Yo, why is this such a hard concept for people. We want to run dungeons multiple times for a number of reasons. Loot, fun, and xp. If you remove xp from that equation, you get a lot less people running the dungeons which makes it harder to find groups even if you only wanted to run for loot and fun. It a pretty simple concept and there are tons of other ways to nerf powerleveling that don't ruin a huge part of the experience for those of us who like to dungeon grind.

And on top of this, they’ve gone ahead and made a bunch of new dungeons. Why make them when they don’t want us in them more than once or twice? I’m no dungeon spammer, in fact I’ve always hated spamming dungeons, but it feels bad going into a dungeon a second time. Especially if you don’t get loot

Or even in old dungeons like WC they've updated items like the Fang set to provide more interesting and powerful bonuses. The odds of exiting WC with the full set (or even partial) after a quest run are vanishingly low. If I'm leveling a druid and want the full set I'll just get 60s to run me through for quick loot runs. Very social.

The designers of various aspects of this game are not even on the same continent, let alone the same page.

The part that will feel really bad is having several friends leveling at the same time. It will be impossible to stay synced on quests but previously you could run a dungeon for moderate xp. Now you can choose to put leveling on hold or stay solo questing. Considering one of their pillars is promoting social interaction, I don't see how this achieves that.

i mean, what's stopping them from questing with their friends?

if they are willing to spend 5 hours grinding dungeons, what's so different from grinding quests?

I swear people who say this haven't played this game before. People have lives, staying synced on quests is virtually impossible. Where did I say anything about spending 5 hours grinding dungeons? This is about being able to jump into a social activity without putting the leveling on pause, something we've been doing since 2004.

so, what's the goal? 1 dungeon run? if that's the goal, the XP is now better

That's only true if all of the friend group have the quests for the dungeon / haven't done it already. So you are back to demanding synced up quests. And it's probably a bit more than one run. There I'd a huge gap between 1 run and 5 hours of dungeon spamming.

It's really not hard to understand if you would at least try to not misconstrue the arguments against your stand point.

so, what would the goal be? a group of 5 friends all play at different hours, except for a specific time slot to run some dungeons? while hoping neither of them already did those dungeons before?

You must be trolling right? The goal is obviously to play together when you are incedentally online at the same time.

A group of friends plays wow forever, they don't have fixed times but sometimes they are all on at the same time. They see that other friends are online, so they want to play together. In classic they would just do a dungeon fitting most of their levels for a few runs and then maybe go do other stuff.

On forever they can do that as well but whoever has already done the dungeon quests will get near to 0 exp out of it. The alternative is to quest together, oh wait they aren't synced so again someone has to do quests they already did and get near to no xp.

Like come on, even if dungeon spam was a faster way to level in classic which it isn't evident by all speed runs and world first 60 being completed by solo or duo players. Even then that wouldn't justify a 75% nerf of exp.

So refreshing to see a sensible take. I'm convinced these people don't actually play the game if they can't immediately understand why this change fucks up social dynamics.

The goal is to be able to jump into an activity with friends while keeping it rewarding, even if youve done it before.

Nobody is arguing for optimal xp/hr but surely you can see how a 76% xp reduction is a bit too much. There's a whole range of possibilities inbetween while sticking to their vision.
