My best friend accidentally sent me a screenshot of her talking about me

2.7k Upvotes

So my best friend accidentally sent me a screenshot of a conversation she was having with someone else. She was trying to show me something that person had said but didn't crop the screenshot properly. Right above it was a message from her saying I'm way too clingy and that she's tired of me constantly texting her and wanting her attention.

I asked her about it. She apologized and said she was just frustrated because we'd had a small argument a few days earlier. She said she didn't really mean it and was just venting. But she's NEVER once told me she needs more space. We text pretty much every day and I always thought that was normal for us. She's usually the one starting conversations too. I know people vent about their friends sometimes. I'm not pretending I've never done that. But actually seeing what she said about me feels different.

Now I feel weird even texting her because I'm wondering if I'm annoying her.

What do I even do here?

boyfriend cried after I asked for foreplay.

1.2k Upvotes

So I've (20F) just recently gotten into a relationship with my current bf (28M) and he cried over me asking if he could do foreplay before we're intimate with eachother. I don't really know what to do in this situation. I ended up calming him down but should I bring it up again? How would I bring it up again?

(edit, mor background info) Me and him have been together for 3 months and have had sex maybe 5 times and I hadn't brought up the foreplay thing until yesterday. He crys easily but only when I say something mean. I didn't know he was gonna cry to this.

UPDATE: Dry cleaner shrank my $280 wool coat and offered me $40. I finally pushed back.

1.1k Upvotes

I figured I'd update everyone because I finally got somewhere with the dry cleaner, although it took more effort than I expected.

After reading the comments on my original post, I decided not to accept the $40.

A few people suggested getting a second opinion before going back, so I took the coat to another dry cleaner across town.

The woman there examined it and immediately noticed the shortened sleeves and the puckering around the lining.

She said she couldn't confirm exactly what happened without knowing how it had been cleaned, but that the damage was consistent with improper handling of wool.

She also told me that restoring it to its original condition probably wasn't realistic.

That was honestly disappointing because part of me was still hoping the coat could somehow be fixed.

I asked if she could put her observations in writing, and she agreed.

Last Friday, I went back to Mr. Lim's shop with the original receipt, pictures of the coat before cleaning, and the written assessment.

I explained that I understood the coat wasn't brand new anymore, but it was less than a year old and had been worn maybe twenty times.

I wasn't expecting him to hand me $280 without a conversation. I just wanted something closer to the actual loss.

He looked at the assessment and seemed annoyed that I'd gone somewhere else.

He repeated that clothing naturally loses value and said he couldn't be responsible for how every fabric reacts to cleaning.

I asked whether he had any record of the cleaning method used on my coat.

He said he'd have to check.

Then he offered me $75.

I told him I appreciated the increase, but $75 still wouldn't come close to replacing a coat I'd bought less than a year ago.

That's when he said something that really frustrated me.

He told me that if I wanted expensive clothes to stay perfect, I should be more careful about where I took them.

I didn't really know how to respond to that.

I mean, isn't taking a dry-clean-only coat to a professional dry cleaner exactly what I'm supposed to do?

I stayed polite and asked whether he'd be willing to review the situation with his insurance provider or whoever handled customer damage claims.

He said he'd think about it.

Two days later, I received a phone call from his daughter, who apparently helps manage the business.

She was much easier to talk to.

She apologized for how the situation had been handled and said she'd reviewed my receipt and the pictures.

She explained that their usual compensation policy considered the age and condition of garments, so they wouldn't reimburse the full purchase price.

However, she offered me $180 as a final settlement.

I asked whether I could have the offer in writing before agreeing.

She sent it that afternoon.

After thinking about it, I accepted.

I know some people will probably say I should've pushed for the full $280, especially since the coat was still relatively new.

But I also didn't want to spend weeks arguing over the remaining $100, particularly when I wasn't guaranteed to recover it.

I picked up the payment yesterday.

I'm still disappointed because I genuinely loved that coat. It was one of the few nicer things I'd bought for myself, and I was hoping to wear it for years.

But getting $180 instead of $40 feels like a reasonable outcome.

The strangest part is that I almost accepted the original offer because I felt uncomfortable arguing with a business owner.

Looking back, I think I was more worried about seeming difficult than about the fact that something I paid good money for had been damaged.

I'm glad I spoke up.

I probably won't be returning to that cleaner, but I'm not planning to leave an angry review or make a bigger issue out of it.

I'm just going to find somewhere else and be a lot more careful about who handles my clothes.

Still, I'm curious whether other people would've accepted the $180 or kept pushing for the full amount.

TL;DR: I got a second opinion confirming that my wool coat's damage was consistent with improper cleaning. When I returned with documentation, the owner increased his offer from $40 to $75. After I asked about their claims process, his daughter contacted me and offered $180. I accepted, although I'm still disappointed about losing a coat I loved.

My friend’s boyfriend was trying to unlock my apartment door in the middle of the night

367 Upvotes

Sorry if it is too long. I wanted to give some context.

I (29F) live alone in a cute small apartment. I’m an introvert and work from home, so I spend a lot of time at home or at the gym from time to time. My bf lives in another city, and since my job gives me more flexibility, I usually travel to see him.

