I mean, in that context isnât it kinda sad everyone clowns him instead of having some compassion for a dude thatâs clearly in an abusive relationship?
If it were a woman being manipulated in a relationship and we could all see it, I feel like weâd be saying âGirl, nooo!â But the response to Will Smith is literally âyouâre weakâ âyouâre patheticâ âyouâre a cuckâ.
I mean, in the name of equality, shouldnât we give him the same grace that heâs mentally manipulated into a situation where he doesnât perhaps comprehend heâs in an abusive relationship? If it were a woman, we would want to offer a ripcord and a way out. But it seems if itâs a man âgood, fuck you. You are not a âself-respectingâ man.â
Pretty sure it has been pointed out to him many times. But he's not willing to let it go, so what are you going to do? They literally made a internet show about it. I would say he's pretty fucking aware of what his situation is. And he has the means to leave it if he wants to.
I meanâŚthatâs what it means to be in an abusive relationship. You even may know that itâs fucked, but youâre stuck or you feel stuck.
Again, if this were a woman going back to a man that she knows is bad for her and is abusive to her, we wouldnât victim blame and tell her sheâs weak and she deserves it. Itâs not like itâs an uncommon scenario. Quite usually itâs just sad and you hope the person makes the right choice but they usually donât, so I think the reaction to clowning on him, ainât the greatest.
Pretty sure the first thing I said was that it was sad. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't point out his own shitty behavior. You don't get a free pass just because your life is hard.
I think Iâm just shocked by the general reaction in this thread, outside of your post. Like damn, I just canât imagine the viciousness of what people are saying in this thread for a woman in the same scenario . I imagine they wouldnât have these knives out if it were a woman that felt perpetually stuck and co-dependent to an abuser.
Again, if this were a woman going back to a man that she knows is bad for her and is abusive to her, we wouldnât victim blame and tell her sheâs weak and she deserves it.
Maybe you should? Judging people for making bad decisions is fair game, unless they're legally incompetent.
Bro, if youâre in a situation like this and your mental isnât right, thatâs what happens.
You canât look at the innumerable amount of people throughout history that have been in abusive relationships and just be like lol u made bad choices.
Im not saying itâs your responsibility or my responsibility to fix the issue for said man or woman. Just that more compassion than âlol cuckâ may be warranted. People in abusive relationships arenât making logical decisions. Thatâs precisely how these abusive relationships carry on.
It just seems to me, that people are far more compassionate to a woman in an abusive relationship than a man, whether you chose to recognize it. But I think this thread looks very different - purely in terms of compassion for the so-called âvictimâ. And I hesitate to use the word victim because clearly, the majority of this thread doesnât seem to think Will is a victim, even though they lead with the notion that he is in an abusive relationship. That cognitive dissonance is just bizarre, thatâs all.
Just that more compassion than âlol cuckâ may be warranted.
Why? What other behavior would you excuse?
Drinking? That at least deserves some pity since it's chemically addictive and can kill you.
Or street racing because you need the adrenaline?
"Lol cuck" or "lol stupid woman going back" is much more deserved than "drunk bastard".
People in abusive relationships arenât making logical decisions.
Ridiculing people who can make logical decisions but don't is completely fair.
Otherwise this could be used as a blanket statement to excuse any behavior.
It just seems to me, that people are far more compassionate to a woman in an abusive relationship than a man
They are. That applies in general to all other situations as well (schools, criminal courts, other day-to-day interactions...). That's just how the society is currently set up and everyone knows it.
I agree with you about people here being vicious. But keep in mind where you are. Reddit isn't exactly a well of compassion. That's like going into a prison and complaining that people aren't being nice to each other.
While I agree to a point that we as a society shouldn't victim blame. We as a society take that idea to a ridiculous extreme. Unless we are talking about a minor, threat of violence, or someone who has direct authority over you in some way. People are responsible for there actions. I do not believe it's a good idea to shift blame 100% away from someone who's bad choices directly led to their situation. That shouldn't be swept under the rug. Otherwise the person won't learn.

He could've had any woman. And he literally chose the only one that doesn't appreciate him.
