OC Night on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, Oct. 19-20, 2026, five years later

Repeating the 2021 Mauna Kea time-lapse five years later: same night, same YouTube live stream (still running!). This time the moon follows a different path, and the night is not as bright. The Keck I telescope is actively lasing. Frames were grabbed retrospectively, all at once, every 20 s with Rewyt. Credit: NAOJ & Asahi Shimbun. Camera (per stream description): Sony ILME-FX3, FE 24mm F1.4 GM.

This is a ~2h30 timelapse of the celestial south pole, taken in Namibia.

Camera: Canon R5, RF 20-50mm (at 20mm f/4), 10s per image.

Processed with a custom script that adds up the individual shots to get the "comet tail" effect.
