I’m trying to find a really great birthday gift for my husband and would love some suggestions, especially from people who share his interests!
He’s a huge Lord of the Rings fan and already owns Andúril (Aragorn’s sword). He’s also a big Halo fan, with Halo: Reach being his favorite, and absolutely loves Interstellar. We already have a cool little TARS bookend inspired by the movie.
He’s also really into chess, so I’ve been considering a beautiful, high-quality chess set. I looked at the official LOTR chess set, but it seems more like a collectible than something you’d actually enjoy playing on. We have a large table, so I’d love to find a bigger, substantial board with nice pieces, possibly something themed but still practical.
The only other thing he’s specifically mentioned wanting is a suppressor for his Glock, along with a 9mm threaded barrel. I’m not particularly knowledgeable about firearms, so I’m not sure where to begin with that idea.
I’m open to unique collectibles, functional gifts, special editions, or anything that a serious fan would appreciate. I’d rather get him one really great gift than a bunch of smaller things.
Budget: Ideally around $350, but open to spending more for something truly special.
Any suggestions, especially things you’ve personally bought and loved?

So I want a tattoo of either a tower or a close of of some part, something that looks like a cathedral or a castle, preferably from lord of the rings, or based on a description. I was thinking Gondolin or Menegroth, Ost-in-Edhil, Caras Galadhon or Imladris. The problem is I see mostly low or bad quality picture's so I don't know. Maybe show a peace of a place and let the artist make the rest. I need ideas...help

My wife is a huge LoTR fan and has said she’d love to have a hobbit themed 33rd birthday party. I’m sure someday we’ll get to NZ to see Hobbiton, but for a party with friends joining us, I’m trying to figure out somewhere in the US that would work. Our friend group is scattered across the country, so we’re all used to traveling for get togethers, and I’ve got about a 2 year head start on planning.
What’s the best place in the US to have a LoTR themed birthday party with housing that could accommodate about 8-10 people?
Open to anything, although the ability to either be in nature or get to it quickly is a big plus. Also, the accommodations being LoTR themed would be a plus, I’ve seen a few hobbit houses, etc that look really nicely done.
I’d love to hear stories/ideas from anyone else that’s done something similar!

Edit: I’ve always thought it would be awesome to have a LOTR game with the freedom of Skyrim/The Witcher 3. The ability to switch between first and third person.
Imagine exploring places like Minas Tirith, Rivendell, and the Shire. Map regions like Gondor and Rohan or Mordor load like separate maps like Witcher 3. You can choose your race as a Man, Elf, or Dwarf, or maybe even a hobbit and can pick sub races like a dwarf from the Iron Hills. You can craft weapons and armor, potions, and taking part in major battles. Orc raiders instead of bandits, trolls instead of giants, Wargs instead of sabre cats, and Dwarven trading caravans instead of Khajiit.
Just my own thought of a gameplay mechanic is finding the One Ring randomly and use it. Use it to your advantage but the longer you hold onto it you receive negative traits. While you hold the Ring the Nazgûl search around the map for you and are incredibly tough. Whenever you put it on all 9 wherever they are on the map begin heading to your location. You have to take it off and flee the area and hide as you go or you could be facing more than one.
I think it could be amazing. Not a Skyrim mod, but a full game built from the ground up.

Does anyone know a good place or website to get a 27x40 poster, it’s hard to know who and where to trust. I tried once from actual Amazon and it was bent in the middle.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated thanks.

So, I was looking for a new physical copy of fellowship of the ring, cause I lost mine, and I saw this gem. For some reason it’s only in the mass market paper book version.

If in an alternate timeline where Boromir lived. What do you think the interactions between him and Theoden would be? How would his presence affected the meeting / diplomacy with Rohan?

Finished RotK for the first time this week, and I intend to re-read The Hobbit, but at the same time I am almost certain I will want to read the Silmarillion at some point as well. Should I do it now?

The chapters on Aldarion and Erendis are a great refresher from Unfinished Tales.

I have seen box sets that include both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Has anyone seen a box set that includes both of those, as well as The Silmarillion, The Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-earth, and The Adventures of Tom Bombadil?

If Sauron gets the ring, obviously that’s not gonna be good.
But if he helps, Frodo destroy the ring, wouldn’t that also result in him dying as well because he would are 500 years of so?
Was his only real option to try to get the ring? But if he tried to get the ring it would mean betraying the promise he made to Frodo which was also going to doom him right?

I know I’m taking a shot in the dark, but my coworker and I are looking for leads on two copies of the illustrated Hobbit. Ideally somewhere in the metro Detroit area. She stopped at one tonight and got the illustrated LotR. The Taylor Ollie’s had 4 copies after she left.

Hi everyone, I recently picked up the Hobbit and quickly moved through all of the books up to the Return of the King, which I'm almost done with. Afterward, I plan on reading the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and the Book of Lost Tales parts 1 and 2. However, the editions of the books that I have are expensive(anywhere from $45 to $100 per set) so I would like to slowly get more of them as I read the ones I have. I heard somewhere that there are about 26 books from J.R.R and Christopher Tolkien about Middle-Earth, but I can't remember them all; so I was wondering if someone would suggest what to get next. If it helps, the sets I've been getting can be found on Amazon, and they are the box sets illustrated by Alan Lee, or, to be more specific, they're called, The History of Middle-Earth box set. Any help would be appreciated, because these books have revived my love of reading, and I would love to continue enjoying and learning about Tolkien's universe. Thank you!
