Sales taxes, wage taxes, basically any tax that comes with interacting with society

5

u/Icy-Cauliflower5830 2h ago

If they’re paying “wage tax”, they are “documented”. All employers in the US must fill out an I9 form to prove citizenship before hiring somebody. So billionaires are getting of paying sales tax and “any tax that comes with interacting with society”? I believe the meme is referring to income tax. Some illegals give false SS numbers so they don’t have to pay taxes. If they’re getting paid cash, they’re not paying income tax.

Hey don’t ruin a good social justice meme with truth and facts. You’re supposed to blindly hate

2

u/Icy-Cauliflower5830 1h ago

Sorry, I usually just roll my eyes and shake my head and scroll on

2

u/w0ndernine 29m ago

Don’t forget racist, xenophobic, and oppressive too

0

u/ddddooooook 1h ago

Well, considering they are neither truth nor facts the meme is intact lol

The majority of immigrants that get into the US immediately file for asylum or citizenship. In doing so they can also apply for an EAD that allows them to work in the US but gain no substantial benefits.

Even if the asylum or citizenship falls through or takes years, the EAD still allows them to work here. So the idea of undocumented immigrants flooding in is a misnomer as most want to be documented to work real jobs, not under the table.

The more documentation they have that they are a functioning and beneficial part of US society works in their favor with USCIS. USCIS in this case usually holds off on accepting their paperwork on purpose to gain those sweet free benefits of labor taxation without giving anything in return.

If an immigrant is undocumented it usually means they are in the sex trade against their will, be it sold off to a US citizen as a forced wife promising citizenship, or a legit sex slave to pimps for the same deal.

Source; I worked VAWA cases at the USCIS, shit is so fucking common it makes normal folks sick and they stop doing it after a short period of time.

Which means they are documented. Not the ones the meme is referring too

1

u/Arcaddes 1h ago

The meme is just as misguided as Conservative drivel of the opposing caliber. Undocumented is not a status any immigrant wants to be illegal or not. Folk are taught more about immigration laws in Mexico and South America than Americans are, that is why there is so much misinformation.

This isn’t quite correct:

First, independent contractors and a few other types of work don’t have I9 requirements.

Second, the I9 only establishes identity and permission to work - not citizenship. Noncitizens CAN legally work if they have work permits, including many undocumented immigrants and/or those in the citizenship or asylum process.

(And yes, some employers accept false documents or ignore the rules here, but this still results in taxes being paid usually)

Lastly, many undocumented immigrants can and do file income taxes through an ITIN - you don’t need a SSN to file taxes.

Thank you for the information

"(And yes, some employers accept false documents or ignore the rules here, but this still results in taxes being paid usually)"

Any conversation about unpaid taxes is speculative. But the Congressional Budget Office estimates compliance is between 50-75% for Federal and payroll tax. And orginizations that push for legal status say an additional $40 billion in taxes would be paid. These estimates cut both ways, in my opinion. 50% of taxes being paid sounds good or bad depending on your politics.

It's funny that the OP also cuts both ways. Billionaires do dodge more tax in absolute terms, but immigrants dodge more taxes as a percent.

u/Aggravating-Ad8087 1h ago

You must report any wage over $600 to the irs through 1099's. People are just illegally working without documents or under other peoples documents. This becomes an issue when they try to get documented. How do i know, i work in a tac place and see it almost everyday.

1

u/w0ndernine 29m ago

If they’ve been granted work permits, they have thus been documented.

1

u/ddddooooook 13m ago

Then people criticizing the OP need to decide what they’re talking about what they say undocumented. Because, for example, many of the folks crossing the southern border would be documented under this definition.

1

u/No_Put1505 14m ago

If they have a work permit they are not illegal

2

u/LonelyReflection1717 2h ago

So they pay tax through spending another countrys money that they are gifted...remember to stretch and not pull a hamstring with those mental gymnastics

2

u/Overall-Group-7347 2h ago

Wage taxes? You mean income tax that requires a social security number or a work visa in order for it to be taken out of your paycheck?

2

u/QuikPops2020 1h ago

Lots of well documented fraud by illegals.

2

u/Otherwise-Log9281 1h ago

And it’s a net loss because they cost the taxpayer $150B on the low end and upwards of $450B on the high end. So yeah, we would save money by deporting every one of them.

2

u/Bumm-fluff 1h ago

Aka buying stuff.

Hey look everyone Immigration is great because they buy stuff.

Lol.

There are plenty of small businesses in one-horse towns all over the south that would fold tomorrow if they didn't have undocumented immigrants buying their wares. The owners of those businesses care, and the state needs the sales tax. The irony is that the higher the number of undocumented immigrants claimed to be present, the greater the tax and revenue hit when they're all gone. And we can stop pretending that we'll maintain 3%+ GDP growth with a shrinking population--look at Japan. Our immigration system clearly needs reform, but our capitalist economy needs bodies, and we ain't making enough of them at home. Just ask all of these business owners who hire all the undocumented workers.

