Someone posted something that was a violation of sub rules. A mod commented saying "we know this is a violation of the rules, but we're leaving it up cause this guy is funny". 

... so I screenshot the comment and posted it on r/therewasanattempt with the title "there was an attempt to follow sub rules".

This one is kinda personal to me.... but 10 or so years ago I was posting here on Reddit as a then very right leaning guy under a different name. I won't make any excuses, it is who I was then. I was wrong. Changed quite a bit in the last decade.

I was down voted into oblivion then banned in those spheres for suggesting that Barack Obama might just be a decent successor to Mirgan Freeman for voicing documentaries....

Got two that stand out from big subs, and both were due to the mods banning me for sexism, for saying sexism is wrong. One was a comic someone posted that was generalizing men and saying all men are this or something and I said it isn't helpful and that stereotypes are wrong regardless of who is using them. Got told i was "denying a womans lived experience". Another was about a post someone made that was just taking a sexist argument against women, and using it on men to justify how they should be treated. Again just saying it's not good to do that and using sexism to call out and fight sexism is still just sexism. Got banned and perma muted by the sub without a word from the mods. It's crazy how having a zero tolerance policy on sexism or bigotry in general seems to ruffle some peoples feathers.

I just have a thing for teapot girls, why are they so sexy?” post in a teapot sub. I said something like “take your other hand off your dick and find actual porn” and got a warning. Someone in RI posted a photo of a lantern fly, which are invasive, and which the state itself instructs people to kill on sight. We have infestations here in New England and every summer for the past few years they’ve been a major issue.

Anyway, the person was asking what they were and if they were bad or dangerous and I posted that they should be destroyed. I was banned for a week 🙄

I had to send the mods proof from the the state’s dept of environmental management showing them that the state’s official instructions are to destroy them and report it.

Back in 2023, under my old account, I had noticed that I have gotten a 72 hour site-wide ban, because of a comment that was posted by a completely different person, on a post to a sub about shoes. The comment was complimenting OP on their shoes and somehow that random comment, from a random user on here, got ME banned for 3 days.

To say I was infuriated was a major understatement. I straight up just left Reddit, at that point. And never returned, until a couple months ago.
