LOL better than me with "huh, that was fun...oh Fast Car is playing" which is now etched into ny brain forever.
Also, we had Chinese food and the fortune cookie said, I shit you not (truly this actually happened): good things are coming your way.
She knew it was my first time and asked how it was and I had to, just HAD to say "the fortune cookie was right" and she was clearly expecting something much more romantic or deep. First of a bunch of fumbles haha. Not a long relationship that one.

9
u/scgt86 28d ago
Ok now how in the hell do you smoke weed out of a bagel?? I need to know.
20
u/MoonOut_StarsInvite Xennial 28d ago
Hahah! We would usually make a hole on the top on one side. Work your finger downward and around the curve to the side, where you meet another hole on the side. Then we put a foil bowl in the hole on top. I can’t recall if we made a carb or not, I want to say no. That place was wild. Literally everyone who worked there was a raver, hippie or in the hip hop scene. We smoked weed all the time, the weekend morning shift folks sometimes came in from being up all night at parties and one of the managers sent me to buy shrooms once so her and this other dude could trip at work together since they didn’t work the same shifts anymore. Later on I was a night baker, so I was there making catering orders that I drive around to leave at corporate offices and stuff. I would smoke weed and jam out and sometimes bring a friend. Once I brought a friend who was shrooming and just let her play with a big tub of sesame seeds. 🤪

We used an apple once and after we were done, I told one of the guys in the group that if he REALLY wanted to blast off, he needed to eat the apple. Told him, “the thc baked into it.” I was joking and wanted to see how gullible he was. He then proceeded to ask if he needed to eat the core, seeds, and stems. I said, “yes….” and then watched in awe as he ate the entire thing…
Good times.
16
u/brunohedgerow 28d ago
I would almost always eat the apple. Seemed like a waste not to. It had the added benefit of disposing of MOST of the evidence.
Also I may or may not have believed that it got you more stoned

What you probably miss is doing something illicit. It's exciting. Try something like urban exploration instead! It's pretty harmless trespassing but still adds a little thrill to a hike or walk.
12
u/mrsolo30daycureyolol Millennial 27d ago
I think you’re right. It was the excitement. I mean now, the weed is better, smoking devices better, legalities are much better, but it was the fact it truly felt “counter culture”. Now everyone and their mom goes to the dispo and openly walks around vaping. That, and I was still young.
6
u/Aster_Yellow 27d ago
It really was an adventure most of the time, getting the stuff, finding a place to smoke, and then looking for food was an absolute oddessy. I remember pooling what little money we had and walking to a convenience store, convincing one another we didn't smell like weed before going inside, like the dude behind the counter even cared.

u/Louis-Russ 27d ago
I'd wager what we really miss is the free time and the camaraderie.

Goddam do I ever love The Strokes. Weezer was my favorite band of all time from age ohhhh about 13-20. Then I had a brief depressive period where Elliott Smith was tops from say 20 to 35, but from 35 to present, The Strokes cannot be beat. They are too good. One Way Trigger? Selfless? Come on now.
3
u/AlbusStormgaard 27d ago
I saw both the Strokes and Weezer within a couple weeks of each other this summer. They were both fantastic and absolutely transporting me back to high school and college days when times were simpler.

So my first week of junior high, I was walking to my next class with this guy Adam (who went on to ask me to dance at the first dance of the year) and someone passing by says to him "you better not mess with her, shes so and so's little sister"
I was slightly annoyed but also kind proud that not only was my brother well known, I was well known and protected by association.
Alot of his friends had crushes on me but I never knew that til years later, cause they were also afraid of what he'd do to them

Even the band doesn't want fans to get too deep on the lyrics but I actually think they hold their own above Im14andthisisdeep territory.

I remember sitting in the back of my buddy's car on Ricky Lane (was our smoke spot until the cops discovered it) smoking. There was four of us. My buddy puts on Paranoid Android, and it was the first time I ever heard it. He had this blue light thingy that you put in the cigarette lighter and it had a No Smoking sign on it, which young stoner me got a kick out of. But I just vividly remember everything about the moment the breakdown happens, and we're going back more than 20 years at this point.

Definitely did this with incubus a ton but the main band was always Modest Mouse. Discovered them in 9th grade when Good News came out and then found their earlier albums and played them to death. Until I was like 19 that shit was gospel. Still is, but the summers of MoMo aren't what they were back then.
If you havent listened to Lonesome Crowded West or Long Drive or Building nothing.. i urge you to give it a shot. Some of the best songs ever.

I played soooo much Juno Reactor - Shango while playing A Link to the Past while stoned that they are combined in my brain. (Not because I was stoned, juat the repetition). I associate boss fights to specific songs when I hear and feel like the soundtrack is missing any time I play it now.

Oh man, my intro to Incubus was immediately after I broke the shit out of my leg and had to wait for surgery (weekend at a rural hospital) so I was on a shitload of morphine, and my dad was like "you might enjoy this album" and holy fuck. Excellent morphine music.