I recently got a small aquarium, and since I’m away so much, I gave one of my friends a spare key so she could come over and feed the fish once a day. She said she would

Two days ago, I got back from spending a week with my bf. I let my friend know I was back, cleaned the apartment and went to bed.

It was raining and I was so tired that I fell asleep pretty quickly. I woke up to use the bathroom and found the floor covered in wet footprints, with water everywhere. They went all the way from my bedroom to the front door. I was so confused because I knew I’d cleaned the apartment before going to bed. I couldn’t fall back asleep after that.

Yesterday, I stayed up late watching Netflix on my laptop. I was already in bed, so I’d turned off the lights. I heard what sounded like someone putting a key into my front door and slowly trying to unlock it.

I paused what I was watching and I heard it again.

I jumped out of bed and called out “Who’s there?”

I then heard the keys being pulled out of the lock, followed by footsteps running away.

I immediately turned on the lights and went to the door, but I couldn’t see anyone through the peephole. I went to the window to see if I could spot anyone outside. I live in a well-lit area, and the building has motion-sensor lights.

A few seconds later, someone came out of the building, triggering the lights. He seemed startled and turned around and I saw my friend’s boyfriend. I went to check my front door, and sure enough, someone had been trying to unlock it. My door requires three full turns of the key to lock properly, and I always make sure it’s locked before going to bed. This time, it opened after just one turn.

I’m SO sure someone had been messing with my door.

This morning, I called my friend and asked her about what had happened. She immediately started yelling at me, saying her boyfriend had been out with his friends the night before, came home afterwards and left this morning. She told me to touch some grass because not everybody is into me, then hung up on me.

I’m still in shock. I wasn’t even accusing him of anything. I was just trying to understand what had happened.

What do I do?

Might’ve gotten my girlfriend pregnant…

283 Upvotes

I’ve seen just about a million posts like this one on here, and maybe I shouldn’t even be posting in Reddit anyways, but I thought I’d get somebody’s opinion on my situation.

I think I (16M) might’ve gotten my girlfriend (16F) pregnant. I know it’s dumb and I have nobody else to blame but myself, I’m just here for guidance because I’m obviously young and dumb and I just need help maybe navigating wth I’m even supposed to do here

We’re not too sure yet but her period is 4 days late and she doesn’t have irregular periods. If she is actually pregnant and decides to keep it, first and foremost I AM staying because I’m not a douche, and second, I’ll have to tell my parents obviously. Luckily I wouldn’t be exiled from the family, but I’d get a good ass woop and a grounding for life, but they’d hopefully still love me lol. My mom is a hardcore Christian and has told me from a YOUNG young age to always be smart and wait till marriage etc etc. I think her parents would be more understanding of our situation because they’re just those types of people.

All in all I just need guidance. Idek what I’m supposed to do and any help would be appreciated 🙏

My roommate keeps asking me to take care of her dog and do chores while I’m sick and recovering from brain surgery. Like what do i do?

Thumbnail gallery
91 Upvotes

Edit:
I also want to clarify that I’ve already addressed this with her multiple times. I pay more rent than she does, and she somehow has no problem feeding her own dog when I’m at work in the mornings. But when I’m home sick, suddenly I’m expected to take care of her responsibilities.
The last time I brought this up, she got extremely bitchy with me and made me feel like my own home isn’t even a safe or comfortable place for me anymore. I feel like I can’t say anything without her getting an attitude, which makes the entire situation even more stressful.
And before anyone asks, yes, I do have my own dog. However, my boyfriend has been helping me take care of my dog while I’m recovering because he understands that I’m physically not in a position to do everything myself right now. That’s the difference: I’m making arrangements for my dog’s care instead of expecting someone who is seriously ill to take over my responsibilities.
I’m not asking my roommate to do everything for me, and I’m not saying I should never have to help out around the apartment. I’m asking for basic consideration while I’m recovering from brain surgery and dealing with pneumonia. I’ve tried communicating with her about this multiple times already, and I’m honestly at a loss for what to do because I don’t want to feel uncomfortable in my own home, especially when I’m already dealing with so much physically.
I’m honestly getting so frustrated with my roommate, and I need some outside perspective because I feel like she’s expecting way too much from me right now.
I’m currently recovering from brain surgery, and on top of that, I have pneumonia. I’ve been dealing with a lot physically, including severe headaches and pain around my incision. I’m exhausted and just trying to rest and get better.
Despite all of this, my roommate keeps texting me asking me to feed her dog, Faye, and take care of things for her. I’ve attached screenshots of some of our conversations for context.
For example, she’s texted me multiple times about feeding Faye and making sure she goes potty. On another occasion, she asked me to feed Faye and unload and reload the dishwasher.
The dishwasher request particularly irritated me because I barely even use the dishes in the first place. I usually wash the few things I use in the sink myself, so I don’t understand why I’m being asked to handle an entire dishwasher load while I’m literally sick and recovering from surgery.
I understand that Faye needs to be fed and taken outside. I love animals, and I don’t want the dog to go without care. However, Faye is her dog, not mine, and taking care of her is ultimately my roommate’s responsibility. I shouldn’t automatically become responsible for her pet just because I’m home.
What makes this even more frustrating is that being home doesn’t mean I’m available to do chores or take care of other people’s responsibilities. I’m home because I’m sick and recovering from a major surgery, not because I’m sitting around with nothing to do.
I feel like my roommate isn’t considering how physically awful I feel right now. I’m dealing with pneumonia on top of my recovery, and I genuinely need rest.
Am I wrong for being upset about this? How would you handle this situation without creating even more tension with your roommate? Would you tell her directly that you can’t keep helping with the dog and household chores, or would you just stop agreeing to do these things?
TL;DR: I’m recovering from brain surgery and currently have pneumonia, but my roommate keeps asking me to feed her dog, take her outside, and do household chores like unloading and reloading the dishwasher. I barely use the dishes and wash my own in the sink. I’m exhausted, in pain, and just want to recover without being expected to take care of my roommate’s responsibilities. Am I wrong for being frustrated, and how should I handle this?

