[Long Post] An Important Announcement Regarding the Subreddit's Content and Future

Salutations, fellow doomers, sluggard uncles, Insta-cooler kids, and snapchat filtered sisters!

We're about to reach a million users here, and like all good things that go mainstream and achieve widespread popularity, this community is like a big, bustling train on fire, moving ahead at full steam toward its doom.

We're aware that many of you are new here, so some of you might still have to get the hang of the rules, and that's completely understandable. There are others too, who simply can't be bothered to read them... that's understandable as well, not everyone has the time for that... or the patience, as a matter of fact...

Now, onto the thorny issue of content and main page feed. Well, let's put it this way... It's taken a dip! A big dip... even bigger than the Big Dipper!

People are flairing posts incorrectly, giving them improper titles, spamming posts all over the place, and even cross-posting the same content from here... Heck, when we remove such posts and explain why, many of you come arguing in the mod mail, saying, "It had nice ratio of upvotes, plenty of people commented and that's why the post should stay."

...Brother, you're on reddit. Need I remind you that upvotes and downvotes can age like milk and, therefore, are not some universal truth to be relied upon. There are plenty of other points to be made here, but the gist is that upvotes and downvotes go out the window when the content violates our community rules.

And then there's the fact that we're sitting at over 700k users (as of the time of writing this post), we're much more of an easy target to trolls and propagandists than before. But we've combated it before in the past, and we're combating it even now.

So here is what's going to happen. We'll deal with the whole trolling stuff, as we have continued to do so, but you guys seriously need to stop acting like it's facebook, twitter or instagram.

You want to post your opinion or something, sure! You all are welcome to do so -- but give your posts a suitable flair and title them properly (not those 'another day in Pakistan!' or other clickbaity titles like 'this is horrible!'). Otherwise, it'll be removed. Same with news and claims, source them properly with credible links.

Also, we do not mind AI formatted posts, or information that might be verified with AI tools ( we would always prefer you cite primary sources)...but posts like 'Whats your favorite thing about Pakistan' with an attached AI image just do not add anything to the conversation and are very obvious attempts at farming karma. We understand that you might've spent a lot of time making that cool-looking AI image of a futuristic-looking Pakistan but that does not mean we will automatically approve or allow it. It clogs up the timeline and just generally looks ugly (sorry). Low-effort AI posts will almost never be approved, others might be at our discretion.

Lastly, I'd like to say that we've noticed repetitive anti establishment posts. Now, we're not saying don't post about establishment, but when 10 people post the same thing instead of keeping things in comments, we end up with same, tired, low effort doom and gloom posts. Come on, we're not supposed to compete with the 9 o'clock news, people.

Once again, we're not affiliated with any political party or the establishment, so stop with the labelling... Or else, we might as well pick a lane and start earning a few bucks on the side ;)

Anyhoo, we will be restarting the Rishta threads next week (No, we're not bringing rishtas, ya filthy animal!) and hopefully, we'll be introducing a weekly promotional thread in the near future as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hope you all have a good day. Pakistan Zindabad!

Discussion Boycott p@ckages mall

Post image
516 Upvotes

Packages mall allows brands that support Israel and lets people plug their phones to charge phones but wheelchair guy with ventilator was not allowed to plug his ventilator battery that went out of charge suddenly. This is complete Israeli behavior and should be boycotted because imagine he could have died on spot !!

His TikTok is mueed311 - go support his video he posted about situation

Pakistani’s need to start posting to boycott the mall and demand compensation for the guy.

In normal countries people would protest this behavior and make sure public apology

Some of you are ignoring the main point of the post that packages mall being this inhumane and unprofessional actually harmful to everyone in Pakistan. Nothing will change if everyone keeps making random excuses. It’s the reason Pakistan reached certain point for people making excuses on bad behavior

Discussion I do not support the CCD

Post image
449 Upvotes

In the recent incident in Multan, there was video evidence. The person should have been sentenced by a court, not killed by the CCD. No matter how serious a crime someone commits, they must be punished through the courts.

