Hi reddit, I’m Mike McMahan, co-creator and executive producer of the new animated show GOLDEN AXE on Paramount+! (It’s weird to put an exclamation point after a + but here we are.) This is a great season: an epic quest with mighty characters from Sega’s Golden Axe games. And it's funny! Previously, I was the creator/showrunner and executive producer of Star Trek: Lower Decks, co-creator and co-showrunner of Solar Opposites, and once upon a time I was a writer/ showrunner on Rick & Morty. My career started off as a production assistant at Drawn Together and at South Park. I’m down to talk about Golden Axe and all this nerdy stuff, so AMA!
Hey Reddit! I'm Joe Chandler. I'm the co-creator and showrunner of the new series Golden Axe based on the SEGA Genesis game. Growing up a SEGA kid, working on this show has been a dream come true. Before Golden Axe, I worked on over 200 episodes of American Dad in various roles including writer, producer, and executive producer. Ask me anything!
Hello reddit! I’m Giancarlo Volpe and I’m the Supervising Producer / Director of Golden Axe on Paramount+! Previously I’ve was a director on Avatar the Last Airbender, Star Wars the Clone Wars, and Star Vs The Forces of Evil. I’ve also produced/ supervised/ and/or Executive Produced lots of other shows, including The Boys Diabolical, Green Lantern the Animated Series and The Dragon Prince. Basically I’ve made a lot of animation, and I’m excited to talk about Golden Axe or anything else! Ask away!
We’ll be back tomorrow at 12pm ET/9am PT to answer any of your questions!!

There was no planning involved in doing that; I just drew some poses, and if I felt it lacked movement, I added more drawings in between. What do you think? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you for your time.

Not sure if this is the right place, if not I'm sorry.
But I'm a character animator wanting to learn FX
If that's what it's called.
I feel like my impact frames, explosions, visuals etc... are significantly lacking and mediocre. What can I do to make it better? Where do you find references? How do you study to improve?
Just guessing how these things might look isn't very helpful, when you arent sure how they should look.
I'm not used to Reddit, so please tell me if the video isn't visible or working.

I made it in my phone, and it looks messy because drawing with the tip of the finger is hard for details (at least for me)

i am not an animator, im generally a comic/sequential artist for my gay little characters. but ive been possessed by something insane so now im working on a very short very simple animation meme. you know the one.
here's my rough:
originally made this video to show my friend thats why u got the silly face at the end.
my question is this: its like a barely 10 frames long loop. where do i make them blink? Should i maybe copy-paste the loop a couple times so i can insert some blinking?
Edit: when i say blinking, i mean eyes. blinking eyes. i want to know when to make the eyes blink. I've dropped the frame rate from 24 to 12 and that alone already looks better, and im going to be copy-pasting these 10 frames at least once so i can add the music to the back and post it as a video. i have no idea how to do any of these things. im flying by the seat of my pants. but i have an idea and so help me god i wanna see it through for once.

Which of these two animations I made work better?
The first one I focused more on 1's to give it a more fluid animation.
The other I focused more on key poses on 3's and 2's.
