Yall got bigger problems like no guns.

u/georgewashingguns 9h ago

Not exactly a problem when their gun control laws are incredibly effective at preventing gun violence

18

u/Alpine_Exchange_36 9h ago

Turns out lower gun prevalence does in fact lead to lower gun violence

-58

u/1-luv 9h ago

data on violent crime consistently shows that the vast majority of firearms used in offenses are obtained illegally. why punish responsible owners?

27

u/georgewashingguns 9h ago

Data on gun control in Australia shows that it was, and is, extremely effective at reducing and preventing gun violence

-27

u/1-luv 9h ago

The data shows that firearm deaths were already steadily declining for over a decade before the 1996 laws were passed. Nice try

17

u/EtherealBeany 9h ago

And how are things going in the US without any gun control?

-6

u/1-luv 8h ago

Pretty good. Police cant just go into my house without a warrant.

16

u/the_sixhead 8h ago

The fuck they can't lmao. They just shot a baby. You think they give a fuck about a warrant?

0

u/1-luv 8h ago

This is why you keep your door closed. Ur telling me they blew open the door?

They shouldn't* they can, will, and do all the time. It's not hard to find articles of people going to prison for using a firearm in defense after an unlawful entry.

And side note, if a cop can mag dump you with almost zero consequences just because they think you have a gun, you don't have the right to own a gun.

u/1-luv 8h ago

Blaming the Second Amendment for bad police behavior is a false equivalency, especially when Castle Doctrine laws successfully protect thousands of homeowners who use legal firearms to stop intruders every year. Nice try.

LMAO!

Someone needs to look up Ryan Whitaker. Go ahead and try to hold a gun when the police show up because you were playing video games a little too loud for your neighbor. See how that goes for you.

Black Air Force officer got shot dead in his home (don’t remember exact details but this is very recent) because he had a gun in his hand (pointing down to the floor and his other hand raised up) when he opened the door because the officer refused to identify himself when asked who it was, and then hid from the peekhole prompting the guy to get a gun in the first place. All over a noise complaint of some sorts. Deputy walked Scott free despite the sheriff department of the officer firing him for the whole thing.

Having a gun sure saved him, right? The cop was of course the one and only one responsible for this situation, but the more relaxed the gun laws are, the more trigger happy people get. Especially those with an ounce of authority.

There are also lots of road rage fueled shootings usually committed with legally obtained guns. According to data compiled by Everytown Research & Policy and the Gun Violence Archive, an individual is shot (either injured or killed) in a road rage incident roughly every 18 hours in the United States.

So many school shootings. So many other mass shootings besides that. Leading cause of death for children in the us is school shootings btw, most of which again are through legally obtained guns.

Cannot understand how one can defend this.

u/Hot_Tadpole9479 9h ago

and did it keep declining, flatten out, or go up after the 1996 laws?

5

u/Horror_Tiger6393 8h ago

So why is gun control a “big problem” in AU then?

1

u/1-luv 8h ago

Ive said this before: Giving up your guns means permanently outsourcing your safety to the state and trusting that criminals who never follow the law anyway will suddenly decide to play fair. Guns just dont go away, the criminals & cops are the only ones with it now.

2

u/Horror_Tiger6393 8h ago

But you’re implying that more guns are necessary to protect yourself from rising gun violence. Less guns in AU hasn’t translated to more gun violence. There will always be a problem with gun violence as there is no perfect solution, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be a big or growing problem in AU. Do you think gun violence will go down further or go back up if they have more guns? Or are you saying the two things are completely unrelated?

0

u/1-luv 8h ago

The two things are actually unrelated, since the US and Australia saw the exact same massive drop in violent crime over the last few decades, showing that crime rates track with broader social trends rather than how many guns are in circulation.

You really should stop watching the news and start thinking for yourself.

The vast majority of mass shootings are committed using legally obtained guns. 103 with legal guns and 16 with illegal from 1982 to March 2026.

1

u/CrazyBigHog 8h ago

Not saying you are wrong but what’s the definition of a “mass shooting”? I live in Chicago and sometimes 20+ get shot in a night and it will be 4-6 victims all done with illegal guns by gangs. I would consider 4 victims and up a mass shooting.

0

u/WERK_7 8h ago

There aren't really any laws that define what a mass shooting is, but there are that define mass killings as any killing with 3 or more victims.

7

u/The_Level_15 9h ago

Because it works. 408 separate mass shootings in the us last year, compared to only two in Australia.

Pretending guns are some sort of virtue is embarrassing, you are actively making your country worse.

1

u/E-2theRescue 4h ago

Data also shows that 250,000 guns are stolen from homes each year.

They are getting their illegal guns from "responsible gun owners".

23

u/Aenrion85 9h ago

Yeah all those alive kids going to school must suck

-18

u/1-luv 9h ago

Classic 'if you disagree with my policy, you hate children' move. Very original.

9

u/Alientongue 9h ago

No they are pointing out the fact that after a mass shooting took place Australia took measures to prevent future events. While the states just shrugs their shoulders and says nothing can be done.

-2

u/1-luv 8h ago

This was predicted in 1991 by Bill Cooper. School shootings in the push to ban guns. Do some homework. America has a mental health problem. Responsible owner are not shooting up places. Its careless parents and unhealthy minds.

3

u/Alientongue 8h ago

"Do some homework" maybe you should and take note of countries that put stricter restrictions in place and how swiftly the mass shootings dropped. Weird how a country that jerks off to guns also has the most mass shootings by a landslide.

1

u/RemnantEvil 55m ago

If America has a mental health problem, shouldn’t y’all take care to make guns more difficult to acquire?

4

u/awetsasquatch 9h ago

Just say "fuck off, I like guns". It's not a good argument but it's literally the only one you have. Every data point says less guns in the population makes the population safer. I say that as a gun owner.

-2

u/1-luv 9h ago

Giving up your guns means permanently outsourcing your safety to the state and trusting that criminals who never follow the law anyway will suddenly decide to play fair. You cannot be this dumb.

1

u/awetsasquatch 8h ago

How many people are breaking into your home wanting to kill you?

3

u/Cribsby_critter 9h ago

Please, tell us how that has been a problem for them.

-1

u/1-luv 9h ago

Police can go into homes without a warrants now over there. Reddit is truly an echo chamber.

6

u/Dense_Priority_7250 8h ago

Then make that point, no guns is good, you’re kinda digging yourself in

1

u/1-luv 8h ago

If you ever had your house broken into, youll see how valuable a gun is. Waiting for the police could be too late. Theres so many pros.

1

u/Consideredresponse 8h ago

Good thing we have enough of a robust social services saftey net that people don't need to break into houses to get their basic needs met. Weirdly that stops more crimes than the country having more guns than people.

3

u/himbiscus_tea 6h ago

A gun doesn't stop warrantless searches in the US though.

1

u/Large_Yams 1h ago

They can in USA too.

1

u/Cribsby_critter 8h ago

I suppose this begs the question: if it meant a significant reduction in mass shooting fatalities, would you give up some of your rights to privacy?

1

u/1-luv 8h ago

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

2

u/Cribsby_critter 6h ago

Franklin was using this argument on behalf of the government’s ability to organize a collective defense in response to crisis. The gun-related death America is seeing right now is a crisis. To deny the reasonable curtailment of gun rights in fear of broader government overreach into the public’s privacy or security is stubborn. What I would argue for is universal background checks, red flag laws, and prohibitions for high risk groups like domestic abusers and convinced felons.