If the CCD is going to do this, then why do we even have Pakistani courts? Why is taxpayers’ money spent on providing judges with houses, cars, and security if they are not going to do their jobs?

The CCD operates selectively.

Raza Dar, the son of an Islamabad High Court judge why hasn’t the CCD taken any action against him?

Ask Pakistan Why are Pakistanis celebrating encounters of Tauqeer Nazir (Multan Car incident) and Laiba Ejaz killer?

I by no means and in any form ever did or ever will justify or try to reason the crime they did.

But encounters like this will never help us grow as a society, this too is equally lawlessness and can be exploited for personal agendas. The anger could have been directed to judicial process if they would have delayed it, and if we do not trust the system at all, again anger should be directed there.

If we celebrate lawlessness, how will we expect a system to work for us in the future? thoughts?

Discussion Found this few days back

Hello everyone
A few days ago my maid found this and asked me to put it in water. It has Bismilla written at the top, but there are also a lot of numbers and tables below.
Could this be related to black magic? We’ve experienced incidents of black magic in our family before but those happened at our house in the village. I’m not sure what to think about finding something like this here.
Does anyone know what this could mean or whether I should be concerned?

Ask Pakistan I just upgraded to PTCL 100 mbps, why is it giving 10 mbps download? Any recommendations?

Any recommendations for what I can do? I don't mind switching to an alternative network like nayatel. I just want to get what I pay for, and I need around 100 mbps. Budget is flexible.

National The real conversation that we've never had - Child Labor and its consequences

Post image
614 Upvotes

What happened with this poor child is beyond devastating and everyone's rightfully demanding severe punishment for the criminal.

However, this is the only case that got attention. It is not the only case that happened 'once in a while' or anything.

Pakistan has a very serious problem: Child labor. Whether it's illegal in books or not, it happens on a daily basis. And we are all guilty of hearing stories of how some poor child got beaten to death for breaking a glass, or if nothing that extreme, we still see random children working as mechanics or waiters and being beaten around by their 'ustaad' over minor mistakes.

We watch and do nothing, and neither does the government. Every day children are born in poor households and thrown to the streets to fend themselves.

While every criminal like this should be stopped - the problem will not go away like this. We need better circumstances and financial support for financially poor children. We need to make sure they don't have to resort to working at horrible workshops. We need to make sure that the next time you see someone with a live-in child maid, you try to do something about it.

The government needs to strictly abolish child labor both within households and in public, that's the only way for this to stop.

Social Mom acting weird

Is it normal for moms to react badly when they see a healthy relationship with in laws?
So Im getting married soon and I get alomg well with my to be in laws
No lambi chauri extended joint family, just parents. They are not typical desi sas sasur, very liberal, pampering their bahus type.
My mil cooks for me every time I go there and never even asked me ke khana banana ata hai ya nae
Alr made a separate portion for me & all
So my mom always had a really bad reaction when she saw me getting along with them
Said stuff like "shuru mein ache he lagenge baad mein lag pata jayega"
I mean, i want u guys to analyse this. Is this just her worrying or smth else??

Ask Pakistan What are your views on capital punishment / death penalty in general, and how do you think it should be approached in the context of Pakistan?

I'm still undecided on the issue and would like to understand both sides of the argument. What are the strongest arguments for and against the death penalty, particularly considering Pakistan's legal system and social realities?

Cultural Anyone here willing to help with the scheduling of a Pakistan-Inspired TV Station?

Hello everyone, I've spent the past 2 week working on a project aimed at curating some of the best pakistani media and making it accessible

the format i've gone with is a television station inspired by a TV we had in my grandparents room in peshawar where our cousins would gather to watch serials, sitcoms, movies, sports, etc

here's what it currently looks like https://daruladab.tv

the idea here is to have an always-on stream of channels, airing content from different-eras of pakistani culture, whether it be an anwar maqsood drama, moin akhtar comedy, old PTV commercials, classic films, or children shows like ainak wa la jin

Part of the goal is nostalgia, but another part is making it really easy for people, especially younger Pakistanis, or diaspora-pakistanis to discover the incredible amount of art and media our culture has produced.

