I do like the idea of an alien infiltration of our government but they’re hilariously incompetent and wear completely unconvincing disguises.

u/0202_tihssitidder 6h ago
Bonus: The one on the left looks like John McCain's widow, but she is not.
The aliens are actually recycling old skins/models.
It is legit fucked up. We demand unique skins.

The one on the left is Callista Gingrich, third wife of Newt (yes, that ghoul is still alive).
She and Newt had an affair while he was still married to Wife No. 2, Marianne, and while he was leading the impeachment of Clinton for ... *checks notes* ... lying about having an affair.

Now that’s an interesting premise. Pushing us towards 96% CO2 atmosphere and daytime temperatures of 450 C would be exactly what the Venousians would want. They use the Republican puppets to resist all legislation that would prevent that. Makes sense now.

It's fun to talk about conspiracy theories but for me it's much more scary to see humans being this distorted and disconnected from reality that they see this look as beautiful. Also the kind of people that chose or let this kind of people to get most powerful positions in their country. Therein lies the real horror...

It may be apocryphal but I heard men started wearing the bottom button of their jackets unbuttoned because Henry VIII was so fat that he couldn’t get his closed over his stomach and men around followed suit so he wouldn’t be singled out and embarrassed.
I often wonder if the people who maim their faces like that truly like the look, accidentally go too far, or are just doing it to fit in with everyone around them looking like Pennywise disguising himself but his heart’s not in it.
Edit: I’ve been corrected that it wasn’t Henry VIII, but Edward VII.
7
u/whenthesirenssound 3h ago
Small correction: that mythical origin is attributed to Edward VII, not Henry VIII.

Not true. Check out the fashions in Georgian times. Fully buttoned jackets (so many buttons).
Edit: you'd have a better argument with George IV, not Henry. He was a portly chappy too)

It's people with ageing faces getting plastic surgery and using makeup to try and look more youthful because they think that is at least better than how they looked before. It's more a reflection on how we treat old/ugly people and what people are willing to do to avoid that treatment/perception.

I was arguing against the idea that people 'see this look as beautiful' and pointing out it's an attempt to look beautiful. I didn't say they looked good.

u/ManuelTzetzes 8h ago
Obviously they have different beauty standards than the human race. (I was going to say "rest of the human race" but they're obviously in some other race).
Do you think when they meet they're all "OMG! You look amazing! It's like how much more lopsided can your eyes be? I'm so jealous!" And they mean it.

On my first day of first grade, I crossed paths in the school hallway with a girl who had severely deformed facial features. I had never seen anything like that, in my life and instinctively my reaction was to laugh at her. For obvious reasons, this interaction caught up with me and teachers addressed me and informed me how inappropriate it is to laugh at someone who has a physical deformity that they can't control. Of course, they were 100% correct. These are people and they have feelings and it's not okay to hurt their feelings like that. I've held onto that ethos my entire life. Only now, I've made an exception for people who intentionally make their face deformed due to extreme vanity. I think everyone should routinely laugh at them.

sometimes cosmetic procedures along with too much or bad makeup bring people into uncanny valley territory. I dont want to be mean, but it makes me reconsider the possibility of getting work done when I get older. Cher has always looked great and Demi Moore does too but seeing a lot of work done where people looked better before lately.

There is another one with a super long neck and what appeared to be a slightly elongated skull hiding under her poof of fake blond hair too.
I'm not kidding, check out the side view at the beginning of this clip, her head is way bigger than the guy's, and you can see the part in her hair so it's not like a bufont hairdo creating the effect.
