Help I feel completely hopeless
My Kickstarter is down to 10 days left and has only gotten 1 new backer in the past couple weeks. I understand that my launch, must not have been strong enough. But I've also continuously pushed throughout the campaign and received nothing from it. My Kickstarter is for my debut children's book. Ive contacted local newspapers, book stores, community groups and pages, I've ran promotions, posted a lot! I dont know what went wrong. I know its just a book but I was very confident with it in the beginning after watching so many other campaigns that seemed to fund in 10 minutes or less. How do you all remain confident when your project doesn't fund?

Launching my first card game on Kickstarter in 2027, how did you build an audience before launch?
Hi everyone,
I'm currently developing my own card game and hoping to launch it on Kickstarter in early 2027.
I've been working on the game, artwork and physical components for quite a while now, but the marketing side is honestly what worries me most.
I'm doing this independently, without a big marketing budget, and I'm struggling to work out how people actually build an audience before launching.
For anyone who's successfully launched a tabletop game, how did you get your first followers and backers? Was it mainly social media, Reddit, conventions, or something else?
I'd be interested to hear what actually worked for you, especially if you started with basically no audience.

Question What motivates someone to donate?
I have 20 something days left in my Kickstarter and just getting kicked in the teeth. Two backers. I believe the concept is great. It's a large amount to tackle but it's for the building and build out. I'm trying to open an indoor/outdoor dog park in Arizona. Something Arizona really needs. I run a successful pooper scooper business for the last seven years. I've tried ads. Have made videos with my own dogs. Just wondering what un orthodox ways have worked.

Gamers: would you invest in an upcoming indie game instead of just backing it on Kickstarter?
I’ve always loved indie games, and it’s rough seeing a really cool project miss its Kickstarter goal. I’ve been thinking about a different approach and want honest feedback from players before I build anything. (No link, nothing to sell, just researching.)
The idea: instead of donating to a game’s crowdfunding campaign, you could invest in it. If the game sells well, you’d get a small share of its revenue for a set time (say, until you’ve earned back 2x what you put in, or 5 years, whichever comes first). If the game flops, you could lose some or all of what you invested, just like any investment.
I’m curious what players actually think:
- Would you invest in an upcoming indie game you’re excited about? Why or why not?
- How much would you realistically put in? ($5? $25? $100+?)
- Would you still want normal backer rewards (a copy of the game, credits, etc.) on top of the revenue share?
- What would make you trust a game enough to invest: a playable demo, a dev’s past games, regular updates, something else?
- What would stop you from investing: risk of losing money, confusing paperwork, not trusting devs, something else?
- Have you ever backed a game on Kickstarter? Did it turn out how you hoped?
Tear it apart if you need to. I’d rather hear the problems now than after I build it.

One of my favorite artists, Richard Anderson (Guild Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Destiny Rising), is publishing his first art book. Includes over 25 years of sketches, 160 pages. 20 hours remain with less than £1000 to go to its second stretch goal: Printed page edges & dust cover!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inked/flaptraps
Richard's been one of my favorite artists since he worked on Guild Wars 1 way back when. He has a very sketchy style with dramatic splashes of (often muted) colour that I love and have been trying to replicate for years.
I hope this is okay to share here. I checked and couldn't see any duplicate threads for this project. There's less than 20 hours left with ~£1000 to the second stretch goal, and I'd really like to see him achieve it. If you like concept art and digital painting, I'm sure you'll be a fan of Richard's work.
He keeps an ArtStation here, if you'd like to check out his style: https://www.artstation.com/flaptrapsart
Thank you!