I've got a lot of the material sourced already (the station uses embedded YouTube videos), and the technology is mostly working.

but the hard part, which i realize now why broadcasters exist - is programming

How do you decide what deserves to air? What belongs in prime time? How do you balance nostalgia with introducing people to great shows they might never have heard of?

And most importantly, how do you make sure that someone turning on the station at any random moment can find something genuinely interesting to watch?

It's still a very early experiment, but I think there's something really interesting here.

so If this sounds like your kind of thing, and you're interested in archival, nostalgic, classic media - would love to bounce off ideas! feel free to comment

Ask Pakistan Recommendations for Detergent.

I don't want to be judged on this. I live in Pakistan and mine is a small joint family. Our family and even my mother believes strongly in BDS Movement. Since boycott has started, I have still not found a good detergent powder. Is there anyone who would help me by recommending a detergent powder that is not only good but also fragrant.

I know i can use fabric conditioner, but you see it would take a lot of time. And i can't give that bottle to the househelp, she'd empty it out in a day.

(BDS is our choice, and I don't really want any discussions regarding that.)

Thankyou ❤️.

Ask Pakistan How to import dashcam

For the past 3 days, I’ve been trying to figure out how to import the 70mai A810S dashcam to Pakistan, but I haven’t had much luck so far.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

AliExpress: The 70mai Official Store doesn’t deliver to Pakistan.

Amazon: The estimated taxes alone are almost as much as the product itself.

Ubuy / Shoppingbag: The total cost is ridiculously high — around 1.5–2x the product price, plus delivery charges and potentially additional duties/taxes.

The 70mai A810 is available through Xiaomi Store Pakistan, but I’m specifically interested in the A810S because it uses a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery. Given Karachi's hot weather, I’d prefer a supercapacitor-based dashcam for better heat tolerance and long-term reliability.

Now I’m looking for a reasonable way to get the A810S imported without paying an absurd amount in shipping and taxes.

Has anyone in Pakistan successfully imported a dashcam from AliExpress or another international store?

I’d really appreciate suggestions for:

Reliable parcel forwarding services that ship from China or the UAE to Pakistan.

Any local importers or sellers who can source the 70mai A810S.

Experiences with customs duties and taxes on dashcams.

Any other cost-effective and reliable ways to get one in Pakistan.

I’m also open to alternatives to the 70mai A810S, provided they meet these requirements:

4K front + 2K rear recording (a must-have).

Preferably a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery, given Karachi's hot climate.

Good video quality, reliability, and value for money.

If you know of any other dashcams that meet these requirements and are reasonably available in Pakistan, I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Social Punjab Government Bans Camera-Enabled Smart Glasses and Hidden Recording Devices

Post image
14 Upvotes

According to Dawn’s report, the Punjab government has imposed a 30-day restriction on camera-enabled smart glasses and other devices with hidden recording capabilities.

The reported decision aims to address privacy violations and prevent secret recording, particularly in situations where people may be recorded without their knowledge or consent.

My question is: Do you think this restriction is justified, and how should authorities balance personal privacy with the legitimate use of wearable technology?

I believe protecting people’s privacy is important, but clear rules should distinguish between ordinary smart glasses and devices specifically designed for covert recording.

Discussion Ice-cream or kulfi

Just want to know your opinion.

Do people still eat kulfis or is it mostly ice-cream nowadays?

And do people prefer eating mass-produced ice-creams like Walls or Omore, or prefer going to icecream parlors?

I remember in our childhood kulfis were available readily and liked more than icecream. But now, it seems trend has changed.
