Nah I get it now. I used to roll my eyes with him constantly pursuing her after what she’s done, but I get it. He’s trauma bonded. She’s so clearly a narcissist and I KNOW she love bombed the fuck out of him in the beginning. Made him feel and believe she was the love of his life. Clearly he can’t heal or get over that. Then they got kids together so it makes it that much harder. He’s trying to rekindle something that can never be re-lit. It’s just sad cause she doesn’t give a fuck about him. Just the attention and adoration he gives her. But a narc gotta get their supply! Tragic.
Also he was raised in a home with domestic violence. Because he's a man and men victims are often forgotten when there is talk about intimate partner violence and its many forms he doesnt realize he's repeated a pattern and he's the victim. The way women perpetrators do IPV is not often talked about so he probably doesnt realize. Edited: to be more clear.
