Hi r/macapps, I'm the developer. DockNest is a small menu-bar app that lets you group apps into folders and open them straight from the Dock, like on iPhone and iPad. It needs macOS Sonoma or later.
It's a one-time purchase of €14.99 (no subscription), the license works on 2 Macs, and it's notarized by Apple. There's no free trial yet, so if it doesn't work for you, you can get a refund within 14 days.
Site and details: https://docknest.store
Happy to answer questions and take feature requests here.

I'm the developer of Gablet, a menu bar window manager for Mac.
Problem
I wanted snap layouts plus a few things I kept missing: hide a window on a screen edge and peek it with the cursor, pin one app to the side, save a whole arrangement, and flick a window into a tile with modifiers held.
Comparison
Rectangle covers the basics well and is free. Magnet is simpler if you only want snap. Gablet is closer to Rectangle in keyboard-first tiling, then adds Stash (edge hide/reveal), Pin Mode, Quick Throw, and named layouts you can recall. It is not a tiling WM like yabai. It needs Accessibility permission to move windows.
Pricing
One-time license via FastSpring. 7-day trial on your Mac, then $10. No subscription.

Spotify is too loud, the call is too quiet, and macOS still doesn't have a per-app mixer. I wanted one that didn't install a virtual audio driver or ask for admin rights, so I built MixBar. I'm the developer.
It's a menu bar app. Open the panel and every app that's currently playing gets its own slider and mute button. At 100% MixBar removes its tap entirely, so the app goes back to its normal bit-perfect output with zero overhead.
**Install:** https://github.com/hikara192/MixBar/releases/latest — DMG, drag to Applications, no terminal.

Hi everyone, this is my first open source project, so I'm looking for honest feedback.
Lucid puts live 4K video wallpapers on your Mac desktop. It's a native SwiftUI app, MIT licensed, with no account and no telemetry. Built it as a free alternative to paid live wallpaper apps like Wallpaper engine, Backdrop, etc. - The app is a ~2 MB download. Clips are 4K, so they take disk space (a few MB to 100+ MB each, depending on the clip). Only the ones you pick get stored.
**What it does**- A different wallpaper per display, playlists, auto-change timer, open at login- Default comes with About 590 curated 4K loops (ESA/Webb, Hubble, ESO, NASA, Wikimedia), all checked at 3840x2160 or larger and looped seamlessly- Apple's own Aerials work too- Pauses on battery, in Low Power Mode, when the screen locks, or when a window covers the desktop- Drag in your own videos or photos (MP4/MOV as-is, WebM/MKV converted automatically)
**Honest caveats**
- Apple Silicon only for now, macOS 14+- Not notarized yet, so first launch needs System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway (steps are in the README)- It's young and has very few users
**What I'd love**
Code review, bug reports, and people trying it on different Macs and displays. Tell me what's broken, what's missing, and what I'm doing wrong as a first-time maintainer.

Lumawall Wallpaper Engine
Hey everyone,
I started building LumaWall right after I got my MacBook. I tried a few live wallpaper apps first, and in my experience a lot of them had bugs or weird overlay issues. The best one I tried was Wallper, but I still couldn't get everything I wanted, so I made my own.
It's in beta right now and I'd really like some honest feedback before the full release.
What it does
\- Turns any MP4 or MOV into a live wallpaper. Drag in a video or paste a direct link.
\- Separate desktop and Lock Screen wallpapers. One video on your desktop, a different one on your Lock Screen (animated or static). This was the main thing I couldn't find anywhere else.
\- Every display is independent. Different video on each monitor, and you can pause or mute one without touching the others.
\- Playlists that rotate wallpapers every 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
\- Explore, a community gallery where you can preview wallpapers in motion before downloading, and publish your own. This one is still in testing, so it may change or be removed before release.
How it works
You set things up in the main app and then close it. A small background agent keeps the wallpapers playing, and a Mini Player in the menu bar lets you pause, switch, or change the Lock Screen without opening anything. It can pause automatically on battery, in Low Power Mode, when a display is covered, or under heavy load. If you want out, one button puts back Apple's original desktop and Lock Screen exactly how they were.
What I'd love feedback on
\- Any bugs, glitches or overlay issues (please include your Mac model and macOS version)
\- Multi-monitor setups, especially mixed resolutions
\- Battery life and performance on your machine
\- Anything confusing in the app, or features you'd want before release
\- Whether the Explore gallery is something you'd actually use/might remove it
Requires macOS 13 or later. Separate Lock Screen wallpapers need macOS 26 Tahoe.

Thanks for checking it out. I'll be in the comments replying to everyone.

Ever spotted text on your Mac that you couldn’t copy? A video frame, a slide, an image, a dialog… we made PixelScan for those moments.
Just draw around the text. PixelScan uses Apple Vision OCR to turn it into text you can copy and paste. It runs locally on your Mac, with no server involved.
Skip the retyping. Capture, copy, and get back to what you were doing.
PixelScan is $5.99, paid once: https://saither.com/pixelscan/
What’s the hardest-to-copy text you’ve run into on your Mac?
Offer: 50% off with code : PH50OFF, valid until 23 Oct 26.