New Girlfriend has a Kink that Makes me Uncomfortable

85 Upvotes

New girlfriend has a sexual kink that makes me really uncomfortable, not sure what to do, any advice welcome.

I'm a white male and am in a straight interracial relationship with a black female. We only decided to make it official a month and a half ago so it's still a very fresh relationship. We're both very much in that honeymoon phase of being in a new relationship and infatuated with one another. We have sex every time we see each other which is 2-3 times per week. Best sex I've ever had in my life, we are both on the same wavelength, enjoy all the same things, it's wild. Except about 2 weeks ago while we were having sex, she asked me to call her the N word. I am not a racist and hate that word, but I didnt want to upset her so did it, but felt bad. Now when we have sex she keeps telling me to call her the N word, she'll say things like "Tell me l'm your dirty n-word" and repeat it but it makes me feel so uncomfortable and upset because don't like talking like that.

I'm just not sure how to bring this up to her and don't want to hurt her feelings or make things awkward. Any advice on how should I approach this? Should l just man up and do it anyway?

I thought I'd moved past my wife's family's disapproval, but one Instagram post brought it all back

59 Upvotes

My wife and I started dating when we were 16. We've been married for 17 years now, have three kids (16M, 14F, 11M), and honestly, we have a really good marriage. I love her a lot, and I'm not accusing her of cheating or anything like that.

But there's something that's been bothering me for years, and last week it brought back a lot of old feelings.

My wife came from a wealthy family. Her parents owned vineyards and estates, and most of her childhood friends came from similarly wealthy families. I came from a financially comfortable background, but nowhere near their level. She had a close group of friends growing up, including a male best friend who's still in her life today. Their families were close, too, and her mom actually wanted her to marry him. Her mom wasn't happy about our relationship because she thought I wasn't good enough for her daughter. Some of the things she said to me back then were genuinely hurtful.

We started dating at 16, married at 27, and moved to the US, where we lived for 12 years. I got my MBA from Harvard, worked my ass off, built a career, and eventually made good money. I'm not bragging, but I worked really hard to build a life for my wife and kids.

We moved back to Madrid after lockdown because my wife wanted to be closer to her family and friends. She runs her interior design company and looks after the family vineyard, while I cofounded a startup that's doing pretty well.

The thing is, even after all these years, I still don't feel completely accepted by her family or her old friend group. Nobody openly treats me badly, but there are little things that make me feel like I'm still an outsider. My wife meets these friends regularly, goes to their parties and trips, and sometimes hosts them at our house. Our kids are also growing up with their children, and they're all really close. I'm genuinely happy for them because they're having the kind of childhood friendships I never had.

But sometimes I look at how everything was already established for my wife when we moved back, while I had to start from scratch, and I can't help feeling a little bitter about how easily she fits into this world that I've spent years trying to feel comfortable in.

Now, about her male best friend. Two years ago, his wife passed away. Since then, my wife has occasionally invited him and his kids over for dinner, checked on him at home, and included his kids in outings with ours. I completely understand that he's going through a difficult time, and I don't have a problem with my wife being there for a friend who lost his wife.

But if I'm being honest, sometimes I feel like I'm still competing with this guy after almost three decades. I know that's probably my own insecurity talking.

Last week, my wife's niece had her 18th birthday party at their family estate in another town. Everyone was invited, including me, but I had an important client meeting and couldn't go. I sent a gift and wished her a happy birthday, and my wife was completely fine with it. Later, my mother in law posted pictures from the party on Instagram. One of them was of my wife standing with her male best friend and her parents, all posing together.

And for some reason, that picture really got to me.

I immediately started thinking about how her mom wanted them to get married when we were younger. I wondered if she still secretly wishes that had happened or if she's trying to make some kind of statement. I know it could just be a normal family picture, and I'm probably reading too much into it. But it brought back all those old feelings of being the guy who was never quite good enough for their daughter.

I've spent so many years working hard, building a career, and proving myself. Yet sometimes I feel like none of it matters because, in their eyes, I'll always be the outsider who married into their family.

