I think people are getting, maybe, too sensitive?

so you think adults should be able to touch children without asking?

in all serious, i'm asking here. if my kid doesn't want to be touched, am i supposed to teach them that they're required to allow adults to touch them anyway?

I don't think we should vilify family members for expressing their love in a completely normal way. I'm neurodivergent, I find hugging awkward and apart from my partner I don't really want to be hugged by anyone, but acting as if a grandparent giving their grandchildren a hug is 'touching them without consent' just exaggerates a problem that really isn't a big deal.

I can both not want to be hugged and have the common sense to understand that the other person sees it as a normal thing and might not understand that it makes me feel awkward

  • child does not give consent to be hugged -child gets hugged anyway

Sounds to be like being touched without consent