If you plug your Mac into a monitor or TV over HDMI or DisplayPort, macOS usually greys out the volume slider and the volume keys show a crossed-out speaker. I got tired of reaching for the monitor's buttons, so I built Melicum with Claude.
What it does
How it works
Core Audio process taps capture system audio, excluding Melicum itself to prevent feedback. A realtime C engine with no allocations processes it, and the display's clock drives playback, so there is no drift. If the app quits unexpectedly, the virtual output disappears and your previous output comes back.
Details
GitHub: https://github.com/debba/melicum Website and download: https://melicum.app
Feedback, bug reports and feature ideas are very welcome, especially if you have an unusual display or audio setup.

Hi everyone, Aqib here, the developer of Notchet, the clipboard manager that lives in your MacBook's notch.
First, thank you. Since my last post you've sent bug reports, comments and DMs, and the top of this list came straight from them. The video above is a new 85 second walkthrough of the whole app, since a few of you asked how it's different from other clipboard managers.
The problem
Your Mac's clipboard holds one thing. Copy something new and the last one is gone. Notchet keeps everything you copy, text, pictures, links, colours and files, as cards that drop out of the notch when you rest the pointer there or press Option Command V. Pick a card and it pastes where you were typing.
What's new since my last post (Notchet is now on 1.0.11)
You asked for these:
And the rest:
brew install --cask aqibjavedzeepalm/tap/notchetIf you already have it, it updates itself.
How it compares
Pricing
Free for 7 days, then one payment, on up to 2 Macs. No subscription, no account.
https://aqibjaved.dev/apps/notchet
Privacy
Your clipboard history stays on your Mac and is never uploaded. Notchet only goes online to check your license and look for updates. Copies that password managers mark as secret are never saved.
About me
AI disclosure
I design, build, test and ship Notchet myself in Swift and SwiftUI, and I use AI coding tools to help write and review code.
Keep the feedback coming, here or in DMs. Bugs, things that annoy you, or what would make you switch from your current clipboard manager. I read all of it.

Hey everyone,
VLC plays literally everything and I'll always love it for that. But on a Mac it draws its own controls, its preferences are a wall of checkboxes, and the current release turns HDR video into SDR.
So I forked VLC 4 and rebuilt everything around the engine, for macOS only. Meet MacLC.

Problem
One free player that opens anything, feels at home on macOS 26 and actually uses your HDR display.
Comparison
What I'm proudest of:
Also: hardware AV1 on M3/M4, no telemetry, no account.

Pricing
Free and open source (GPL). No paid tier, no subscription. Apple Silicon only.
The honest bits
Tip jar
MacLC is free and will stay free. But Apple charges $99 a year to make that "Open Anyway" step go away, so if MacLC ever saves your eyes from a 1,600-nit white subtitle, a coffee goes straight into the notarization fund. A good bug report makes me just as happy.
I'll be in the comments all day. Bugs, "this annoys me" and feature requests are all welcome!

My 512 GB MacBook hit "disk full" in March. macOS Storage said 180 GB was "System Data". The usual cleaner apps found 4 GB of browser caches and called it a day. The actual culprits were a 21 GB folder in ~/Library/Developer, two Docker.raw images, and node_modules in 40 projects I hadn't opened in a year.
I spent some time after my full-time work building Shedi to find exactly that. It's a native macOS app, scans in about 10 seconds, and groups what it finds:
- Xcode: DerivedData, Archives (listed one by one), iOS DeviceSupport, unavailable simulators and old runtimes
- Docker: images, containers, build cache. Volumes are shown separately as your files, never pre-selected
- node_modules in every project, with each project's last-modified date
- Package manager caches: npm, pnpm, Yarn, Homebrew, CocoaPods, SwiftPM, Cargo, Gradle, pip, Go
- App caches, logs, and large old files in Downloads
The part I cared about most is the safety model, because I've been burned by "one-click clean":
- Every item says what it is, whether it's safe to remove (Safe / Check first / Your files), and whether it comes back
- Only items marked Safe are pre-selected
- Files go to the Trash, not deleted. The few commands that can't use the Trash (docker builder prune, xcrun simctl delete unavailable) are named on a confirmation sheet before they run
- Nothing outside your home folder is touched except through Docker's and Xcode's own tools
What it doesn't do: no malware scanning, no "speed up your Mac", no duplicate finder, no account. If you want those, CleanMyMac is the better fit. If you only need the disk space back and want to see what's being removed, that's what this is for.
Pricing is one-time: $19.99 for one Mac, $27.99 for two. 14-day refund, no questions. Launch code EARLY10 takes $10 off for now. macOS 15 or later.
Two things I'd like from this sub: which developer paths am I missing (I know about Android SDK and JetBrains caches, both coming), and does anyone want the free guides on clearing this stuff by hand without the app? Those are at shedi.app/guides and I'll keep writing them regardless.

Made it for myself and my wife. In case anyone likes it here it is:
https://disfiguredfanny.github.io/Echo-a-Modern-Player-for-macOS/
Completely free. Universal binary works on Sequoia and up. I tested Golden Gate most, Sequoia and Tahoe only in VM this time.
Still a work in progress.
P.S. Airplay can be iffy.
Self-signed so you need to run xattr yourself or go through settings.