I've been feeling pretty bad about this for the past week. I even unfollowed my mother-in-law on Instagram because I didn't want to keep seeing things that upset me. Now I'm having thoughts that I know might be unreasonable. Part of me wants to ask my wife to cut down on her interactions with this friend group, especially her male best friend. Another part of me genuinely wonders whether moving back to the US would be better for my mental peace.

I want to be clear that my wife hasn't done anything wrong, as far as I know. We have a good marriage, and I trust her. This isn't about accusing her of an affair.

But I also feel that if my family or friends had made my wife feel like an outsider for years, I would've confronted them about it. Sometimes I wish she'd stand up for me more firmly instead of everything carrying on as usual.

My wife is not attracted to me

43 Upvotes

Yesterday, my wife (38F) told her sister that she's not attracted to me (36M) and never has been. Basically, our marriage was one of convenience because she knew she'd have a hard time finding someone better.

The worst part is that she talked about a guy she met a year after we got married, who she had a huge crush on. She described him as "wow", tall, blue eyes, and much more her type.

Recently, I told her that we weren't very intimate. We've been married for 15 years, and we have sex roughly once every three or four months. I've never been satisfied with that, but now I understand the reason behind it a little better...

She said she would make more of an effort, and to be fair, things have been better over the past month.

We have three kids, and I am not sure what to do?

Rehomed My Brother's Dog and Now He Wants Her Back

Thumbnail gallery
31 Upvotes

I rehomed my brother's(28) dog (German Shepheard ~5 years old) earlier this year. Now he keeps bothering me about getting his dog back. It started maybe a month ago. I found her a good home thanks to Reddit and she is well taken care of. I even stayed overnight with her for a few days while her new dad was out of town. She's happy. Her new dad is happy with her. I get it that he's bothered but it's too late imo to be bothered. I think he should take this entire experience and learn from it. Rehoming another person's dog sounds bad but I put my the doggy first and she's happy.

Context: There's a lot of issues he was going through at the end of 2025 and throughout 2026 and he pretty much abandoned the dog at our mom's. The dog was left in a room most days unless she went out to pee. She was timid and fearful. I had never even heard her bark before. She was mostly afraid of ppl and other dogs and kept to herself. She was not walked or bathed regularly and shed so much. My mom's entire guestroom had so much hair in it which I ended up cleaning after I removed the dog. Bro would rarely visit the dog.

In May, our mom needed major surgery that caused her to be hospitalized for more than normal. She's almost 70 and has mobility issues that the surgery made worse for a little while. All the while she remained in the hospital my bro didn't attempt to care for his dog. He didn't go to make sure she was feed, had water, or to let her out to potty. I know that dogs can hold their pee for a while but it doesn't seem fair to me. The only time my bro went over to our mom's was AFTER I CONVINCED our dad to take the dog away from mom's and the dog was gone. He then left again to wherever he was living.

I had to take our mom home with me to recuperate for a month. This is when I decided that it was time to rehome the dog. I knew doggy being with our dad was a temp fix. I told my bro many times that he needed to get her rehomed. He ignored my pleas. I ended up taking her home with me.

I connected with someone in July. I got her fixed and rehomed in August. I never told my bro that I had officially started looking nor did I tell him when I found someone because I knew he would harp on about how mom didn't need to be alone. The dog didn't even like our mom! I told him after I left the doggy at her new home.

Now he sent me a text this morning and I had to block him because I was close to just cursing him out. I plan on responding after I speak with my therapist. If this were your dog how would you feel and what would do if I said no?

