Hey everyone! I built my own dock for Hyprland using Quickshell. It hides on the left edge and slides out when you hover it. Its colors follow my wallpaper through pywal, so the whole setup changes together when I switch wallpapers.

On screen

A bar made of separate islands that grow when something happens (recording, a game, updates), a dock, and a control centre for network, Bluetooth, VPN, sound and the player. Notifications and the lock screen are on the same glass.

Under a key

Mod+Space opens search for apps, files, maths, clipboard and emoji. Mod+/ shows every shortcut. Screenshots, recording, a colour picker, a window switcher and an overview are built in, no extra tools.

On the desktop

Clocks, weather, calendar, system graphs, notes and a to-do list, 26 widgets in all. You drag and resize them in an edit mode on the desktop itself, and you can write your own in QML or as a shell script.

One palette, taken from the wallpaper, for the shell, kitty, GTK, Qt, tmux and Neovim. It goes light or dark with the sun.

Getting it

An installer that asks once what you want and shows each step, with retry and skip if something breaks. It runs on Arch, Gentoo, Fedora and Void.

A slightly modified version of my Virtualcorp blackbox style, which happened by chance when I was testing the appearance. I made it smaller and tried to get rid of the window buttons. So I settled for a flat button look.

Reposted to show more than one application running. Still a long way to go but I do daily drive it.

I absolutely adore sxwm, love it. uint23 did an amazing job with the WM. it's smooth as silk. After finding out that the most recent release was likely the last I wanted to make a fork of it and add some features that mainly were just things I wanted that might not necessarily be what uint23 wanted (namely based around workspaces) so I quickly slapped together rzwm.

it has all the existing features of sxwm but with a couple added workspace related features such as dedicated workspaces per monitor and the ability to cycle through workspaces using mod + [ and ] respectively.

I currently have it running on my Arch, NixOS, and OpenBSD machines.
