Dang, dude. I have enough to do to get through all the campaigns of hlHeroquest and Betrayal on the House on the Hill. I don't need endless nonsense stories to go through, too.

AI stories never grip me. They're inconsistent, changing motives and sometimes whole characters on the fly for no reason.

There are already AI story/anime apps that put you in the story. Have you tried them? Are you hooked on them? Are you wanting to do this because you really want to add a board game to this AI story app that you're so hooked on? If so, then go off. I'm sure you'll find an audience. But it won't be me.

Thanks for the feedback, Joe! You make a really good point.

We know that basic AI creates messy stories. That’s why our AI never changes stories at random. The player is always in full control!

The AI only follows strict game rules and a pre-written story world. It simply reacts to the physical cards you scan and your dice rolls, acting like a Game Master that follows your decisions.

Totally get that it's not for everyone, but thanks for sharing your view.

Again, have you tried the "write your own AI anime" apps and are you hooked on them and that's why you did this?

Or are you spending so much time asking if you can do this that you're not asking if you should do this?

Board gamers, myself included, are largely against AI. Search up any AI post in that subreddit or fb post in a board game group. It won't go over well.

We actually realized that Wavenex isn't meant for traditional board game purists who prefer a 100% screen-free experience. We don't want to force it into the classic tabletop category. We see it more as a Hybrid Cyberpunk Experience sitting at the intersection of interactive graphic novels, digital RPG Game Mastering, and physical NFC/card mechanics. It’s definitely aimed at tech enthusiasts and players looking for a different kind of immersive storytelling rather than classic board game purists. Really appreciate your insight, it helps us hone our focus.

"We actually realized our core audience hates our idea so we're pivoting our marketing to scam tech bro dumbasses so we can make lots of money."

It sounds like you actually didn’t understand that the point of cyberpunk is to fight against the Torment Nexus, not build it.

Stupid. Sucks. Next.

Hard pass on the game and anything else made by the same creators regardless of if the others have an AI component or not.

In addition, having to stop and read a bunch of story nonsense sounds too cumbersome to add on top of a boardgame, especially if I’m playing with others.

You should pitch the project differently; people don’t tend to respond well to AI—especially in board games, which are meant to be about human interaction (one of the few forms of genuine interaction we have left). Trying to fight against other people’s opinions is just a waste of energy, as you’re unlikely to change their minds anyway.