1

u/Bumm-fluff 1h ago

Japan has had massive debt for ages, a few crashes, and has China right on their doorstep taking the manufacturing jobs.

A larger population wouldn't solve that.

The obsession with growth at all costs needs to stop; it is obviously unsustainable.

1

u/SingleArtichoke4857 1h ago

By those parameters, Japan sounds like the US! I don't disagree with your last point...but Wall Street does.

1

u/Smooth_Composer1879 2h ago

Income taxes too. So much was learned from Al Capone.

1

u/Odd-Consequence-2519 2h ago

Wage tax?!?!! 😆 đŸ€Ł 😂

1

u/Fitasfafter55 1h ago

Right!? Man you can’t make this shit up!

1

u/Fitasfafter55 1h ago

Nope they’re NOT paying fkg 1/3 of their income in INCOME TAXES like LEGAL immigrants and CITIZENS!

1

u/trying3216 53m ago

People on vacation here from another country pay those too. They still have to go home when their vacation is over.

Meanwhile citizens are expected to pay income tax ON TOP OF THE OTHER TAXES while illegals mostly don’t pay those.

1

u/Fit_Cream2027 48m ago

Illegals are not paying wage taxes. Stfu

1

u/w0ndernine 30m ago

If they’re paying FICA, etc, I’m not sure what your definition of undocumented is. Because that would definitely require them to be documented by the IRS

0

u/Puzzleheaded-Map7672 2h ago

So do billionaires so I guess they’re equal in your eyes?

2

u/Revolutionary_Oil292 2h ago

Do you think billionaires pay their fair share? 🧐

1

u/Icy-Cauliflower5830 2h ago

No, they’re smarter and probably harder working then me.

1

u/_DuckDorde 2h ago

No, not at all. Billionaires pay on average only 8.2% of their individual taxes compared to the average American’s 13% (source)

1

u/Someguy56731 2h ago

I thought we were comparing billionaires to illegals

2

u/UltraconservativeBap 1h ago

Someone was paying attention đŸ‘đŸŒ

1

u/13trailblazer 2h ago

So we know about $163B in tax evasion and the IRS is looking the other way or are we misusing the word evade?

1

u/Icy-Cauliflower5830 1h ago

I dunno, I pay little tax as possible, are we considering that evasion?

1

u/primeweed 1h ago

They have to change the definition of words or their reality falls apart like telling them men can't become women

1

u/13trailblazer 1h ago

I guess this is like when defunding the police didn’t mean defunding the police

1

u/ZeroGravity43 1h ago

Im genuinely curious about this, I keep seeing people speak about this, where can I find this information?

1

u/Positive_Alpha 20m ago

Tax evasion is illegal. Tax avoidance is you have enough income to hire a good CPA to find deductions. The theory is these people create positive externalities that benefit society. Whether that is true or not in reality is the real debate.

1

u/13trailblazer 19m ago

Cool, so it is not evasion then.

1

u/orangepeel1975 1h ago

Billionaires don’t write the tax code. The loopholes were written by our elected politicians. Nothing will change. As soon as everybody realizes that it’s all lip service, and that it’s a good old boy club, and we are not invited to join. Yes, even Democrat politicians enjoy the massive political donations from billionaires. They have zero incentive to change the tax code. It’s crazy to me that people can’t figure out how billionaires avoid paying income taxes. You pay yourself a modest salary and pay taxes on your modest salary. Then, you expense the fuck out of everything through your business.

0

u/Fit_Cream2027 50m ago

The top 25% of income earners pay over 85% of the overall income tax into federal coffers. The bottom 50% of earners pay less than 3.4%. Thanks for your hyperbole.

Where are they getting the money to pay sales tax?

2

u/Fitasfafter55 1h ago edited 1h ago

That’s an easy question to answer. They work in various industries like busboys, laborers, yard maintenance, etc and get PAID CASH under the table. This shit is not new jeez.its as old as dirt, but only now has it gotten so bad that its an actual conversation.

1

u/Immediate-Bit-2692 1h ago

That is illegal and you support illegal activities? So, they are in the country illegally, they are working illegally, what else are they doing that is illegal? I thought, nobody is above the law?

1

u/Fitasfafter55 1h ago

It’s illegal yes you’re correct. I’m simply and objectively telling the other person. This is how. They get the money to pay their sales taxes.

1

u/Fitasfafter55 1h ago

I do NOT support illegal anything I don’t know where you got that from?

1

u/Immediate-Bit-2692 1h ago

Seems it is okay as long as they are paying sales tax, but the fact remain they are here illegally.

1

u/Hatshepsut99 1h ago

and yet they pay taxes, which fund the social security Trumo voters need to retire. No one ever called MAGAts smart.

1

u/Immediate-Bit-2692 1h ago

They are here illegally and I thought everyone wanted criminals to be held accountable.
