starts.

1

u/Skwiggelf54 2m ago

I do. Its just that you can only try to help someone so much before you just have to say fuck it and leave them to it.

1

u/BobbyRayBands 21m ago

Because he actively chooses it for himself? Hes rich, famous, objectively attractive and still chooses her when he doesn’t have to at all.

190

u/NinetooNine 7h ago

I know it's sad. It's like life is just slapping him in the face.

38

u/BicycleNo1169 4h ago

I mean, in that context isn’t it kinda sad everyone clowns him instead of having some compassion for a dude that’s clearly in an abusive relationship?

If it were a woman being manipulated in a relationship and we could all see it, I feel like we’d be saying “Girl, nooo!” But the response to Will Smith is literally “you’re weak” “you’re pathetic” “you’re a cuck”.

I mean, in the name of equality, shouldn’t we give him the same grace that he’s mentally manipulated into a situation where he doesn’t perhaps comprehend he’s in an abusive relationship? If it were a woman, we would want to offer a ripcord and a way out. But it seems if it’s a man “good, fuck you. You are not a ‘self-respecting’ man.”

8

u/NinetooNine 4h ago

Pretty sure it has been pointed out to him many times. But he's not willing to let it go, so what are you going to do? They literally made a internet show about it. I would say he's pretty fucking aware of what his situation is. And he has the means to leave it if he wants to.

9

u/BicycleNo1169 3h ago

I mean…that’s what it means to be in an abusive relationship. You even may know that it’s fucked, but you’re stuck or you feel stuck.

Again, if this were a woman going back to a man that she knows is bad for her and is abusive to her, we wouldn’t victim blame and tell her she’s weak and she deserves it. It’s not like it’s an uncommon scenario. Quite usually it’s just sad and you hope the person makes the right choice but they usually don’t, so I think the reaction to clowning on him, ain’t the greatest.

4

u/NinetooNine 3h ago

Pretty sure the first thing I said was that it was sad. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't point out his own shitty behavior. You don't get a free pass just because your life is hard.

1

u/BicycleNo1169 2h ago

Yeah fair.

I think I’m just shocked by the general reaction in this thread, outside of your post. Like damn, I just can’t imagine the viciousness of what people are saying in this thread for a woman in the same scenario . I imagine they wouldn’t have these knives out if it were a woman that felt perpetually stuck and co-dependent to an abuser.

0

u/KindledWanderer 2h ago

Again, if this were a woman going back to a man that she knows is bad for her and is abusive to her, we wouldn’t victim blame and tell her she’s weak and she deserves it.

Maybe you should? Judging people for making bad decisions is fair game, unless they're legally incompetent.

2

u/BicycleNo1169 2h ago

Bro, if you’re in a situation like this and your mental isn’t right, that’s what happens.

You can’t look at the innumerable amount of people throughout history that have been in abusive relationships and just be like lol u made bad choices.

Im not saying it’s your responsibility or my responsibility to fix the issue for said man or woman. Just that more compassion than “lol cuck” may be warranted. People in abusive relationships aren’t making logical decisions. That’s precisely how these abusive relationships carry on.

It just seems to me, that people are far more compassionate to a woman in an abusive relationship than a man, whether you chose to recognize it. But I think this thread looks very different - purely in terms of compassion for the so-called ‘victim’. And I hesitate to use the word victim because clearly, the majority of this thread doesn’t seem to think Will is a victim, even though they lead with the notion that he is in an abusive relationship. That cognitive dissonance is just bizarre, that’s all.

1

u/KindledWanderer 2h ago

Just that more compassion than “lol cuck” may be warranted.

Why? What other behavior would you excuse?
Drinking? That at least deserves some pity since it's chemically addictive and can kill you.
Or street racing because you need the adrenaline?

"Lol cuck" or "lol stupid woman going back" is much more deserved than "drunk bastard".

People in abusive relationships aren’t making logical decisions.

Ridiculing people who can make logical decisions but don't is completely fair.
Otherwise this could be used as a blanket statement to excuse any behavior.

It just seems to me, that people are far more compassionate to a woman in an abusive relationship than a man

They are. That applies in general to all other situations as well (schools, criminal courts, other day-to-day interactions...). That's just how the society is currently set up and everyone knows it.

1

u/NinetooNine 1h ago

I agree with you about people here being vicious. But keep in mind where you are. Reddit isn't exactly a well of compassion. That's like going into a prison and complaining that people aren't being nice to each other.

While I agree to a point that we as a society shouldn't victim blame. We as a society take that idea to a ridiculous extreme. Unless we are talking about a minor, threat of violence, or someone who has direct authority over you in some way. People are responsible for there actions. I do not believe it's a good idea to shift blame 100% away from someone who's bad choices directly led to their situation. That shouldn't be swept under the rug. Otherwise the person won't learn.

What is it about this gif that’s so funny and can be applied to anything? I don’t even like speed, well tbf I’ve never seen his content I guess, but everytime I see this gif I still laugh anyway

59

u/JackAsofAllTrades 6h ago

There is a type of personality that seeks out this kind of abuse.

Will Smith has been through some shit. Probably spent a good amount of his childhood under the care of someone who made him feel like nothing.

Without a strong will and deep introspection, this type of person will inevitably be attracted to abuse.

19

u/molrobocop 4h ago

How come he don't want me, man?

36

u/SteveClimbFish3rd 7h ago

Probably for a reason

35

u/hallucinationthought 7h ago

Because he was a millionaire before turning 21 maybe

3

u/Caleth 5h ago

He was scoring adulation from everyone around him as more or less a child, and she was the one person who wouldn't give it to him.

