Google Pixel’s solution to using Face Unlock in the dark seems to be just blinding you

Did you know if you click on "You are ALL CAUGHT UP." in an empty notification shade, you will be taken to NOTIFICATION HISTORY?

Just accidentally stumbled across this today.

Whenever there are no active alerts and the shade displays "You're all caught up," tapping directly on that text opens your full Notification History immediately.

Much quicker than digging through Settings > Notifications > Notification history whenever you accidentally swipe something away.

(Do Note that you still need to have notification history turned on in your settings for it to log them.)

Graphene on Pixel 6

Can't believe what Google is doing. Some random dude on the GrapheneOS team seems to have made an Android 17 ROM that's way better than what Google's entire software team has delivered.

No UI microstutters, no weird fingerprint sensor issues, and better security on top of that. I've tried Android 15, 16, and 17 on the stock OS, and all three had the same annoying stutters when switching windows with gesture. Meanwhile, I haven't experienced any of that on GrapheneOS.

If you're using an older Pixel like me and feel like Google's trying to destroy your device with "updates" so that you can buy them a new one, Graphene may be the answer you're looking for.

Pixel 8 extended warranty repair experience

Almost exactly when the regular warranty expired, I started getting green screen flickering from time to time, but it was bearable. Two months ago vertical lines appeared and never went away, and the screen became almost unusable.

While searching about the problem I found out this is manufacturing defect and I learned about the ERP (described here), so I checked and my IMEI was eligible. I started the repair process - got 0€ cost estimate and sent the device to the repair center (unfortunately I live in Europe, so it was the infamous Polish repair center).

During the initial screening, technicians found “other issues” and gave me the option to pay €185 or get the device back unrepaired. Naturally I tried to call support, but I wasn’t able to speak with a real person, so I started an email conversation. After 11 days of back and forth, trying to find out what the “other issues” were, the device was sent back. Support was extremely unhelpful: they kept saying they would get more information and get back to me, only to repeat the same vague “other issues”. To be clear, I would have been willing to pay if there were genuinely other problems with the phone, but I am not aware of any. It was always used in a case with a screen protector, with no cracks or liquid damage.

I’m now going to try my luck with the ECC, but I know it takes quite some time. I’m posting this to gather ideas on how to fight this, and also as a review of Google’s support and repair programs in Europe.

Warning: inner screen damaged when I first opened my Pixel 9 Pro Fold after fitting a BENTOBEN case

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else.

I bought a BENTOBEN case for my Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (2024) from a seller called UUFun on Amazon Australia. The listing says it's designed for this phone. It's the one-piece style with the back and front covers joined by a small plastic connector, unlike most Pixel Fold cases, which are fitted to each half separately.

The only instruction in the package was a small note to peel off the protective films before application. There was nothing about fitting it with the phone folded or unfolded, and no warning about the inner screen.

I cleaned the phone with a cloth lightly dampened with a weak water/alcohol solution, fitted the case with the phone folded, and then opened the phone for the first time since. There was an aqua blue line at the top left of the inner screen and a black patch that got bigger every time I opened it. An authorised Google repair centre quoted $1,499 for an inner screen replacement, and it isn't covered by Google's warranty.

The seller/manufacturer say I installed it incorrectly, but haven't said what I did wrong. They sent two different installation videos (one folded, one unfolded), confirmed there's no single correct method, and acknowledged there were no printed instructions. They refunded the case price but refuse to cover the repair. Amazon said it can't help with property damage claims.

I can't prove the case caused the damage, and I don't have a before photo of the screen, but it appeared immediately after fitting. If you're thinking of buying this style of case for a foldable:

- Photograph and film the inner screen before you start, and film yourself fitting the case.

- Fit it slowly, and stop if anything resists.

- Check what recourse you'd have before you buy, because the seller may refuse and Amazon may not help.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with this case or with one-piece cases on a Fold?

Pixel 7 Pro unable to enter recovery mode, stuck in Bootloop September Update

• Upvotes

So I waited to update like usual because I'm afraid of problems. It forced the update and forcibly reboot my phone, now it's stuck in a Boot loop. I can access Fastboot, but other than shut down none of the options do anything other than enter another loop.

I'd like to not wipe my phone since my 2 factor authentication is on it, and besides that, I also can't seem to wipe it even if I wanted to, since I cannot enter recovery mode.

Is there anything I can do at all?

Anybody else think the voice to text is significantly worse on the Pixel 11 Pro XL?

