I'm trying to emulate a "folder view" kind of look with a semi-transparent panel on the desktop populated with a number of shortcuts to frequently used folders, like "Home", "Downloads", "Photos", "Finances", etc. but I can't figure out how to display a label under the launcher icon.
Seems this should be possible with css styling as the desktop shortcuts all have labels. There's a "Show label instead of icon" under the launcher advanced tab but I'd like to have both.
Is there maybe a special kind of panel item to achieve this? I'm using a row of dolphin launchers with the destination path as argument at the moment but would like some text to quickly tell them apart.

I installed this XFCE desktop on all my computers, and I am very satisfied with it, I have been testing Linux for 2 months, so I put Fedora and Mageia on these PCs. exclusively XFCE yours

I also use the exact setup on my laptop. I am sorry for the light theme - I like my greys.
Notes app for notes (who would've guessed?!) pinned to the taskbar, Feishin for my music from my NAS and Heroic for my non-Steam games.
I use the default terminal emulator and the xfce app finder bound to SUPER + D for launching things. Other stuff I use regularly are bound to keyboard shortcuts, similar to Sway.
Wallpaper is done by Astral Grave.

I currently use KDE Plasma, I have used xfce in last 10 years ago, at that time I customizes xfce manually and it took lot of time. I want to try xfce, but don't have time and energy to customize it, is there a one click solution to customize xfce like some pre built themes which I can install initially to make it look good and then customize slowly for things I don't like.

I’ve been experimenting with different distros and window managers in a VM for about a month, give or take, before recently settling on CachyOS with XFCE as my desktop environment.
I have to admit, I pretty much vibe-coded the whole setup because I was too lazy to configure everything myself and wanted to get it up and running quickly. That said, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, and it’s been working great as my daily driver so far.
Currently included:
I’m wondering what to add next, though, since the setup is already pretty functional. Any recommendations for cool features, widgets, or QoL improvements I could implement? 🤔

Compared to what gnome had become with libadwaita and what possibilities u have with gtk3 is crazy.
I wouldnt mind if Gnome were such a project like Enlightenment but it affects too many desktop environments.
desktops like xfce, cinnamon, mate or browser like firefox has all this
but they are suffering from gnomes decisions, some projects leave gtk some tried to make solutions like
Sooner or later support for gtk3 will be over and it will be the great part of history.Someone may make a fork but will they have enough power for at least security fixes and would distro maintainers consider fork a serious project and add to repos?
its strongest thing that linux desktop had,it will be sad to loose it.Go to r/unixporn or r/unixart to see beauty

Hi all, so I got a used laptop that has 1080p screen, I installed mint xfce because that's the one that saved my 2010 model first gen Intel desktop pc so I have gained some feelings for it. But like most people i ran into the scaling issues , where everything looks small af unlike my desktop. I tried scaling to 2x but nah it looks wierd and out of place. Tried changing the font dpi from the GUI to 144 but still it feels wierd ,
My plan is to use the xfce itself and change the scaling to partition style from terminal as the GUI only has 1x and 2x. at around 125%
And change the font dpi to 120
Also anyone who did this earlier, do you have any issues playing games and all with these changes. Any help will be great. Thanks in advance
Try to build the perfect one but this is it :)
Hope you like it!
