Yep. And lord have mercy on your soul if you don’t tip

I mean people in the EU tip too on most services but compared to the 15% to 20% most Americans use to tip it's nothing and also not every single time.

Tattoos at least here seem already expensive enough. Tipping again like 20% of that just seems like too much.

Edit typo

Where in Europe? Nobody tips where I live.

Well first question what job are you working?

I speak mostly about benelux and Ruhrpott. I already said not everybody tips everytime. The standard food places I go to I tip like every 5th or 6th time I order there, a euro or too. Never said europe tips a lot,but tipping exists.

I used to work as student in a restaurant that was a little bit more high class than the average restaurant, but even the people with more money don't tip a lot or every time.

Edit: sorry my brain is poop. I was talking about waiter and hotel jobs when I said most services.

You said "people in the EU tip too on most services".

That's nonsense. We don't tip tatoo artists, the people cutting our hair, etc.

Yeah I meant mostly waiter and hotel jobs. Could've worded that better. Mea culpa.

Oh no that's badly worded then. I meant mostly horeca restaurants, hotels and stuff. Not to usual for customers here to leave a small tip.

What job I work doesn't matter. I don't know anybody who ever tips anywhere.

I might have to specify that I talk mostly about waiters and hotel stuff when it comes to EU tipping. Anywhere else is possible but surely statistically like winning the lottery. So you've been all over Europe?

West Europe and central people tip but by far not like in the US.

You're the one that side Europe in a generalized way. That's why I asked where you were. Nobody tips in any industry in the Nordics.

When I went to a Michelin starred restaurant in Stockholm, a tip was expected.

That might actually becoming more and more common in the haute cuisine in europe. Seen a post about Gordon Ramsey trying to do the same in his restaurants.

Well been to Norway and honestly for the price of half a liter beer in bergen I get 3l in Belgium. I sure as shit didn't tip up there, it was expensive enough for me. It made the impression to me the way Norwegians drink with those prices that they have relatively high income in relation and they might tip a little from time to time.

Buying a pack of cigarettes almost made me cry and that was back in 2015. If they ramped the prices up the way belgium did recently I bet a 25 pack costs now 25-30 euro in Norway.

I'm in my 30s and have tipped like 3 times in my life for truly exceptional service at a restaurant or a bar and I've spent weeks in all the biggest European countries and visited many of the smaller ones too (and live in one of those). Tipping culture is not a thing, although you certainly CAN tip if you feel like someone truly went above and beyond for you.

Almost nobody tips in the Netherlands. Yes sometimes but it is mostly to make a round number.