So he craved her. Well turns out chasing people that aren't interested or are keeping you on a string has consequences. He's now stuck into a relationship that from the outside seems to be eating him alive.

Not my life, but I've been in a similar spot. Far better he cuts and runs even if he has to give up nearly all his cash.

62

u/Swimming_in_money 7h ago

i mean, i have a friend irl who is a little bit like him - he had many stories with different girls before his current girlfriend, but they pretty much all finished with him betraying or leaving the girl. Until his current girlfriend, who is kinda possessive and jealous: they have been together for years now

12

u/tahtahme 6h ago

Was uour friend an overly cocky temperamental cheater? If not, your friend is nothing like him. According to Wills own rendition of how his early relationships went.

17

u/plaxitone 5h ago

Yes?

he had many stories with different girls before his current girlfriend, but they pretty much all finished with him betraying or leaving the girl.

12

u/Swimming_in_money 6h ago

Yes, a bit yes, he betrayed multiple of his ex-girlfriends.

2

u/tahtahme 5h ago

Yeah, it seems you reap what you sow. So its odd people are saying Jada just doesnt appreciate him. She stuck through a lot for many decades.

21

u/PantherThing 6h ago

I think in the back of his mind he's like "Everyone else caters to my every whim. But she wont. She's the only one who knows I'm an imposter, so she's the only one who really gets me"

14

u/tahtahme 6h ago

He admitted in his memoir to being a cheating nightmare and driving his kids away. Idk why yall infantile Will. He dug this grave yall act like Jada put him in...

2

u/SiempreRegreso 6h ago

Raises the question of whether he actually wanted one.

2

u/PussyIchiban 6h ago

It's the one that didn't want him that he wanted the most

1

u/StrangelySerious- 6h ago

But..But... She was in love with Tupac and they were totally going to get married and he was totally into her like... No no really he knew she existed I swear!

1

u/Istar10n 5h ago

Not ANY woman, but he would definitely have his pick. I think SOME people become fixated on one particular person, despite all their red flags.

I don't know if Will is like this, but the way I feel love would be described by others as limerence/obsession. And I only want a relationship if I feel that (yes, I know it's a huge red flag on my part).

1

u/Jiste 5h ago

He wanted her because she loved pac

1

u/Tigger_Tinkerbell 5h ago

Ive always wondered what makes her so special because as you have said. Back in the day, he could of had anyone!

1

u/taco_blasted_ 5h ago

You dont get it.

Will prefers men, and he sadly does not want to come out.

1

u/psychictype14 4h ago

You accept the love you think you deserve

1

u/VictoryVee 3h ago

Some people are into that. He seems very okay with being cucked in front of the whole world, so maybe that's his thing.

1

u/PilotKnob 3h ago

Yep, that poor bastard is being held hostage by a witch.

1

u/Bedfordmk2 3h ago

His first wife was gorgeous. He was a fool for leaving her for a woman who clearly hates him

1

u/Outside_Natural5914 3h ago

Margot Robbie was right there, man

1

u/ziggy_smalls_ 3h ago

Sounds like a...kink.

1

u/ConferenceThink4801 2h ago

Because his mother &/or father didn't appreciate him, which is also the entire reason why he's an entertainer too

Humans always seek level - we want to repeat what we know from childhood, good or bad. If you pay attention at all as you go through life, this becomes a crystal clear pattern at some point. Any decision anyone makes that you cannot understand, the answer is found in their childhood experiences.

1

u/Nemirel_the_Gemini 2h ago

I know quite a few good guys in the same situation.

1

u/FelaFrank 54m ago

He's most likely a sadomasochist as a result of having been raised by an abusive mother. When abuse enters a sexual dimension and the abused person doesn't break away it is almost always a sign of sadomasochism and sadomasochism is developed through an abusive relationship with a parent of the relevant sex.

He married a woman who fits his trauma profile and now it's a type of codependency that she, being likely even more narcissistic than he is, exploits without any remorse.

-3

u/NSFWdontview 7h ago

He can’t have any woman, he’s a good actor but isn’t known as a sex symbol

17

u/Valiant_Snow 6h ago

His level of success is enough to get whoever he wants. In general, obviously people could turn him down, but he'd absolutely find someone else sooner rather then later.

However, he's clearly in love with this woman and that's why he's with her.

-6

u/eightfivethreezerofi 6h ago

Your first two sentences directly contradict each other.

3

u/Valiant_Snow 6h ago

That's not true. I said in general.

0

u/eightfivethreezerofi 6h ago

Your first sentence implies that he can get anyone. Your second sentence allows for a possibility for someone to reject him. These both cannot be true at the same time. I don't know why you think adding 'in general', which is in the second sentence, would resolve the contradiction.

1

u/Valiant_Snow 4h ago

I made a statement and followed it up with in general. In general means usually or broadly. Will Smith can usually get with whoever he wants. It might be confusing grammatically, but I type like I'm speaking and don't plan out everything. If we were irl I'd have said "Will can get with whoever he wants" there'd be a pause and then I'd say "In general..." I know he can't get with anyone, my mother certainly wouldn't leave my father for Will, but a single lady looking to date ain't gonna say no to a date with Will.

1

u/VictoryVee 3h ago

You think when people say "shes so pretty she could have any man she wants!" they're being literal? Cmon man go read a book or something, its a figure of speech. Literacy is dying

5

u/Far_Silver 6h ago

Not any woman, but a lot of them. He's successful enough that there are plenty of women who would jump into his pants. Or if you believe the people in this thread calling him gay (I don't), plenty of men would jump into his pants too.