• Upvotes

I upgraded from a Pixel 10 Pro XL. I hit the little microphone and I said, "not sure it's your are interested but they have billions for $3." And for context, I have nothing playing in the background, my windows are closed, and it's quiet in my car.

The phone types "Let me know if you're interested" and stops. I try it again. It does the same thing. I try it a third time. It types what I want and then erases it and types "Let me know if you're interested."

Just now as I'm using voice to text to type this, it's doing the same exact thing.

So then I have it type, "Oops, that was supposed to say 'not sure if you're interested'." And again, it changes it back to the wrong one.

There are more instances, I just can't think of the other ones offhand.

google pixel 9 pro not turning back on after it died

• Upvotes

this phone sucks and i dont know what caused it, at first whenever i'd press/hold down on the power button the charging battery logo and the low battery logo would both flash for a moment. its been on charge for hours so the battery would be full by now if it was charging correctly. i also doubt that my charger is the issue because it always charges fine every other time i use it and i dont see why it would suddenly stop working the one time my phone dies. it also didnt overheat or anything so that wouldnt have caused it.

i think this happened before around when i first got my phone, but i dont remember at all how it got fixed then. i've tried different things that i've read but i havent found anything that explains this.

edit: forgot to mention that nothing shows up on the screen when i press the power button now

i dont know if this breaks the no battery posts rule so it might get deleted, but it feels more like a whole phone issue than the battery.

Pixel 8 Pro stuck on FRP after factory reset – bought second-hand in Mexico

Hey guys, I need some advice with a Pixel 8 Pro.

I bought this phone second-hand in Mexico, and it turned out to have a Macropay financial lock. I tried to troubleshoot it, but after a factory reset, I'm now stuck on Google's FRP screen asking for the previous owner's Google account.

I don't have the original receipt, and I can't contact the previous owner at the moment.

I know FRP is an anti-theft feature, and I'm not trying to claim someone else's phone. I just want to know what my realistic options are in this situation.

Has anyone dealt with a similar case involving a Pixel 8 Pro and a Macropay lock? Is there any legitimate way to recover access without the previous owner's credentials?

Any advice is appreciated.

Pixel 11 Do I need a Screen Protector on the camera?

Just pulled my new Pixel 11 out of the box. I also ordered the Clear Pixelsnap case and CaseMate screen protector but its only front side.

I have read that a camera protector is not only NOT needed but would most likely hinder performance.

Obviously I just want to do what's best for overall performance in the phone's lifetime. Should I buy the camera protector or not?

How to turn off Gemini bluetooth headphones

So i have a helmet with a cheap built in headphone. And it has a pause, volume up and down buttons. The pause button also acts as a power on/off button. But whenever there turned on and i want to lets say pause a song i can just hear Gemini being opened like you hear the bling that you can ask a question.

Sometimes when i want to turn the headphones off i long press the pause button and it just starts calling somebody..

I've got a 10a and i tried going into gestures and change power on off button and on the Google settings then Gemini i tried turning some stuff off but it keeps happening. I also turned off Gemini on lockscreen.

Honestly super annoying, does anybody have a solution?

URGENT: Need help with Pixel 3a phone

I have a Pixel 3a that I've been using for 3 years now. I actually got it earlier as a backup for my previous Pixel phone which stopped working in early 2025. I also got another Pixel 7a phone in 2025 as a backup for this phone.

The Pixel 3a was having major battery issues by December 2025 so my brother who's good with tech was able to replace the phone with a new battery. It started working fine as normal after that. However, this phone has always been having storage issues because I filled up too much data and haven't been able to clear it up much. It has gone to 0 many times but I still have been clearing it up and trying to leave at least some space. Also in early 2026, I dropped the phone the screen cracked a bit. It cracked more later on. Even with all this the phone was still working fine, just a bit slower.

I've been mainly using the Pixel 7a in 2026 as the storage and speed of the 3a made it inconvenient to use. I planned out to clear the important data soon from 3a but it didn't really seem urgent. However, a few days ago I was using the 3a in the afternoon. I just opened some tabs on Firefox and left the phone on the bed. 3 hours later I came back and I saw the phone was not working, just showing some weird colors on the screen but couldn't do anything on it. I tried charging it and it did the same thing. The phone didn't drop, it was in the same place I left it.

I didn't have a whole lot of data left on the 3a phone but there was still some important data left like pictures, notes, music and I need to figure out some way to move them out.
