Pretty sure it has been pointed out to him many times. But he's not willing to let it go, so what are you going to do? They literally made a internet show about it. I would say he's pretty fucking aware of what his situation is. And he has the means to leave it if he wants to.

I mean…that’s what it means to be in an abusive relationship. You even may know that it’s fucked, but you’re stuck or you feel stuck.

Again, if this were a woman going back to a man that she knows is bad for her and is abusive to her, we wouldn’t victim blame and tell her she’s weak and she deserves it. It’s not like it’s an uncommon scenario. Quite usually it’s just sad and you hope the person makes the right choice but they usually don’t, so I think the reaction to clowning on him, ain’t the greatest.

Maybe you should? Judging people for making bad decisions is fair game, unless they're legally incompetent.

Bro, if you’re in a situation like this and your mental isn’t right, that’s what happens.

You can’t look at the innumerable amount of people throughout history that have been in abusive relationships and just be like lol u made bad choices.

Im not saying it’s your responsibility or my responsibility to fix the issue for said man or woman. Just that more compassion than ā€œlol cuckā€ may be warranted. People in abusive relationships aren’t making logical decisions. That’s precisely how these abusive relationships carry on.

It just seems to me, that people are far more compassionate to a woman in an abusive relationship than a man, whether you chose to recognize it. But I think this thread looks very different - purely in terms of compassion for the so-called ā€˜victim’. And I hesitate to use the word victim because clearly, the majority of this thread doesn’t seem to think Will is a victim, even though they lead with the notion that he is in an abusive relationship. That cognitive dissonance is just bizarre, that’s all.

Just that more compassion than ā€œlol cuckā€ may be warranted.

Why? What other behavior would you excuse?
Drinking? That at least deserves some pity since it's chemically addictive and can kill you.
Or street racing because you need the adrenaline?

"Lol cuck" or "lol stupid woman going back" is much more deserved than "drunk bastard".

People in abusive relationships aren’t making logical decisions.

Ridiculing people who can make logical decisions but don't is completely fair.
Otherwise this could be used as a blanket statement to excuse any behavior.

It just seems to me, that people are far more compassionate to a woman in an abusive relationship than a man

They are. That applies in general to all other situations as well (schools, criminal courts, other day-to-day interactions...). That's just how the society is currently set up and everyone knows it.

I agree with you about people here being vicious. But keep in mind where you are. Reddit isn't exactly a well of compassion. That's like going into a prison and complaining that people aren't being nice to each other.

While I agree to a point that we as a society shouldn't victim blame. We as a society take that idea to a ridiculous extreme. Unless we are talking about a minor, threat of violence, or someone who has direct authority over you in some way. People are responsible for there actions. I do not believe it's a good idea to shift blame 100% away from someone who's bad choices directly led to their situation. That shouldn't be swept under the rug. Otherwise the person won't learn.
