The Asian Pop Category isn't segregation

While I do agree that the category is a bit broad and that there are so many different types of Asian pop from so many different countries, I don't think it should be called segregation. The Grammys have categories for different genres such as pop, hiphop, country, rock etc its not like if an artist releases as western pop album they're going to be thrown into the Asian pop category (or at least I hope not because then my opinion on this might change) it's like how the Grammy's has a Latin pop category, and that isn't segregation

Yea but “Asian” isn’t a genre… Latin Pop is a different genre, it just so happens to be named after a racial group.

It's a language thing, isn't it?

Not a racial group its named due to the spoken language.

Yeah I do think they should rename it and make more categories like k-pop, j-pop, c-pop etc etc but I don't think the concept itself is segregation

objectively it is segregation tho. Whether you think it should exist is another question, but the nature of having different awards for different categories is the definition of segregation.

How? Having a genre for type of music isnt segregation. If someone is a western singer mixed with a rap artist is not the same. Its 2 completely different styles. So should be recognised in that category.

I could be wrong so please correct me, but I don't think it's supposted to be a divide of artists from a specific ethnicty or race but rather a genre of music which is why I think the name should be changed to the genres instead of the continent

Asian pop is just pop, why should there be a different category? A prog rock album can win the normal rock category. Plus, since they only created the asian pop category then it is segregation. Why not also French pop and Italian pop etc?

honestly the grammies are an american award show, its crazy that there's been a big blow up about this asian pop category. no americans are winning KMA's. the MAMA's have a international category too, cause its a korean award show.
