My phone ringing used to be exciting. It was friends and crushes. Now it’s bills, telemarketers, scams, and work emails I don’t actually need to be CCd on.
The two feelings of excitement back in the day that are still unmatched:
- messages from your friends new screen names on AIM
the first texts from unknown numbers when people got their first cell phone
Runner ups would probably be when we no longer had to wait til after 9pm to make calls to people, and when we didn’t have to get off the computer so the phone worked. That feels like just yesterday but also an archaic time looking back. Jesus I’m feeling old today.
