I remember my first cell phone and I didn’t know they charged by the text. Next thing I knew I was staring at a $2000 bill. Thankfully the phone company took pity on me since I was 16 and didn’t know. Then they agreed to turn off the text feature so people couldn’t continue to text me nonstop.
Something similar happened to me! Except I was maybe more of a bigger idiot.. our family went on a cruise and my brother and I didn’t even think about international roaming fees. (This would have been like 2005/2006) My brother and I were texting up a storm with friends back home. My mom got the bill the following month and yep, it was around the $2k mark. My mom called AT&T and basically was like “my kids are effing morons and didn’t think there would be additional charges while being in the middle of the effing ocean” and yeah, they greatly reduced the phone bill for us as well lol
I got one of those magnet chargers for cars and mounted it to the blank outlet plate (where a corded phone used to reside) in my kitchen. Doesn’t quite feel the same, but there’s something about having the phone there while I cook.
The proliferation of spam and scam calls outweighs genuine calls by at least 20-1. If it’s important, leave a message. Otherwise if I do t have you saved as a contact, I’m not answering. Ever.
I’ll say something I love about my iPhone is that it does a really good job at filtering the spam calls. They don’t make my phone vibrate or ring at all.
It’s the worst part about looking for a job. I have to answer calls I normally wouldn’t, and the experience makes me want to throw my phone through a wall.
