Troubleshooting Canon MF652CW NSFW

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

I just purchased a new Canon MF652CW laser printer and I start to understand what the MF stands for. I have not been successful to install the printer on my laptop that runs Windows 11 Pro. It keeps telling me that the drivers is unavailable, which I installed several times, and the Master Setup cant find the printer in the network. Printing from my iPhone works fine. Any suggestions?

Troubleshooting What causes an ink cartridge to print like this?

Post image
2 Upvotes

UPDATE: I went for physical print head cleaning dabbing with a warm wet paper towel followed by dabbing a dry one to remove the damp and the errant ink. this is the case for the cartridges as well.

It only happens when I use the black ink to print on my Canon MP240 series printer. this has also happened on the MX922 of the same brand.

So far ive tried:

- deep cleaning processes several times

- the roller cleaning

- the bottom plate cleaning

- the nozzle check.

I've considered:

- Removing the black ink cartridge and setting it on a warm wet paper towel

- deconstructing the printer (safely) to deal directly with the print head

Additional notes:

- the MP240 is very old and makes a whining sound during printing preparation. I do not know which part is making the noise

- the MX922 started having the issue after a paper jam caused by an impatient household member

Discussion How much should I sell these for on FB?

Post image
0 Upvotes

We just got a new printer, and these are the cartridges that we had from a previous printer. I know that the name brand sells for about $50 for just a cyan, yellow, and magenta. These are off name brands that we got from a printer store but we have twice as much. Any ideas on the value?

Troubleshooting Pull out the Drum and reinsert

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Xerox VersaLink C605, and I've replaced the drums a lot. I work at a school, we use a lot of supplies.

Today, I replaced the magenta and cyan drums, only for it error and say "pull out the (cyan) drum and reinsert" and no matter how many times, that's all it says.

I've put the old cyan back in. I've put in a second whole new cyan. I cleaned the connectors, I've cleaned inside to see if it's the internal ones that have gotten dirty.

I've restarted it. Then I shut it off and unplugged it.

It just keeps telling me to pull out and reinsert the cyan drum. What could be the issue if the connectors are cleaned and multiple drums have been used and it says the same error message? We're at a standstill.

Rant Brother printers - if hell was a printer

I’m writing this instead of throwing my daughter’s brother printer off the roof.

So I’m an HP printer guy. Printers are ok but the person who designed the HPconnect application should experience excruciating pain.

Now Brothers printer are where you go when you want to remove all your hair manually.

My daughter has a MFC-J1010DW a printer/scanner/copier/nutrabullet/telescope/shredder.

She moved and I’m the resident network “expert” because I spent 47 years in IT.

Have I digressed enough?

So

WiFi connection FINE
Printing using the brother apps FINE
Print using ANY other app eg AirPrint NOT FINE. The printer command completes without error BUT nothing.

I should have known when the user manual was 534 pages🤬

Well I’m feeling better now. Think I’ll go home, light a few candles, maybe sacrifice a raccoon , join Satan and try again tomorrow.

Thank you for reading🫡

AND

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Discussion Aksing for Canon G1010 user review

I'm planning to buy the Canon G1010 printer. I think having a scanner and Wi-Fi connectivity would be convenient, but considering my budget of under BDT 15k, I've decided to go with this model.

Before making the purchase, I'd love to hear some honest, real-life reviews from people who have used the Canon G1010. How is its print quality, reliability, ink consumption, and overall performance? Are there any common issues I should know about?

Would you recommend buying it?

Troubleshooting Scanner error

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi guys,

I need some help with an issue at our company regarding a black-and-white printer.

Printing works fine, but scanning has suddenly stopped working for specific users. When opening the scanner, it hangs for a while and returns a communication error. Strangely, it works perfectly for some colleagues, but not for others.

What I've already tried:

Checked the network connection on the affected PC.

Completely removed and reinstalled the printer via Control Panel.

The issue persists. How can I resolve this?🙏🏽🙏🏽

Purchasing Epson Ecotanks - which can handle cardstock?

Hi there! I’m really interested in getting an epson ecotank in the near future. But I know a handful of them cannot print on cardstock, and it’s tricky finding concrete answers on the web whether which ones can do what.

I was looking at the 3950 one for a bit, but some answers are mixed saying it only does 64 lbs to 110 lbs (which are pretty far from eachother). Not sure how accurate that is, but I want the option to be able to print out some postcards.

So I’d like to ask from people who have them with experience! I know that the 8500 and 8550 are best suited for it (but quite a bit outside my budget)… which one do you own and what are its limitations in terms of cardstock that you’ve used?

Thank you!

Troubleshooting I need help diagnosing (and ideally fixing) my Epson XP 211 that hasn't been used for years and prints very poorly even after extensive troubleshooting

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi, I'm trying to revive my Epson XP 211 that hasn't been used for more than 2 or 3 years at least. I will attach relevant images for everything listed below.