If you were me, how would you respond to this request to get the dog back? I could apologize for not speaking with him first and not letting him say good bye but knowing what I know I think that's BS. He never made any attempt to reach out to anyone to let us know when and how he planned on getting the dog. He also sounds like this is a threat and he's coming across very hostile which make me empathize less. He failed to mention that has a baby due soon so how are things calming down?

~~~UPDATE~~~
That was fast! I took a few comments from here and gathered my own thoughts and sent a response. Thanks for the comments. I think I still need to talk to my therapist because I'm still angry at the entitlement and tone of his messages.
Someone stole my package and condo manager told me to consider the the thief's feelings
23 Upvotes
Stolen package in Condo
Just as the title says. Last night, the delivery company sent a photo saying my package had arrived. My package in the photo was sitting in the apartment lobby. By the time I went down to pick it up, it was already gone.
This morning, I went to the condo management office and asked to review the security camera footage. They told me to wait outside, watched the video by themselves, and found the person who took my package.
The strange thing is that when someone put a sticker on my car before, they checked the security camera with me, but this time, they checked it alone.
The problem is what happened next. When I asked him for the person's information so I can just find them and get my package back, he pressured me to hand the case over to the police, asking, "How would you feel if someone came to your house and asked if you took their package?"
I live alone with a roommate in a condo. We are both girls, and the package is full of information, including my name and address. I want to resolve this within the apartment complex without the police. I am not interested in compensation or punishment for the person who stole my items for now at least; I just want my package returned.
The apartment manager's behavior seems to protect the perpetrator's identity and consider their feelings, but shifting the responsibility for my safety onto someone else while not even trying to consider my side of feelings and concern. Like, what about my identity?
It happened in the lobby, the common property of this condo and he even checked that the guy who stole my stuff lives in the same building. So I thought it was their responsibility to take care of this kind of situation within the condo, ensuring some safety and secureness for people who live here.
Is this normal in Canada? How do I fix this? Is there a way to get my package fast as possible? I already filed an online form to police but I just want my package back. How long will it take? Will there a possible stalking? If so, isn't better for me to get the person's information or apperance from the office so I can avoid the potential danger? I also want to talk to the manager about this because I really think his attitude was so unfair towards me. But I don't even know where to start with. Please help.
+Edit He said he is going to check the elevator footage to confirm which floor the thief live ONLY AFTER WHEN POLICE CONTACTS HIM what is this??? He is not even trying to make things work
This is going to be chunky and a bit long.
So it starts when I fell pregnant. My dad's wife became obsessed with me being besties with her DIL because our babies would be in the same school year.
For context, they only got married 3 years ago. She is not my step mom. I had one of those and she died. I will refer to her as DW. Up to this point me and DW were very close and I was very happy for her and my dad
So for Christmas, I asked to spend it with my dad and he said that would be great, he was looking forward to it, but it was then hijacked by DW and her family. Dad hid in the kitchen the whole time so we didn't spend any time with him and I was so overwhelmed that I left early and just sat in the car and cried.
Then for my birthday he invited me round for food, what I didn't know was that DW had also invited DIL and the baby. Not even my own siblings received an invite. Once again I was made to feel small and unwelcome, didn't get a chance to spend time with dad at all and again, I left early and cried in the car. I was also really upset when my dad loudly asked about the baby name, saying it in full in front of everyone, after I had asked him to keep it to himself.
It was after this visit that I asked for this to stop, that they made me uncomfortable and I had no interest in being 'mom friends'.
Flash forward to the birth of my baby. It was bad. I was diagnosed with PTSD shortly afterwards which I am having therapy for. On top of this, I only got a month off work so getting child care was a top priority with mine and my partner's parents helping us out to keep costs down. 2 weeks in, i asked my dad if he could babysit for an hour or so just so I could go out and get a few bits. Within 10 minutes of me leaving DW's DIL is there, with her baby, demanding to hold and play with my baby. Her baby at this point is 9months old. Honestly, I lost my shit and so did my partner. I dropped everything, went to the house, took my child, and left without saying a word. My partner, didn't raise his voice, but he made it very clear that he found the situation completely disrespectful and used the f word.
I asked the internet and was told I was in the wrong. I'm ok with that. I rung DW to apologise. During the phone call I was told that my hormones are not an excuse to overreact, that my PTSD means nothing and is not a reason for why I would overreact, that I should remember I spent time with DILs baby when I shouldn't have when I went round for my birthday and so they were owed time with my baby, and that because I'd been in contact with them when I had shingles (obviously I didn't know at the time) that it would serve me right if my baby caught something from them.
I didn't take this well. I told her that if I shouldn't be spending time with their baby, why did she invite them round for my birthday dinner? And that it was disgusting that she hoped my baby would get sick. She said I was ridiculous because no one meant any harm. I told her it was completely disrespectful for her to invite her family over after I had asked her to stop. This is where her story started to change, at first she said that she had told them about my baby being there and invited them, after this conversation she argued it wasn't her fault because they turned up 10 minutes after we had left with no warning.
After all of this she threatened to divorce my dad because he had defended my actions. I felt awful, so I eventually sent her a message apologising. I got back a message that said "thanks". I also sent DIL a message apologising as I felt none of it was her fault and she just got caught in the crossfire. She agreed with me and promised that she would talk directly to me in future rather than DW.
