Billionaires love immigrants. The more desperate for work, the more tenuous the connection to the country they're in, the lower the wage they can pay, the better.
Jeff B is a perfect example. Amazon functions by underpaying vulnerable workers and vendors who hire vulnerable workers.

Yeah, illegal immigration is a labor source a lot of people exploit. Itâs not a good thing and I donât know why people pretend it is

Sales tax is regressive - a percentage cost on food means more to someone making 60k than someone making 1250k much less someone making 150000k.
Just sayin.

u/Al_Tilly_the_Bum 3h ago
Some actually do. They will get SSN that belongs to someone else. So they end up paying both FICA and income taxes but will never see the benefits of those FICA taxes. But they also pay a ton of sales tax, property taxes (directly or indirectly through rent), gas tax, and other excise and franchise taxes.

u/M0ebius_1 2h ago
Even if you don't have an SSN you can apply for a Tax identification number and pay taxes

Dude an illegal isnât going to have any of the below that you need to apply for I9.
List A Document (Proves both identity and work authorization):
U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
Permanent Resident Card or Green Card (Form I-551)
Foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or MRIV
Employment Authorization Document (EAD) with a photograph (Form I-7661

Illegal immigrants and people without work permits get ITTNs so they can be on American payrolls.

That also requires them to steal identities...which is super illegal, immoral, and can really harm people's lives even if they aren't being purposely malicious.
There are stories about people getting laid off and not being able to get unemployment because of that behavior.

I know that most people on asylum have a ssn and they can work and pay taxes with it. The IRS also issues ITIN to everyone including illegals. They also pay a lot if taxes through that. Sales taxes, wage taxes, basically any tax that comes with interacting with society
4
u/Icy-Cauliflower5830 1h ago
If theyâre paying âwage taxâ, they are âdocumentedâ. All employers in the US must fill out an I9 form to prove citizenship before hiring somebody. So billionaires are getting of paying sales tax and âany tax that comes with interacting with societyâ? I believe the meme is referring to income tax. Some illegals give false SS numbers so they donât have to pay taxes. If theyâre getting paid cash, theyâre not paying income tax.

u/Arcaddes 59m ago
The majority of immigrants that get into the US immediately file for asylum or citizenship. In doing so they can also apply for an EAD that allows them to work in the US but gain no substantial benefits.
Even if the asylum or citizenship falls through or takes years, the EAD still allows them to work here. So the idea of undocumented immigrants flooding in is a misnomer as most want to be documented to work real jobs, not under the table.
The more documentation they have that they are a functioning and beneficial part of US society works in their favor with USCIS. USCIS in this case usually holds off on accepting their paperwork on purpose to gain those sweet free benefits of labor taxation without giving anything in return.
If an immigrant is undocumented it usually means they are in the sex trade against their will, be it sold off to a US citizen as a forced wife promising citizenship, or a legit sex slave to pimps for the same deal.
Source; I worked VAWA cases at the USCIS, shit is so fucking common it makes normal folks sick and they stop doing it after a short period of time.
1
u/Substantial-Cold6546 42m ago
Which means they are documented. Not the ones the meme is referring too
1
u/Arcaddes 36m ago
The meme is just as misguided as Conservative drivel of the opposing caliber. Undocumented is not a status any immigrant wants to be illegal or not. Folk are taught more about immigration laws in Mexico and South America than Americans are, that is why there is so much misinformation.
1
u/ddddooooook 1h ago
This isnât quite correct:
First, independent contractors and a few other types of work donât have I9 requirements.
Second, the I9 only establishes identity and permission to work - not citizenship. Noncitizens CAN legally work if they have work permits, including many undocumented immigrants and/or those in the citizenship or asylum process.
(And yes, some employers accept false documents or ignore the rules here, but this still results in taxes being paid usually)
Lastly, many undocumented immigrants can and do file income taxes through an ITIN - you donât need a SSN to file taxes.
1
1
u/clickclackyisbacky 44m ago
"(And yes, some employers accept false documents or ignore the rules here, but this still results in taxes being paid usually)"
Any conversation about unpaid taxes is speculative. But the Congressional Budget Office estimates compliance is between 50-75% for Federal and payroll tax. And orginizations that push for legal status say an additional $40 billion in taxes would be paid. These estimates cut both ways, in my opinion. 50% of taxes being paid sounds good or bad depending on your politics.
It's funny that the OP also cuts both ways. Billionaires do dodge more tax in absolute terms, but immigrants dodge more taxes as a percent.
1
u/Aggravating-Ad8087 29m ago
You must report any wage over $600 to the irs through 1099's. People are just illegally working without documents or under other peoples documents. This becomes an issue when they try to get documented. How do i know, i work in a tac place and see it almost everyday.

