Because the series is called god of war and it’s a spin off? What else would it be called? The miles morales game was still Spider-Man and you weren’t Peter Parker…
Almost every assassins creed game is a different character in a different time period but they’re all still assassins creed games. 🤷🏻♂️
There seem to be multiple gods of war in this game, including the big red guy. Also, the Tomb Raider games are not called Lara Croft and Ares is the Greek god of war. People didn't want to play as a mature dad Kratos either.
Such a strawman argument. Miles Morales is Spider-Man as well while Faye isn't a God of War. If it was with Tyr as the protagonist, no one would say shit. For Assassin's Creed, you must not know what CREED means.
It’s the same franchise, similar gameplay style, with substantial characters from the same series. The specifics of the title and its ordering really don’t matter. It’s a God of War game.

"God of War" game
Looks inside
Not Kratos as protagonist
Why is it called God of War then ?
Why not call it Laufey or Laufey: A God of War Story ?
Besides that, "Santa Monica never misses" ? How the hell do you know ? The game ain't out.