The good news is that my dad's marriage is saved. The bad news is that my partner is so angry that he will not allow our baby in their house because DW cannot be trusted to have our baby's best interests at heart and my dad won't stand up to DW. My dad is desperate to babysit and have a relationship with his grandbaby but is struggling to do so alone, he wants to take baby to his house to babysit.
So I'm asking for advice because I can't make everyone happy. No matter what I do someone is angry with me and my mental health is the worst it has probably ever been (I am in therapy. It is getting better).
What would you do in this situation?
Im going crazy. My ex and I were constantly going on and off, I thought we had a special connection but still there was something that I felt wasn’t right. I recently found out he was texting other girl while he was with me, in the same day!!. He would tell her he wanted to see her, that they had a special connection and even call her nicknames like “bbygirl” and stuff. He also told her he would always make time for her when sometimes he would tell me “I’ll see you when I see you”. It’s crazy to think that he wasn’t honest. Now I tried to vent to one of my friends and this is what he tells me (ss):
Why can’t men just be honest about their feeling or just accept that they’re not monogamous
Best friend maybe getting kinda weird close to my bf..?
22 Upvotes
Alright so had to make the title short, kinda, but I'm going to give confext
I [22F] have been dating my bf C [21M] for soon a year and met him through my best friend S [21F].
I knew her before I knew him, and when I met C, they were both in a sort of talking stage, and I was in a relationship. Got to know C more and got to know S more as we had become friends jist a little bit before meeting C.
Stuff happened and so S, from what C told me, "fucked up" and that made him lose feelings towards her.
Fast forward a bit later, I am single and he is too.
We start talking, then after a bit we start dating.
We told S as we are both close to her and she's my bsf and C's friend (they've known each other longer than I've known S kinda thing).
Now C and I have been together for almost a year now and it was S' birthday yesterday, but.
She private called my bf, to which she doesn't really do much, but mostly, facetimed him while getting ready.
He told me all of it and said that she was showing off her hair a bunch to him, putting on makeup all while having her camera opened and not once did she show her hair to me, not once did she show me anything and even then she has not called me privately in a while
(what i mean: we normally contact through discord and she's normally in a server VC with other people).
The thing is.
What irks me the most about this is that I know they both once had feelings for each other, and her calling him all while she's making herself pretty kinda thing and she never really does that with any of us..?
I know he doesn't anymore but for her to do this out of nowhere to my bf just kinda feels weird...
I don't know if this was a one-off thing and I'm kinda scared she's trying to maybe flirt with my bf...?
When she knows we're about to move in together soon and stuff?
I donmt know.
What should I do towards this? Should I talk to her? Should I let it go?
Should I wait until she does it again to call her out?
Help a girly out who ain't tryna lose a friend
Edit 1:
Thank you for the replies, I appreciate it.
About my boyfriend:
He is super loyal and is very very open with me. He'll tell me things I don't need to know kinda thing and he always makes sure i'm comfortable.
He told me all of this because he felt kinda weird about all of this, hence why I know about it.
I told him how I felt about this, but since I trust my boyfriend so much, I didn't mind entirely and he said "look, we'll keep this as a one-off but if she does it again, I'll tell her that I'd rather she doesn't do that".
She is also currently (from last I've heard) interested in someone and so I don't know why she'd do that kinda thing.
She's one of my best friends and I wouldn't want to lose her genuinely, but I'll make sure to put my boundaries with her if it ever occurs again, I think
I chose myself over a relationship for the first time. Did I do the right thing?
20 Upvotes
I’m 25F, and I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost two years. We love each other, and our physical relationship has always been good, but lately, I’ve started feeling like intimacy is the only time he gives me his full attention.
A few weeks ago, I was going through a difficult time and really needed emotional support. Instead, he kept trying to initiate intimacy, even after I told him I wasn’t in the mood. He eventually stopped, but I felt hurt that he didn’t seem to understand what I actually needed.
Last weekend, when the same thing happened, I calmly told him that I wasn’t going to be physically intimate just to keep him happy. I told him I wanted to feel loved and respected outside the bedroom, too.
Since then, he’s been distant and says I’m making a big deal out of something normal in a relationship. Part of me feels guilty, but another part feels proud that I finally stood up for myself.
I love him, but I don’t want to feel like I have to be physically available to prove it.
Did I handle this the right way, or am I being too harsh? I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who’ve been in similar situations.
I have developed feelings for my roommates gf
21 Upvotes
I (M27) have a crush on my roommates (M26) gf (F21) and I feel awful. The roommate is my good friend, we’ve been since we were children which makes this worse. They’ve been together I think between 1-3 years, but I only met her back in April. I didn’t think much of her to begin with and then we started having conversations.
She’d be in the kitchen making dinner, I’d be making tea and she would just start talking to me about literally anything. I’m very shy and she made me feel comfortable. Now, every time i come into the kitchen she asks me to be her sous chef and I just do it. She writes “bomb threat” IT’S A JOKE on piece of paper and slides it under my bedroom door. Every time she goes to an Asian shop, she always gets me something. She sings my name every time she sees me. And yeah just a whole bunch of things. She stayed over the whole of august and my feelings for her grew. PLEASE HELP I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO, i can’t really confess because that puts everyone in awkward position, and i can’t exactly tell my friend she can’t come over. WHAT DO I DO?
i’m thinking of calling cps on my boyfriends cousins
18 Upvotes
my boyfriends cousin has two kids. one in middle and one in elementary. she has a severe adderall addiction that has turned pretty bad. i didn’t think much of it before, i mean it’s just adderall, not meth. but it has gotten to a point where she is putting adderall before the kids. i do enjoy her as a person, but i can’t watch her do that to her kids that i have loved and adored since the day they were born.
