I used holes that I bored into the ground once (with a piece of aluminum foil as the bowl).

It worked amazingly well, and only requires dirt, a stick, aluminum foil, weed, and fire (which can be on the dry end of the stick!). My favorite rigged setup is still from my first time smoking though, where we had two partially functioning lighters; one with fluid and one with flint. We used one to light the other, and used that to light a candle, which we used to smoke. That time it was just a bowl made entirely out of aluminum foil.