lol this is something to easily research
Too 1% of tax payers in the US pay roughly $825-850 billion a year in taxes. Even if they âevadeâ the $163 billion, they still contribute a lot more than anyone.
Illegal Immigrants do contribute tax dollars but are still a net draw on the US. They cost us around $150 billion annually (schooling, healthcare, and law enforcement) after accounting for tax revenue which is estimated to be closer to $31 billion. Even if your number is right they are still costing more than they contribute.
1
u/OutlawedLogic 3h ago
Direct Government Service Costs
âą Public K-12 Education: Constitutes the largest single public cost, with estimates around $68 billion annually for children of undocumented immigrants.
Emergency Healthcare: Undocumented immigrants are barred from standard Medicaid, but federal law (EMTALA) requires emergency rooms to treat life-threatening conditions, and Emergency Medicaid reimburses hospitals for acute care and labor/delivery. Federal and state emergency medical expenditures total several billion dollars per year (with CBO estimates noting over $16 billion across a multi-year period).
State & Local Welfare Programs: While federal means-tested programs are restricted, roughly half the states offer limited, state-funded healthcare, nutrition, or assistance programs for specific groups (such as pregnant women or children) regardless of status. Overall estimates for total federal, state, and local expenditures vary widely by organization (e.g., conservative policy groups like FAIR estimate total annual federal/state costs in the tens of billions, while fiscal analyses debate net impacts).

2021 The IRS's Statistics of Income division publishes annual data showing the share of taxes paid by taxpayers across ranges of Adjusted Gross Income (ACI). The newly released report covers Tax Year 2021 (for tax forms filed in 2022). The newest data reveals that the top 1 percent of earners, defined as those with incomes over $682,577, paid nearly 46 percent of all income taxes - marking the highest level in the available data.
The top 10% of earners bore responsibility for 76% of all income taxes paid, and the top 25% paid 89%of all income taxes. Altogether, the top 50% of filers earned 90% of all income and were responsible for 98% of all income taxes paid in 2021.

It's never been about taxes (well for some morons it may be I guess). It's about law and order, and about trust in society. Everybody from this lowly minion to the richest man on the planets knows taxes are a sewer hole of theft and corruption.
Everyone with a wit of sense avoids any taxes they don't have to pay.
Just for clarity. The top 1% currently pay 40.4% of all federal income taxes. Fact.
The bottom 50% of earners pay 3% of all federal income taxes. Fact
Paying or not paying taxes isn't the crux of the issue. Fraud, theft and outright corruption on every level of government is the real place the rubber meets the road.
Stop the theft, fraud and corruption and taxes can be reduced on every level.
Thank you. God bless.

Percentage of income tax paid into system not percentage taken out of pay just to be clear. 37% of your income, not including deductions when making over 660k sure hurts a lot less than 10% of someone making 12k Not to mention the 1% holds most of their wealth in assets, not income so their true wealth comes from stocks, property and other assets that they have a letiny of ways to avoid tax on, like taking low interest loans out to purchase more assets to increase their wealth without have to sell these assets avoiding capital gains tax.

The top 1% are responsible and main offenders for the wage theft, fraud, and corruption. Your logic is "Stop the corruption, but the ones that are corrupt and committed the wage theft aren't corrupt"

We found out the hard way when businesses were heavily taxed in the past. That's why hardly ever see anything made in the US anymore. Those businesses went overseas and all the jobs they provided.

They went overseas because Americans demand higher wages. That's literally it.

Because like half or more of them are just people who overstayed their visa. A lot of them are working and paying income tax. Hence why ICE got records from the IRS.

Then they are not undocumented they are documented illegal immigrants. Undocumented means they never had a visaÂ

I know you won't read it because it's not a picture book but to show others that you "people" are stupid on purpose.
Anti-intellectualism is a helluva drug, real lowest common denominator behavior.

They call it corporate welfare. Itâs the most disgusting and unAmerican idea. The same people that cry about free market ideals are happy to take the bailouts and the tax breaks and then they donât even reinvest it into the workforce they employ. The tax breaks were meant to help the boss pay employees more competitively and keep their workforce employed and skilled. Instead they use it for their own personal gain and then tell everyone to be wary of the foreigner who is contributing to society far more just by being a good human being.