i don’t want this to cause stress in my relationship though. do i make the call anyways and just act like i don’t know who reported her? i don’t want the kids taken- but i want it to scare her enough to straighten up. wtf do i do???
also- i grew up watching my dad struggle with adderall. i don’t want those kids to go through the same thing. it’s very hard to watch a parent in active addiction. i’m not doing this out of harm, but to make sure those kids don’t continue seeing that every day.
My father is cheating on my mother by having sex with sex workers
• Upvotes
Exactly a week ago i accidentally discovered that my father (61) is cheating on my mother (58) .
I accidentally stumbled on a what’s up conversation on his phone where he was chatting to some woman and planning to meet her the next day ( my mom was going on a weekend trip with her friend) while i was taking my brothers to visit our aunt .
Upon returning from her house the next day i checked his phone again and found out that they had met that morning after he had dropped my mother at the airport and that he was planning to meet up again with her in the evening but she did not come and gave him some excuses and he was not above begging and even offering to get her an uber .
This was on Saturday, my mother came back home on Monday morning and he had stopped talking to that girl. I shamefully have to admit that i was relieved and had thought that it was all over.
Then again today’s morning i discovered another chat with another woman where he was planning to meet her in the afternoon and have sex with her and he did go out so….
I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with him, i cannot stand to exist in the same house with him .
I cannot stop thinking about my mother, my heart is breaking for her and I have no idea what to do, I don’t know if / how to tell her, considering that this is not the first time that he cheats on her, he did this multiple times throughout my childhood and had multiple relationships with multiple women and my mom always ended up forgiving him.
But the idea of her continuing to share her life,her bed with him kills me
I am the only one who knows and have no idea what to do about it ??!
UPDATE: Bought a used laptop listed as "excellent condition" and the battery was dead. Seller called it buyer's remorse.
13 Upvotes
Hey everyone, I wanted to give an update since quite a few people suggested opening an eBay "item not as described" case.
First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to explain how buyer protection works. I've never had to deal with something like this before, so I was honestly pretty nervous about making things worse.
Well, I finally have some good news.
After waiting another day without hearing anything from the seller, I decided to stop going back and forth and opened an item not as described return request through eBay.
I uploaded screenshots of the original listing where the seller specifically stated that the battery held a full day's charge, along with the battery health report showing 4% of its original capacity.
I also included a short video showing the laptop shutting off almost immediately after being unplugged.
The seller responded surprisingly quickly.
He accused me of exaggerating the problem and insisted that the laptop was functioning perfectly when he shipped it.
He also repeated that I could return it, but only if I paid for shipping and accepted the 20% restocking fee.
At that point, I was honestly starting to question whether I'd made a mistake buying a used laptop in the first place.
But I stuck to the facts and explained that I wasn't returning it because I'd changed my mind. I was returning it because the battery condition was completely different from what was advertised.
A couple of days later, eBay stepped in.
They reviewed the information I'd submitted and approved the return under their Money Back Guarantee.
The seller was required to provide a prepaid return label, and the restocking fee wasn't applied.
I immediately packed the laptop back into its original packaging, took pictures of everything, and dropped it off.
I made sure to keep the tracking information and the shipping receipt, just in case.
The seller didn't message me again.
Once tracking confirmed delivery, I waited a little longer than I would've liked, but eventually received confirmation that my refund had been processed.
I got the full $520 back.
I'm not going to lie, seeing that notification was a huge relief.
As a grad student, $520 is a significant amount of money for me, and the thought of losing over $100 in fees for something that wasn't my fault was incredibly stressful.
The whole experience has definitely made me more cautious about buying used electronics online.
I still think buying refurbished or secondhand can be a great option, especially when you're on a budget, but I'll be paying much closer attention to battery health and return policies from now on.
For anyone wondering, I ended up finding a refurbished laptop from a reputable retailer with a warranty. It cost a little more than I'd originally planned, but at least I have some peace of mind.
And yes, the battery actually works.
TL;DR: I opened an eBay item not as described return request after the seller refused to cover the defective battery or waive his 20% restocking fee. eBay approved the return, I sent the laptop back using a prepaid label, and I received a full $520 refund. I bought another laptop with a warranty, and everything worked out.
My boyfriend doesn’t clean himself well
13 Upvotes
I have been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years now. In the beginning of the relationship I would always give him oral, but ever since the first time I noticed a weird smell. Since I was so in love and infatuated I chose to just think that it was a one time bad smell and overlooked it. But I was wrong. Every single time after that he would always tend to have the same situation where it would smell. For some reason it was easy to overlook like I said because I loved him. As time went on I started to do it less and less and now he asks and wonders why I haven’t done it or I don’t like to do it like I did in the beginning, and he says that I just dont like him like I used to and all these other things. I always think he HAS to realize it because how can he not smell it on me afterwards??! I cant pinpoint where the smell is though because its not like cheesy like I know guys can be. Its frustrating because I would love to satisfy him more but physically cannot put up with it. He also is a very sensitive person and im not sure how he will react if I tell him. And also he showers EVERY night. I have also asked him what his routine is but never want to ask more in detail because I don’t want him to feel bad or think im insinuating something. He also once told me he never smells bad and doesn’t “release” bad odors. Which made me think he really has no clue.
I reported my abuser
11 Upvotes
i just reported my abuser today to the police 2 years after the incident. Why did it take so long? Because i wanted to move past it and heal but now there’s a threat of suing me for defamation for speaking up about what he did to me.
