Hey guys, I've just reached home, so I am updating you about my 9060 XT 16GB Hellhound, bought FROM Temu and SHIPPED by Amazon Shipping, and left on my restaurant's front in its retail box. As you can see in the pics, there is my card with the original plastic that I peeled off it, the shipping labels that got slapped straight to the back of the retail box, GPU-Z and CPU-Z info, stats while running Cyberpunk 2077 (Native 2K/High-Ultra/FSR On/FG On-Off), Doom: The Dark Ages (Native 2K/High/FSR On/FG Off-On), Hogwarts Legacy (Native 2K, Ultra, FSR On/FG Off) without Ray-Tracing, Amazon delivery info from Temu app, delivery guy's message time vs the time I took the pic, and the Temu seller's info. Yesterday, there was light rain, so you can even see the water damage on the box's end, caused by it being placed on the ground outside. I am a student working part-time, so no way in hell that I would treat my hard-earned money like that just for a picture for Reddit.
Originally, I just wanted to complain about how Amazon Shipping's delivery guy left it in front of my restaurant instead of just bringing it inside, but I did not expect the post to explode into so many discussions, so I want to clarify a few things here, as well as provide proof.
1/ Why the hell do I order a GPU from Temu: Definitely not what I do every day, and while I understand that most of the stuff there is junk, there are also legit sellers that sell legit stuff at the market price or slightly discounted. The seller in the pic seems to be reliable; the stuff is not super cheap to be unreasonable and is sold in a lot of units. eBay listings that day showed the 9060 XT 16GB to be from £480 - £600; Amazon listings are all above £500, and this one was £446 pre-coupon, then why not? I am not dumb enough to buy a £100 9060 XT 16GB from a no-history or no-rating, random-letters-in-the-name seller from who knows where. If you care about it, I have been buying stuff from marketplaces for years already, and I have not once been scammed. Could've been a little expensive or impulsive buys, but not scammed. However, I understand your caution about a site such as Temu.
2/ Amazon ships for Temu: Yes, they do, or at least in the UK. The name is Amazon Shipping. And I believe the packaging or slapping label was performed by the seller, not Amazon, but I cannot verify this. This might also explain your "But Amazon never ships anything without packaging outside." Perhaps because they were not the one to handle the packaging.
3/ The whole "Shipping to the restaurant/Choosing original packaging" and my main complaints: I am living with my relatives in their flat (like an apartment in a building), and I knew they would often not be home at the time of delivery. I knew I would be working at my restaurant at the time of delivery, so I would just be there to receive it. I am not stupid enough to choose "Manufacturer's packaging" for such an item, and I believe there wasn't one on Temu's UI. I use Amazon, so I know about it too. After nearly one year of staying in the UK, all Royal Mail and Amazon delivery people have always walked into the restaurant to leave the package with a staff member or at least on the nearest table to the door. Never had once that it happened like this.
That day was cold, and it rained a little, and the delivery guy might have been pushed by a tight schedule. I genuinely feel sorry for him and hope that delivery persons' working conditions will be improved. However, especially with bare items like this, which are also valuable, I just hope that they would have taken a few more seconds to ensure that it was delivered sensibly, or at least, maybe more secure packaging with another label on the outside. Those were my original post's main points. Peace.