This is what I've tried so far:

  • Putting in brand new cartridges of two different brands (both off brand) - I always took the little sticker on top off
  • Pushing nozzle cleaning solution through the intakes with a syringe - ink always came out through all of the channels while applying minimal pressure
  • Countless nozzle cleaning through the printer maintenance actions (not more than 3 at a time)
  • Countless purge or test pages, with mixed results
  • Waiting a few hours or overnight in between tests

This is the general behavior of each channel:

  • Black: super streaky, faint, and completely misaligned
  • Yellow: Completely missing
  • Magenta: There was a tiny bit of magenta coming out before doing manual cleaning, and now it's completely missing
  • Cyan: Has somewhat worked throughout my tests, although inconsistently and always poor quality

I have no clue what is the issue! Is it purely an ink flow problem, or is there something permanently broken in the print head? Everything else about the printer looks fine. I have gone through too many cartridges while testing already...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Other macOS Universal Driver for Brother HL-2270DW Printer

Thumbnail github.com
1 Upvotes

Brother hasn't supported the HL-2270DW printer for many years now, and never released Apple Silicon (ARM) native or Universal drivers. macOS 27 quietly disabled support for Rosetta with CUPS, the printing subsystem of the printer, and my Brother HL-2270DW printer just stopped working. The macOS native Generic PCL driver is incredibly slow due to how it generates the bitmap, causing it to only be able to load one page at a time. I am a software developer working in Cybersecurity, and had heard of the Reverse Engineer Anything toolkit, so I decided to give it a shot at creating a new driver. It took two prompts, but I managed to build a macOS Universal native driver that implements all of the features of the official Brother Driver.

If you have an HL-2270DW printer that you are using from macOS, you can download the driver from my GitHub repo at: https://github.com/jmarler/hl2270dw-macos It uses code from the brlaser project, and it released under the GPL 2 license. The driver package is notarized and signed, so you shouldn't get any warnings after installing it. If that is something you need, I hope it helps you out. If you run into a problem, just open an Issue in GitHub and I'll get it sorted.

Full disclosure: This was created using the REA toolkit - https://github.com/morluto/rea - and Claude.

Troubleshooting Printer is Leaving Streak Down the Center

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello! For some reason, our work printer, a Brother MCF-L2760DW, is leaving this weird streak down the center of every page we print. You can see what is being printed in that middle streak. The drum was replaced yesterday and the toner has been replaced multiple times since the problem started.

If I could get any help I'd really appreciate it!

Troubleshooting Brother DCP-L3550CDW — doubled text and coloured shadows after replacing magenta toner

Post image
1 Upvotes

What would you like to troubleshoot?

Immediately after my mum replaced the magenta toner cartridge with a third-party cartridge, her Brother DCP-L3550CDW started printing as shown in the attached photo.

Text appears doubled or vertically offset, with coloured shadows below some lines. The printer displays no error messages.

Could the replacement cartridge be causing this? What should we check first?

Printer and setup:

  • Printer: Brother DCP-L3550CDW
  • Error messages: None
  • Connection: WiFi
  • Computer: MacBook Air M4
  • Operating system: macOS
  • Printer driver/version: Unknown
  • Firmware: Latest available, as far as we know
  • Replacement toner: Third-party magenta cartridge

Troubleshooting so far:

We have only tried restarting the printer, which did not resolve the issue. No cleaning or other troubleshooting has been attempted yet.

Photo of the affected print attached.

What would be the best next test to identify the cause? Happy to provide more details or another print sample.

Thanks!

Purchasing Looking for a scale that can print custom-designed labels with variable weight and date

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm starting a small cheese business in Bulgaria and I'm having a hard time finding the right scale and label printer. Basically, I want my packaging to look like a properly designed product, not like a typical supermarket label.

I've made a black-and-white label design (50 × 70 mm) with custom typography, a photo of a goat, ingredients, and some other product information.

The problem is that every package has a different weight, and I also need to print the production and expiry dates.

Ideally, I'd like to design the whole label in Illustrator, import it into the scale's software, add variable fields for weight and dates, and then just weigh the cheese and print the finished label.

I'm producing fewer than 100 packages a day, so I don't need anything industrial. I'd also prefer to avoid having a separate computer, scale, and printer running together if possible.

So far I've looked into a few options:

Daisy / ACLAS LS2ZN – Affordable, but I'm worried about the 203 dpi resolution and how well it handles images.

DIGI SM-320 – Seems similar to the Daisy.

DIGI SM-5300 X – Looks promising because of the 300 dpi printer, but I can't find much about its label editing software.

My budget is around €800–€1,000, and I'm open to buying something used.

Has anyone done something similar?

I'm mainly wondering if these scales can actually print a full label design with a reasonably detailed black-and-white image, or if they're mostly limited to basic text, barcodes, and small logos.

Also, is 203 dpi good enough for this kind of thing, or would 300 dpi make a noticeable difference?

I know preprinted labels are an option, but I'd really prefer to print everything at once if possible.

I'll attach my protoype design that i did with a printer toy :D so you can see what I'm trying to achieve.

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Troubleshooting Greeting cards printing off center

Hello, I’m not sure which group this properly goes in, because I’m not sure if it’s the printer or software. Please suggest anywhere that might help.

We make our own greeting cards from our photography. The printer is a canon pro-300. I found some templates on photoshop, I customized it, and we drop the images in. They look perfectly symmetrical with even borders, but lately every time they print, the image portion prints with uneven borders around the image. They were fine a month ago. Then we moved the computer and printer.
It’s not even whole card, it’s just the front portion with the image. They are even in photoshop. The jpgs and psd files look even on screen. They were just fine.
Nothing is working. We tried printing from Lightroom from various file types and then tried printing from photoshop. We tried making jpegs and printing them from a separate program. That one made them strange colors.
When we try to compensate for it, they break in another direction. Shift it the other way and suddenly it cuts off the bottom instead.

Could it be the printer? What information can I give you to help me figure this out?
Thank you for your time.
