Is the Tibetan language understood in the Himalayas? NSFW
Hi!
I m from Russia and i love South Asia. I study a Hindi language in embassy courses and buy some books on Hindi as a lanaguage. I m very interesting in Himalayas region. I hear about that Nipali language is such a "lingua franca of Himalayas". But in Moscow there are no any nepali language stydy. Exept high education but it s very rare. Even no self-study book on Nepali language.
But in Moscow Tibetan language study course s exist and even two self-study books exist for russian speaking people. I hear about that Ladakhi, Sherpa, Dzongkha, Sikkimese is can be understood for Tibetan speaking person. But some people said than it s differently opposite and is totaly not.
Does it make scence learn tibetan for communication in Ladakh, Sikkkim and some parts of Nepal or is pointless study tibetan language as a "lingua franca" in Ladakh, Sikkim and in some parts of Nepal?
