Goddamn.. an industry legend in the dirt. Its not like this was a total surprise but I did think EA would give them one last shot.

Andromeda. Anthem. Veilguard.

Their newest project is still in early development after 6 years.

I would say they've had plenty of chances already.

How many more shots do they need? They been flopping for years.

A lot of that was due to poor management with EA. Tons of bugs and issues with Andromeda much of which stem from EA's mandate of using the Frostbite engine for every game. An engine built for battlefield meant to scale for an RPG. EA wanted a live service title fast to jump on the bandwagon and we got Anthem. No, its not great I agree, but they were working on an entry to a beloved franchise that was damn near guaranteed to hit a certain portion of the market even if it wasn't the best.

The new mass effect game was announced 6 years ago and they were still in early development today? Naw that studio deserves to die

No studio deserves to die. That sounds more like shit management and poor decision making over bad development. We've seen this time and time again. Just look at what happened with Halo. Talented team led by the most inept group of people that managed to fail their way to the top.

Veilguard also suffered by the initial push to live service. BioWare had issues before EA, but EA made things worse in every way

Veilguard was also initially built as a live service only to shift late in development. EA has owned Bioware since 2007 so all of this is under their purview.

frostbite was 100 percent a bioware choice and heres the proof from the guy who chose it https://wccftech.com/ex-bioware-boss-ea-creative-freedom/ also you mention anthem but forget to add casey hudson is the one who pitched it being a live service multiplayer and guess who he was bioware again

They would have if not for the Saudis and Jared Kushner.

They were likely gonna be laid off even without the Saudis and Kushner purchasing EA. This is EA we’re talking about.

Maybe so but they probably would have been able to get a last shot with ME5. And I'd always rather blame EA themselves than private equity fuckheads.

They would've just made a woke b.s ME slop. Good thing it never saw the light of day

Braindead response. Go touch some grass, or see a real human being and then come back with a real response.

There was no reason to expect that today's BioWare could produce something within their famous IP worth the budget it would take to make. They've had a decade of catastrophic investment. Contemporary morality and writing have declined drastically, either systematically or by company choice. BioWare's writing team hasn't escaped this curse. When you're known for worldbuilding, having subpar writers is a death sentence.

This is the unpacking of u/West-Tough-4552 statement

That's not unpacking his comment. Poor writing has nothing to do with wokeness. Bioware hasn't been failing for Decades. It started a single decade ago. I'm also not sure what you mean by morality, what does that have anything to do with this conversation and what sort of metric even is there?

I attempted to explain in detail what he meant. That's unpacking the comment. I don't know if there's a simpler way for you to understand that.

Poor writing has nothing to do with wokeness.

lol, ok. It has everything to do with its controversy. It's not like there's ample evidence of public opinion to draw from or anything. Because you locked in a definition doesn't mean that's what everyone else thinks, and what everyone else thinks matters here.

Bioware hasn't been failing for Decades. It started a decade ago

Reddit pedantry that has no point except to call out a discrepancy, which wasn't in my statement: "They've had a decade of catastrophic investment."

I'm also not sure what you mean by morality, what does that have anything to do with this conversation and what sort of metric even is there?

Strong writing has moral messaging. Morality can be debated and ranked, depending on how logical and practical it is.

You're really bad at this. I hope you're pretending to be confused; otherwise good lord, you should not be debating.

  • I understood it loud and clear, you didn't really provide anything of substance in addition.

  • please provide said ample evidence. I never locked in a definition. I don't know anyone that uses the term to know the definition.

  • there is a point, you correct what you wrote. Clarifies a statement. Those weren't all Bioware's decisions. EA made many of them.

  • weak writing has moral messaging. Well crafted story isn't about the morals, it's about how they're expressed and the narrative techniques used to get there. Morality can be whatever the story wants it to be. Whatever the message is. This has no bearing on good or bad... Whatever that even means to you.

  • bad at what? You made baseless and vague statements and are now choosing to hurl insults instead of putting money where your mouth is.

Also, I'm not debating, I made a comment calling out a neck beard and I stand by that. You came in with a nothing burger comment that I asked you to elaborate on. You proceeded to make even more nothing burger vague statements and here we are. Add the insult as the cherry on top because your kind can't think of anything better when they feel boxed in.

Good luck with life, and for goodness sake USE YOUR WORDS. SUBSTANTIATE. That's how you debate, not just make vague claims.

You must’ve hated the ME trilogy because it was just as “woke” as anything else you dumbasses screech about being “woke” now.

5

u/Dimsum852 6h ago

ME has always been "woke". And that what made it great. Braindead people like you just repeat words without meaning.

3

u/Cartman55125 7h ago

You bitches can’t even define “woke.” Just regurgitate whatever ragebait slop your fav content creator wants to whine about this week

The original ME trilogy was "wOkE" as hell.  It's part of what made the games great.
