Meta A Clarification: Our Stance on AI in this Subreddit

Hi,

While the Moderators of r/androidroot have a generally moderate stance on AI, when it comes to devices worth potentially thousands, we are uninterested in allowing it to provide false information.

To clarify, AI content/promotion is not permitted on r/androidroot, and this has been a rule for some time. Using AI to make guides, recommending the use of AI to attempt to solve issues, and posting AI generated comments are prohibited.

We believe in minimising the spread of misinformation. AI models are not reliable when it comes to factual information yet. It’s also often known to make things up when it has no answer. No resources for rooting an obscure Android device? It’ll make it up based on other information that it deems most likely to be useful. AI, in this state, is not suitable for rooting. It presents too much unmitigated risk, and we will not hold ourselves responsible for the damage caused by content posted on this subreddit.

If you have any questions regarding the rule, comment. However, the decision on this is final.

Thanks for reading.

Discussion I have managed to unlock the bootloader of Vivo Iqoo 9T

• Upvotes

As the title says, recently I have managed to finally break the walls of Vivo and unlock the bootloader. I had to use trial and error and a bit of AI for it as it’s an uncharted territory because of Vivo being shitty. Here are my findings on Funtouch OS 15, https://github.com/DemonKingSwarn/vivo-iqoo-9t-bootloader-unlock

I am looking for information on how to unlock the Mercado Pago Point Smart device so that I can use it as a printer for my photos, as a camera, and for YouTube. If anyone knows of a site or webpage where I could find out more about this, it would be a great help.

Thank you very much.

News / Method The massive contradiction with all these "Install Android 16 via DSU / No PC / No Root" tutorials

Over the past couple of weeks YouTube has been spammed with these 1-click tutorials claiming anyone can boot Android 16 GSIs using DSU Sideloader + Shizuku without a PC and without root.

What blows my mind is how casually they slap "NO PC" in the title and thumbnail, and then casually mention 40 seconds in: "Oh by the way, your bootloader must be unlocked."

Like... what? How are 90% of people on locked OEM devices (especially Snapdragon carrier phones, modern Knox devices, etc.) supposed to unlock their bootloader WITHOUT a PC via fastboot?

Telling non-technical users they can just toggle "OEM Unlocking" in Dev Settings and launch DSU Sideloader is literally setting people up for soft-bricks. DSU Sideloader's own in-app warning literally says you MUST have an unlocked bootloader and stock recovery on standby, because AVB / dm-verity will simply kill the boot sequence the second it sees an unsigned GSI.

Shizuku is great, but it’s userland ADB permissions. It’s not bypassing hardware trust chains or vbmeta verification.

I made a short technical breakdown on why locked phones reject this and the architecture behind it if anyone wants to check it out:

https://youtu.be/G_oMfqQ-3uI

Curious if anyone here on modern locked devices actually managed to get non-Google GSIs booting cleanly via DSU without touching fastboot, or is it basically impossible across the board now?

Discussion Play integrity

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to rooting devices, and I have a question. Yesterday, I noticed that absolutely all of my Google apps stopped working. They claimed there was no internet connection, even though I had a stable one. Out of curiosity, I ran the Play Integrity test; only "MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY" returned as positive, whereas previously, all three checks passed. I managed to get the Google apps working again by uninstalling the updates for Play Services, but that was only a temporary fix-and I still wasn't passing the "DEVICE" and "STRONG" integrity checks. I suspected the custom ROM on my device (a Poco X3 Pro) might be the issue, so I switched to crDroid 13 (based on Android 17), but I ran into the same problem. The Google apps work, but the device fails the integrity check. I've tried all sorts of modules-I'm using Magisk. I've been at this for hours without finding a solution. Could someone please help me out or suggest what I can do? Thanks in advance

News / Method [PSA] Don't update Google play services if your on a custom rom

Based off my experience if you do so Google login will be fucked up and it will think your not connected to the internet its likely a bug that Google made and it might be fixed in later update, at first I thought it was because my Litegapps install was bad but then it was because of new GMS update.

The solution to this is just uninstall the update by going to settings apps then search gms then uninstall updates and it should work now

Just to be safe make sure you disable auto updates in Google play to prevent it from auto-updating

Support Can't pass even basic integrity now

SOLVED (kinda): Uninstall updates on Google Play Services, that should fix google apps (does not fix integrity, at least for me)

Per https://www.reddit.com/r/androidroot/s/vvo4QXdo2B

So, how do I pass basic integrity? Running crDroid 12.12 on garnet.

The built-in PIF doesn't do anything anymore, so I tried magisk and PIF from there - no bueno. Then tried AlwaysStrong, got device integrity, but not basic, nor strong.

All google apps are broken, claim to be offline or that i need to log in. Accounts are fine, can access everything from the browser