So i wanted a paper trail. I wanted security. I went to the police station after work and filed a report but didn’t press charges yet. I don’t know if i will. I have some time to decide before the investigators call me.
what should i do? what would happen if i did go through with pressing charges?
This old friend stopped talking me around Feb 2026. Ive lost my mom this year and she never reached out. I feel like she says i changed because i gave my life to Christ and was making changes in my own life. She hasn't responded in a week. I want to double text but clearly, she is showing that she doesn't care about me. At least.. thats what im thinking. Do i text her again? Do i leave her alone? I feel like i cant bring myself to block her number.
My Boyfriend’s Hygiene is concerning
9 Upvotes
For some context, I’m 21F and he’s 21M. He has an apartment that he shares with a male roommate of the same age. We’ve been dating for exactly a year, and I’ve always noticed his apartment was a little musty but I chalked it up to the fact that they are cheap apartments on a college campus. However, lately (within the last 3 months) my boyfriend has been exhibiting some questionable hygiene and it’s causing me to lose interest.
  1. His bed sheets and pillows consistently began smelling like BO or onions.
  2. His shower is always covered in hair, mold, and has yellow staining from not being cleaned properly.
  3. His toilet always has pee/dust/gook on it
  4. His apartment in general has a foul, moldy smell.
When I brought up these issues to him, he didn’t take them very seriously at first, but the more I asked him and voiced to him that it made me uncomfortable, he did make the effort to go out and buy new bedding and pillows (the BO smell was so strong that even washing it wasn’t getting it out)
However, because I had to keep asking him to do this, I feel like I’ve lost all attraction.
Every time I go to his apartment I dread it, and I find myself not wanting to be touched by him, engage with him, or do anything really. It’s like a complete switch that I’m feeling.
The last time I went over, I had to use his shower and I was so disgusted by all the mold and hair that I just started cleaning it myself. When he saw me cleaning it, he tried to help but honestly it just made me feel like his mother. It was SO unattractive and icky.
I appreciate that he seems to be trying to change, but it feels like he only tries when I MAKE him try. He told me that he isn’t bothered by the smell or by his shower being dirty, and hardly notices it.
Should I continue to give him a chance since he did go and buy new bedding?
This is just one of the many issues we’ve been having lately and I want to note that I LOVE him very much, but this behavior is such a turn off and I don’t know how we’re gonna bounce back, especially because this is something that continues to be a problem. He sweats so much sometimes that he smells really bad and I have to actually tell him to apply deodorant, otherwise he won’t.
Please give me some advice, this is a hard decision to make but I want to know if I’m doing the right thing by bringing it up and if I should consider this a deal breaker.
19F, never been to a party, broke and friendless 😭 Halloween masquerade advice needed!!
9 Upvotes
I'm 19 and in my second year of university in Birmingham, and my uni is hosting a Halloween masquerade party in 9 days (Friday 30th October). Entry is free for students, and I genuinely really want to go!
The problem is that I'm broke, don't have any friends to go with, and have absolutely no idea what to wear. I'm also not a crafty person, so anything involving sewing or making an elaborate costume is probably out of the question. 😭
I've never been to a party before, and I'm quite socially awkward and insecure about my appearance, particularly my face. I tend to feel self-conscious around people, which makes putting myself out there difficult. Honestly, the masquerade aspect is one of the main reasons I want to go because wearing a mask sounds fun, and the anonymity might help me feel less shy and more comfortable interacting with people without worrying so much about how I look.
Last year, I barely interacted with anyone at uni, and I really don't want to spend my entire second year repeating that experience. I'd like to start putting myself out there, trying new things and making memories, even if I have to do some of it alone.
My financial situation is also quite difficult at the moment, so I can't really afford to buy an expensive costume or lots of accessories. I'd love ideas that cost very little or use things I might already own.
So, I have a few questions for anyone who's been to a masquerade or a university Halloween party before:
- Costume ideas: What could I wear on a very tight budget? Ideally, something I can put together with ordinary clothes and a mask, without needing to sew or make anything complicated.
- What actually happens at a masquerade? Is it mainly dancing, music, socialising, games, or something else? What should I expect?
- Going alone: Is it awkward to arrive at a party by yourself? How do you approach people when you don't know anyone?
- Masquerade etiquette: Do people actually wear their masks all evening? Are there any unspoken expectations I should know about?
- General advice: What would you tell someone who's never been to a party before, is socially awkward and nervous about embarrassing themselves?
I'd really appreciate any advice, costume inspiration or stories from people who've been in a similar situation. I know this might seem like a small thing to some people, but going would be a big step outside my comfort zone, and I genuinely want to give myself the chance to experience something new. ❤️
I was the victim of a $60k auto fraud scam
9 Upvotes
In May 2026, I bought a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG for $58,500 cash from an AutoTrader seller at the DMV. The seller submitted a signed lien release directly to the clerk, who verified the lien was cleared and issued me a clean California Certificate of Title listing me as the sole legal owner. Over the next three months, I personally drove the car.
On August 17, 2026, Swift Recovery Group repossessed the car from Santa Monica without notice or a court order, acting for Carvana/Bridgecrest based on pre-May title records. LAPD opened a "theft by trickery" report listing me as the victim. I discovered the seller had originally acquired the car from Carvana using a stolen identity, and the identity theft victim had already filed a police report in June.
My comprehensive insurance denied coverage three times. In their third denial, they conceded I was a good-faith purchaser with clean title, yet applied a catch-22 exclusion: if Carvana owned it, it was an excluded repossession; if I owned it, it was excluded conversion. They admitted relying solely on a verbal phone summary from a detective without reviewing Carvana’s actual records. Last week, the DMV voided my title, acknowledging their clerk processed documents "suspected to be forged."