I've been developing a food preparation product and just launched my Kickstarter pre-launch page. Looking for honest feedback!
Hi everyone!
I'm the founder of CLEAMEAT, a food preparation product currently being developed for meat and poultry.
Over the past few years, I've been investing my own money into developing this concept, working with professional food research facilities in Belgium.
We've already completed initial development and processing trials, and we're now working toward further testing, packaging and commercial production.
I've recently launched our Kickstarter pre-launch page, with a funding goal of €30,000 to help bring CLEAMEAT closer to market.
This is my first Kickstarter campaign, and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from people with crowdfunding experience.
My question: What would you recommend improving on a Kickstarter pre-launch page to build trust and attract early followers before launching?
Here's our project preview:

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Kickstarter Tips for Late Campaign Momentum
I am close to my Kickstarter goal for my board game series Dual Fires, with a week to go. Do you all ever see games run any promotions or bonuses to encourage people to pledge before the deadline? I toyed with the idea of some sort of discount or bonus thrown in the last week, but I don't want to frustrate those who supported me early on. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Has anyone hired a Kickstarter manager?
Since lunch Kickstarter and developing a product are two different animals I believe someone who knows Kickstarter might be able to run an awesome campaign. I’ve got the product figured out, but I wanna explore hiring a campaign manager

Kickstarter Culture Fund
For those who’ve received the KCF, firstly congrats. But how soon after going live did you receive the pledge? We were informed we were successful about 2 weeks prior to launch. But are now wondering when the pledge will be made.
That boost to campaign traction in the first day or 2 would be immensely helpful 😅

Question Do you think this adds value for collectors?
For my "Secret Soviet Armored Program" campaign, I’m planning to include a printable PDF assembly manual for each model. These will feature some historical background, archival photos, and camouflage suggestions—all designed with a Soviet aesthetic to stay true to the theme.
Do you find this aesthetic appealing?
Would you prefer separate manuals for each model, or one single, comprehensive manual?
Do you think this adds value for collectors?
Thanks for your feedback!

Discussion I recently got my superbacker beanie, Hopeful for more stuff like this in the future
Hello everyone. Back in august I got an email. as a super backer I could sign up for a chance to get one of 300 super backer beanies. To my surprise, I got one. Funnily I had to hunt down the original email as I forgot I even signed up for it lol. Does kickstarter do things like this often for its super backers? I did read they let us test stuff and what not before it goes live, despite not having seen that yet. This was the first time Ive seen something special for superbackers in the few years Ive been one.
I really hope they do more like this, as I do think its cool.

Question My first kickstarter campaign
Hello from Japan! This is my first time launching a Kickstarter campaign for my indie game!
For those of you who have experience with Kickstarter, what advice would you give a first-time creator like me? What should I prepare for, and what do you wish you had known before launching your first campaign?

Question Going to launch tomorrow, any words of wisdom?
Hi all,
Tomorrow at 15:00 Madrid time (9:00 a.m. ET), my wife and I launch our first Kickstarter. We’re a two-person studio in Madrid making hand-illustrated rubber stamp kits for drawing tabletop RPG maps. Our goal: 4000€, each kit is 40€ and there are three kits to mix and match so you can get 2 for 75€ or all 3 for 110€.
We’ve been building toward this for about a month and we’re at 239 followers. Interestingly, we just lost a follower for the first time, going from 240 to 239. Kickstarter staff got in touch to see how things were going and suggested that waiting until we had around 500 followers would give us a better chance. We decided to keep the date, because we’d already announced it in a lot of places and moving it felt like it would hurt more than help.
So, for those of you who have been through it:
- What made the biggest difference in your first 48 hours?
- Is there anything you wish you’d done the day before launch?
- If you launched with a smaller following than you wanted, what did you do during the campaign to make up for it?
Any advice is very welcome. Thanks for all the help this sub has given us over the last few weeks.

Question What works best for you when promoting your Kickstarters?
As the landscape continues to shift, I'm curious what creators are seeing give the biggest bang for promoting their Kickstarters?
In the past, I've seen my newsletter as my biggest audience driver for Kickstarter campaigns (I self publish comic books and graphic novels through the platform). But I also see other creators do podcasts during pre-launch, or buying social media ads.
Curious what has worked best for you when it comes to growing audience for Kickstarters?
